한국 현대 사군자화를 응용한 복식디자인 연구

Abstract

As the time has been requested, the movement to rediscover our heritage became vigorous. Korean traditional arts and traditional cultures have been forgottenwhile we were accepting western cultures without reserve, with no criticism or second thoughts. We have just been used to it. However, fortunately, we became to realize ourselves and realize the importance of our cultures that lead various organizations to the movements to rediscover our cultures to inherit and develop. Cultural trends have been globalize and became one standard towards the western standard and Korea is no exception in such field. This study is worth to tries to reinterpret the four gracious plants, which represent traditional oriental design, in modern style and apply it to fashion design that distinct design image in modern society and utilize our traditional design into modern design. The purpose of this study can be derived into two major areas. One is to utilize our traditional design into modern design by using the four gracious plants that our national sentiments have been introduced. Another one is to support the magnification of the beauty and design native to Korea by using modern digital textile print techniques. That leads our fashion products to be distinct among global standards and be more competitive. The procedures of the study are following: First, to find symbolic meaning and general idea of the four gracious plants by approaching theoretical study and arrange and analyze the characteristics of the shapes by approaching composition, lines, and colors. Second, analyze existing examples of modern fashion design cases that express oriental designs and beauties to derive facing problems. And based on listed approach, this study tried to present the basic of design production that are universal and creative for the modern society. Based on above theoretical approach, I had produced 8 examples and obtained following results: First, the four gracious plants are reflecting the sense of oriental beauty that should be revalued as our inheritance with universal beauty towards the world in global world. Second, we can considerate national sentiment and characteristic of traditional beauty through pictures of the four gracious plants which not only implicate symbolic meanings of materials in painting, but also cultivate mind and virtue of people to present ideal human character. Research based on theoretical background of the four gracious plants reached following conclusions: Paintings of the four gracious plants satisfy directions and seasons which unify into one space time. Such spiritual base represents ideology of the scholar in Chosun dynasty in real life. However, when we approach from the shape of models, we can classify straight lines(bamboo) and curved lines(orchid) in two extremes. In between two extremes we can observe semi-curved lines (chrysanthemum) and semi-straight lines(plum). When we analyze above all four shapes we can observe the characteristics of our traditional beauty that signify national sentiments. 1.Analyze plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo, materials of paintings of the four gracious plants, and reconstruct their integrity, novelty, and purity into painting images to confirm the possibility of unlimited design creation. 