<환타지아 2000>의 음악분석을 통한 음악과 영상과의 상관관계 연구

Abstract

The recognition of image music has been changed as an independent field from subsidiary function, which expresses narrative of an image as one cultural product having the competitiveness to lead popular culture with the development of visual industry together, and its importance has been increased. So the study on the correlation between music and image by jumping over the study on music itself is inevitable to develop the quality of image music from now on. <Fantasia 2000>, which is composed of 8 episodes, has a combination of classic music and animation, and this work is made by a method of pre-recording and post-creation in making music for image. The purpose of this study was to reveal the expressivity of music works more abundantly by inducing element of animation, and approach and analyze with more concentration which musical element was used for various imaging of music by the purpose of expressing abstract image, dynamic reconstruction, and synchronization of narrative through <Fantasia 2000>, a work that musical role was strengthened in, and how each feature of elements had influence and how it was imaged. According to this, this study found examples of various visual reconstructions obtained by the experience of music, various musical elements that made the imaging possible, and common features. As the result of this study,‘abstract imaging of musical element’ entered on typical phases which had influence on the structure or color change of an image centered on musical element such as the whole musical form, structure, and composition, pitch extent, tempo, dynamic, and so on. In ‘dynamic reconstruction of musical’, it indicated that elements, which had influence on movement of a character, could be found by keep an eye on the background of an image and color change, and make it relate to Mickeymousing that could be regraded as major feature of Disney animation centered on musical impression of color by tone of musical instrument and playing techniques. In ‘synchronization of musical element for narrative’, it presented that a feature, which musical element such as melody or chord had influence, could be found by the use of light motive and the reinforced background musical function through various visual approach on the basis of the function of film music that music helped the narrative of an image. Also it indicated that musical form, background element, genre feature were influenced on composition of musical story, the movement of an image was synchronized by tempo, and the use of Mickeymousing was typical. The change of musical instruments and the change of an image by dynamic were reconstructed on background element and movement of a character equally. This study on the correlation between music and image through an image, which musical role was reinforced, found the fact that music played a important role of narrative expression of an image, not simple subsidiary function in making an image from a new viewpoint. Furthermore, this study drew the conclusion that musical elements, which helped to develop an image, had to be used variously by the purpose of narrative expression of an image. The deep study with various viewpoints must be accomplished continuously to develop image music, and make it effectively.;영상음악은 영상산업의 발전과 더불어 대중문화를 이끌어가는 경쟁력을 지닌 하나의 문화상품으로 영상의 내러티브를 표현하는 보조적인 기능에서 독립적인 분야로 인식이 바뀌고 그 중요성이 증대되었다. 따라서 앞으로의 영상음악의 질적 발달을 위해서는 음악자체에 관한 연구를 뛰어넘어 음악과 영상과의 상관관계에 관한 연구가 불가피하게 되었다. 8개의 에피소드로 구성되어 있는 <환타지아 2000>은 클래식 음악과 애니메이션을 결합한 형태로 영상을 위한 음악의 제작방법에 있어 선녹음 후작화의 방법으로 만들어진 작품이다. 본 논문은 애니메이션 요소의 도입을 통해 음악작품의 표현성을 보다 풍부하게 드러내어 음악의 역할이 강조된 작품인 <환타지아 2000> 을 통하여 추상적 이미지 표현 , 동적 재현 , 내러티브의 동조화의 목적에 따른 음악의 다양한 이미지화를 위해 어떤 음악적 요소들이 사용 되었으며, 각 요소들의 특징이 어떻게 영향을 미치고 이미지화 되는지 집중적으로 접근하고 분석하였다. 이를 통하여 음악이라는 경험을 통해 얻어지는 다양한 시각적 재현의 사례들을 발견하고, 이미지화를 가능케 하는 다양한 음악적 요소들과, 공통된 특징들을 발견하였다. 연구결과 ‘음악적 요소의 추상적 이미지화’는 전체적인 음악 형식과 구조 및 조성, 음역, 빠르기, 다이내믹 등의 음악적요소를 중심으로 이미지의 구조나 색채변화에 영향을 주는 일반적인 양상을 보였다. ‘음악적 요소의 동적 재현화’는 악기의 음색과 연주기법에 따른 음악적 색채감을 중심으로 이미지의 배경과 색채적인 변화에 주목하고, 디즈니 애니메이션의 큰 특징이라고 할 수 있는 미키마우징과 관련지어 캐릭터의 움직임에 영향을 미치는 요소들을 발견할 수 있었다. ‘음악적 요소의 내러티브를 위한 동조화’는 음악이 영상의 내러티브를 돕는 영화음악으로서의 기능을 바탕으로 다양한 시각으로 접근하여 라이트 모티브의 사용과 배경음악적 기능이 강조되어 멜로디나 화음 등의 음악적요소가 영향을 미치는 특징을 볼 수 있었다. 또한 음악의 형식, 배경적 요소, 장르적 특징은 음악의 스토리 구성에 영향을 받고, 곡의 빠르기에 따라 영상의 움직임이 동조화되며 미키마우징의 사용이 일반적임을 보여주었다. 악기군의 변화와 다이내믹에 따른 영상의 변화는 배경요소와 캐릭터의 움직임에 골고루 재현되어짐도 발견할 수 있었다. 음악의 역할이 강조된 영상을 통하여 음악과 영상과의 상관관계를 연구한 본 논문은, 영상제작에 있어 음악의 역할이 단순한 보조적 기능이 아닌 영상의 내러티브표현의 중요한 역할을 한다는 사실을 새로운 각도를 통해 발견하였다. 또한, 영상의 전개를 돕는 음악적 요소들이 영상의 내러티브표현의 목적에 따라 다양하게 사용되어야 한다는 결론을 도출하였다. 앞으로도 영상음악의 발전과 효과적인 영상음악제작을 위하여 다양한 각도의 깊이 있는 연구가 계속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.
