가죽의 엠보씽 기법을 응용한 복식디자인 연구

Abstract

현대미술은 그 표면재질의 창의적 개발을 통해 발전을 거듭하고 있다. 초기미술은 단순하고 평면적인 재질감으로 출발했지만 점점 그 표면은 다양하고 입체적인 표현기법을 통해 발전되었다. 현대 섬유예술 역시 초기의 평면적인 패턴의 텍스타일표현에서 발전하여 재질감을 풍부하게 느낄 수 있는 텍스츄어로 발전하고 있다. 현대 복식디자인에서도 의복의 구성 못지않게 다양한 패브릭의 개발을 통해 그 발전을 거듭하고 있다. 새롭고 창의적인 패브릭의 개발과 개발된 패브릭과 의복이 조화롭게 결합하도록 디자인하는 것이 현대 의상디자인의 과제중의 하나이다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 가죽공예의 엠보씽 기법의 연구와 실험을 통해 가죽 엠보씽으로 의복에 활용할 수 있는 소재를 개발하여 의복과 접목시키고자 하는데에 있다. 따라서 양각으로 돌출된 재질감을 갖는 소재인 엠보씽 기법을 탐구하고 엠보씽 기법을 복식과 조화롭게 결합시켜 복식디자인의 조형미를 재조명 해 보고자 한다. 우선 연구 방법에 있어 가죽에 대한 일반적인 개념과 특징을 조사 한 후 가죽공예의 엠보씽 기법에 대한 일반적 고찰로써 가죽공예의 엠보씽 기법의 개념과 역사, 그리고 그 기법에 대해 종류에 따라 탐구하였다. 이에 이어서 현대 복식에 응용된 가죽의상 사례를 분석하였는데 그 표현기법, 그중에서도 가죽엠보씽 기법을 중심으로 사례들을 조사하였다. 본 연구에서 제작한 작품들은 착장자의 활동성을 고려하여 가죽과 타소재인 니트 소재를 매치하여 전개하였는데, 이에 따라 현대패션에 나타난 가죽의상의 사례를 그 기법을 중심으로 조사한데에 이어 가죽소재가 타소재와 매치된 사례들을 조사하였다. 본 연구에서는 능화판에 나타나는 요철문양을 조형적 모티브로 정하여 전개하였다. 능화판은 옛 책장표지를 장식한 우리의 정통 기물인데, 그 자체로서 조형적인 요철문양을 가졌을 뿐 아니라 능화판으로 책장 표지를 장식 하였을 때 은은한 엠보씽 효과와 함께 문양이 표현되는 특징을 가졌기에 문양의 모티브로 선정하였다. 이러한 능화판에 대한 이론적 연구와 더불어 그 문양의 조형적 특성을 조사하여 이를 바탕으로 능화판에서 볼 수 있는 요철문양을 가죽의 엠보씽 기법의 모티브로 응용하였다. 선행된 이론적인 연구를 토대로 가죽공예의 엠보씽기법을 새롭게 해석하여 능화판에 나타난 자연문을 모티브로한 패브릭을 개발하여 복식디자인을 총 8점을 제작하였는데, 원피스 4점, 스커트 투피스 2점 , 코트 1점, 슬랙스 쓰리피스 1점으로 작품을 구성하였다. 색상은 능화판의 판화 이미지를 응용해 흑색작품 4점을 제작하고 가죽의 느낌을 살리기 위하여 밤색으로 4점 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결론을 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 복식에서의 부조적인 소재표현을 위한 방법으로써 가죽공예의 엠보씽 기법은 풍부한 표현효과를 가지고 있으며, 복식에 있어서 독창적인 조형성을 추구할 수 있었다. 둘째, 잡화제품에만 국한되어 발전해 온 가죽공예의 엠보씽기법을 의복에 활용하여 그 기법을 복식디자인의 영역에까지 확장시킬 수 있었다. 셋째, 능화판에서 사용된 문양을 모티브로 사용함으로써 우리의 전통문양을 복식에 접목시켜 시각화 시킬 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 잡화류에 국한되어 있던 가죽공예의 엠보씽기법을 의복에 활용 할 수 있었으며 가죽공예기법을 복식디자인에 접목시킬 수 있는 무한한 가능성을 기대하게 되었다. 특히 우리나라의 전통 문양을 활용함으로써 가죽수공예의 기법을 독창적으로 표현 할 수 있었다. 가죽공예의 다각적인 실험과 연구를 통해 보다 독특한 방식으로 복식디자인에 활용할 수 있는 연구가 계속적으로 이루어지기를 기대한다.

;The modern art has been consistently developing with creative development of surface materials. The art in early stage had started with simple and plane characteristics of the materials, however, the surface has been gradually improved through diverse and three dimensional expression techniques. The modern textile art also has been developed to the texture with abundant materialism from the expression of plane textile pattern. As the modern fashion design also emphasizes the importance of the development of diverse fabrics as well as the composition of clothes, development of new creative fabrics and the design harmonizing the fabrics and the clothes are one of the important tasks of the modern fashion design. During this study, the embossing technique on leather craft was studied and this embossing was applied to the clothing. Therefore, the main objectives of this study was to get a better insight on the embossing technique with the embossed texture materials and to reveal the formative beauty of fashion design through harmonized application of this technique on clothing. For this purpose, the comprehensive research on the concept of leather was carried out and the concepts, history and types of the embossing technique on leather was then studied with special emphasis on the embossing technique of leather craft applied to modern clothing. This research has chosen the uneven shape on 'Neungwha-Pan' as the formative motive. The formative characteristics of the 'Neungwha-Pan' shape was investigated and the uneven shape on 'Neungwha-Pan' was applied to the embossing technique of leather. Based on the results from this literature research, the fabric was developed with a embossed leather craft which adopted the concept the shape of 'Neungwha-Pan'. With this concept, 8 clothes, including 4 one-pieces, 2 two-pieces, 1 coat, 1 three pieces were designed. Four of them were in black color following the image of wood cut of 'Neunwha-Pan' and four others were dark-brown color to maintain the characteristics of leather. Two conclusions were derived from this study. Firstly, the embossing technique on the leather craft provide the effect of richness of an ample expression and it was possible to pursue the unique formativeness in fashion design. Secondly, it was also possible to expand the range of the subjects by visualizing the natural shape which we can encounter during our normal life through using the shape on 'Neunwha-Pan' as a motive. Although the application of embossing technique on leather craft has been limited to the miscellaneous goods so far, this research has proved that this technique is applicable to fashion design by providing the embossed leather as a fine fabric which can be used in modern clothes and it was possible by applying our various traditional shapes to the leather craft which reveal the unique characteristics.