2. This study can present possibilities of granting high value and reproduction of distinct image by apply beading, padding, quilting, etc. on digital printing image. 3. This study also confirms that commercialization and mass expansion can be reached by commercial production using digital printing techniques. 4. This study also confirmed that unique and valuable feminine beauty can be presented by presenting elegant image of the four gracious plants through Haute couture. Many designers in various fields already experienced charming of oriental beauty and have been trying to rediscover it for many years. On the contrary we intend to accept western cultures without reserve, with no criticism or second thoughts. Instead of accepting foreign cultures, we would rather try to find ourselves and rediscover our heritagesand develop. ;자연의 무한한 가능성은 인간으로 하여금 새로운 형태미를 창조할 수 있는 수단으로 이용되며, 자연의 이미지는 창작의 모티브로 활용된다. 이러한 자연을 의상에 도입하는 방법은 예전부터 오늘날에 이르기까지 많은 시간과 노력을 통해 진행되어 왔다. 현대에 이르러서 이러한 방법은 일련의 과정을 통해 자연스럽게 받아들일 수 있는 하나의 요소가 되었으며, 우리는 자연의 모티브를 연구한 결과물들을 쉽게 접할 수 있게 되었다. 자연을 의상에 도입하는 것은 그 자체만으로도 중요한 가치가 있다고 생각하기 때문에 동ㆍ서양, 고금을 막론하여 다양한 방법들이 계속 진행되어지고 있다. 그러한 연구의 결과물 중에는 조화나 모형물들을 실제와 분간하기 힘들 정도로 똑같이 만들어 시각적으로 자연의 아름다움을 흉내 내기도 했다. 서양과는 달리 동양권에서 자연물 가운데 오랜 시간동안 사랑 받아온 사군자는 함축적인 상징성을 가지고 있다. 또한, 사군자는 역사적으로 우리의 삶에 밀접한 관계를 유지해 왔으며 고상한 정서의 아름다움도 지니고 있다. 이러한 사군자의 화목인 매화와 난초, 국화와 대나무는 개별적인 주제로 다루어져 복식디자인에 모티브로 이용되는 경우는 있었으나, 사군자 전체는 복식디자인의 테마로 활발히 활용되고 있지 않다. 따라서 본 연구는 사군자의 아름다움을 시각적인 것에만 국한한 것이 아닌 정신적인 것까지도 포함하여, 현대적인 기법인 디지털 날염 프린팅 (Digital Textile Printing)으로 표현하고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 자연의 모티브 중 우리의 생활 속에서 민족의 정서가 이입되고 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 사군자를 현대의상디자인에 응용함으로써 상징적인 이미지를 형상화하여 독창적인 미적 세계를 표현하는 것이다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로 사군자화의 일반적 고찰을 통해 정의와 배경, 종류 및 역사적인 측면에서 접근하여 정리하고, 사군자와 디자인의 측면에서 사군자의 미를 도입시킨 현대의상디자인 사례를 고찰 하였다. 디지털 날염 프린팅 (Digital Textile Printing)기법에 관한 고찰을 하였으며 개념과 기능, 특성의 순으로 정리하고 디지털 날염 프린팅 (Digital Textile Printing)기법에 의한 현대 복식 디자인의 사례를 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 오뛰꾸뜨르(Haute Couture)4벌과 기성복(Pret-a-Porter)4벌을 포함하여 총 8벌의 작품을 제작하였다. 작품제작은 디지털 프린팅의 이미지에 맞추어 현대적 색채가 가미된 현대한국사군자화를 재구성하여 디자인에 도입하였으며, 표현기법으로는 디지털 날염 프린팅 기법을 사용하였다. 계절별로 한가지의 모티브를 2세트씩 묶어 고전적 형식의 사군자를 현대적 기술인 디지털 날염 프린팅 하였고, 입체 꽃 자수 기법으로 자연의 아름다움을 시각적으로 더욱 극대화 시키고자 하였다. 특히, 작품의 모티브를 표현하기에 가장 적합한 소재로 판단되는 실크 샤무즈를 중심으로 제작하였으며, 그밖에 코튼 사틴, 포플린, 노견주 등을 사용하여 작품의 이미지에 적합한 원단을 사용하였다. 또한 효과적으로 표현하기 위해 디지털 프린팅, 비딩, 아플리케, 누비, 입체 꽃 자수등의 장식적인 기법을 사용하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사군자의 돈아(敦雅)한 이미지로 고급스럽고 품위 있는 여성미를 표현할 수 있었으며, 동양의 미의식이 범세계화 시대에 무한한 예술적 영감원 으로써 표현 가능성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 사군자에 나타난 먹선의 필체와 농담 및 채색기법을 디지털 날염 프린팅 방식을 통하여 표현함으로서 독특한 시각적 질감을 지닌 문양을 창출할 수 있었다. 셋째, 오뛰꾸뜨르(Haute Couture) 4벌과 기성복(Pret-a-Porter) 4벌을 포함하여 총 8벌의 작품을 반씩 나누어 수공예적인 장식표현기법과 신속하고 간편한 디지털 날염 프린팅 기법으로 2가지 방식을 모두 사용하여 사군자의 기품 있는 이미지를 재창출 하였다. 넷째, 동양고유의 미적 요소와 소재의 상징성을 내포하는 사군자가 디지털 날염 프린팅(DTP)이라는 현대적이고 빠른 표현양식으로 새롭게 거듭날 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다. 더 나아가 동양적인 미의 발전가능성을 재인식하고, 과거의 것을 그대로 재현하는 것에 안주하는 것이 아닌, 현대적인 요소들을 접목시키는 작업은 전통 모티브의 새로운 표현 및 적용 가능성을 제시할 수 있으리라 본다.
