시의 개방성, 폐쇄성 연구

Abstract

本 論文은 意味論的 分析으로 詩에 있어서의 開放性, 閉鎖性 硏究이다. 우리가 詩를 接할때 늘 염려하는 것은 There is something behind poetry이다. 그것은 詩가 模糊한 가운데서 처음 우리에게 오직 傳達되어 오는 것은 혼합된 感覺, 精神의 緊張이라던가 自己 中心으로 생각되어 지는 것 따위 뿐이다. 왜냐하면 詩는 詩人이 詩를 썼을 때 이미 詩는 詩人의 精神 밖으로 나와 서 있게 되며 詩人의 精神에 종속된 精神을 表象하는 것이 아니라 이미 우리의 master로서 군림하기 때문이다. 즉, 詩는 일단 생겨나면 그것 스스로가 本質이 되며 그것 스스로에서 影響받는다. 詩가 이렇게 離解하고 模糊한 것으로 存在하게 되는 것은 詩는 앞으로 달리게 하면서 멈추게 하는 모순의 기계로서 또한 드러내면서 은폐하려고 하는 詩의 暗示的 機能때문이다. 根本的으로 詩는 하나의 事物의 本質이며 歷史的으로 時代的인 狀況과 連結되어 있는 연속적인 필수불가결의 모든 것에 대한 表示이다. Homer로 부터 우리의 時代에 이르기까지 詩人, 各者에 있어 詩는 모든 事物의 原動力이 되며 모든 時代의 흐름을 들을 수 있고 볼 수 있는 實體로서 存在하게 되는 永遠不滅의 것이다. 實際에 있어 詩의 開放性, 閉鎖性 硏究라 함은 詩의 一般的인 認識으로서의 考察이다. 말하자면 本 論文은 詩의 技能을 意味로서 分析하는 하나의 〈小詩論〉으로서 言語의 分析부터 더듬어 詩의 狀況을 把握할 수 있는 key words 分析, poetic diction 分類, Aristotales 에서 부터 New Critics에 이르기까지 Imagination 考察, 閉鎖된 社會에서 肯定的으로 받아 들이게 되는 밤의 Imagery 分析, 그리고 詩의 Extension 과 Intension 사이에 일어나는 緊張을 硏究하기 爲해 J.C. Ransom에 의해 詩를 分類하고 metaphor=poetry 임을 아울러 살폈다. 두말할 것도 없이 詩는 Irony와 Paradox의 共存이다. 本 論文이 可能한한 詩의 전반에 걸쳐 考察하였음은 詩의 Essence가 詩의 開放性과 閉鎖性에 있기 때문이다. 本 論文에서 밝혀야 할 것은 開放性과 閉鎖性은 言語, 詩人의 意識의 問題, 社會參與, 像想力등에 있어 여러 意味로 解析된다는 것과 아울러 時調를 硏究하였음은 時調는 韓國文學의 精隨이며 開放性, 閉鎖性 硏究에서 볼 때 詩로서의 技能을 다하고 있기 때문이다. 本人의 意圖는 하나의 自然의 精神으로서의 詩 그 自體에 接近 하여 그 本來 人間의 精神으로 귀의시켜 보자는데 있었으며 「詩란 무엇인가?」에서 「詩란 이런 것이 아니겠는가!」하는 단계에서 하나의 〈小詩論〉을 쓰는데 目的이 있었다. 첨부하여 밝혀야 할 것은 金 光 均, 尹 東 柱, 두 詩人의 詩作品을 主로 하여 分析하였음은 두 詩人 모두 1930年代 詩人으로 매우 異質的이므로 그들의 詩는 좋은 對照를 보여 批較하는데 좋은 資料가 되기 때문이었다. 이렇게 하여 詩의 開放性, 閉鎖性을 硏究하여 본 結果, 詩는 처음 人間의 精神에서 태어나 우리에게 文學의 本質로서 知識을 주긴 하나 역시 詩라는 것은 Irony와 Paradox의 共存이며 Revealingness와 Concealigness의 1 : 1 의 照應關係로서 우리 앞에 하나의 精神 (a spirit)으로 (결코 Servant가 아님) 存在하는 것이었다.;This thesis is a study of the meanings contained in poetry, dealing with its revealingness and concealingness. What we are concerned about, when appreciating poetry, is that there is something more behind poetry. It is because what poetry communicates us in its ambiguities is a medley of sensations, the nervous strains and what may be called self-centered considerations. When a poet composes a poem it is already outside the control of the poet and it is not the representation of the poet's ideas that are subjected to him but the master that controls over us. That is, once a poem is born it is the essence in itself and exercises the influence of its own accord. The reason for the difficulties and ambiguities of poetry is that it is a kind of conflicting machine that forces the running and halting at the same time. It is the revealing and concealing function that makes poetry same time, It is the revealing and concealing function that makes poetry seem hard and vague. Essentially, poetry is the substance of a thing, and historically it is the representation of everything essential which is connected with the circumstances of every age. From Homer down to the present time, poetry is the spring of everything and everything eternal that exists as substance which can be heard and seen by us. In fact, the study or revealingness and concealingness of poetry is a considcration of poetry as ideas in general. This thesis can be said to be a theory of poetry which analyzes the function of poetry through its meanings, including analysis of words used, classification of poetic dictions, search for key words that enable us to grasp the poetic situations, consideration of imaginations from Aristoteles to new critics, analysis of imagery of night that is affirmatively accepted in closed societies, and finally tension arising from between extension and intension. Poetry here is classified by the method followed by J. C. Ransom and also metaphor is traced because metaphor is poetry. Needless to say, poetry is a world in which paradox and irony coexist. This thesis deals with poetry in general as the essence of poetry lies in its revealingness and concealingness. What this thesis tries to bring out is that what is called revealingness and concealingness can variously be interpreted in relation to words, poets' consciousness, social participation, imagination and so on. There is also included in this thesis a study of Korean Ode (Korean poetry.) From the viewpoint of revealingness and concealingness, the Korean Ode is the essence of the Korean literature and functions excellently as poetry. The purpose of the author is to approach poetry as the Spirit of Nature and to attempt to convert it into the Spirit of Man. In other words, the author starts with the proposition, ""What is poetry?"" and ends with a possible answer, "This is what poetry is like.
