소재개발을 위한 오뜨꾸띄르 의상 연구

Abstract

새로운 세기를 걷고 있는 현대 사회는 고도로 산업화됨에 따라 여러측면에서 급격한 변화를 경험하고 있으며 그 안에 살고 있는 구성원들의 생활과 사고도 급격하게 변화하고 있다. 사회적 변화에 민감한 의류산업 역시 과거보다 상품의 고급화와 개성화된 소비자 요구에 맞는 창의적이고 차별화된 제품의 생산이 중요한 과제로 등장하고 있다. 최근의 트렌드 또한 창의적 제품의 선호 경향을 보이고 있으며 대량으로 생산해내는 저렴한 상품보다는 다소 고가라 하더라도 자신만을 위한 독특한 아이템이 각광을 받는 것이 추세로 특히 핸드 크래프트(Hand Craft) 기법을 이용한 아이템들의 인기가 상승세이다. 이러한 아이템들이 각광 받고 있는 이유는 자기만의 독특한 것을 원하는 소비자 층이 늘어나고 있기 때문으로 각자의 개성이 강해지고 다른 이들과 차별되는 자기만의 것을 원하는 사람들이 많아지고 있다. 본 연구는 이처럼 개인의 취향이나 스타일을 우선시하면서도 트렌드에 민감한 고 감각적 성향의 현대인들의 경향에 맞추어 창의적이고 고급화된 의상을 창출해 내기 위해 직물의 기본조직과 유사한 특성을 가진 타피스트리를 응용한 창의적 소재개발에 중점을 두었으며 고부가가치 의상으로의 발전가능성을 모색하고 가공된 소재만을 이용해온 기존 의상 디자인에 있어서 표현 방법의 확장을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구과정으로 현대 패션에 있어 소재가 가지는 의의를 통해 소재 개발을 통한 고부가가치의 경쟁력 있는 상품개발에의 가능성을 살펴보고 현대 패션디자인에 나타난 소재들이 수공 과정을 통해 새로운 소재로서 개발된 사례를 고찰하였다. 또한 재료의 선택에 있어 과감하고 미적 조형성을 중시하는 아트웨어에서의 예술적 요소를 오뜨꾸띄르 의상에 적용할 수 있는 방법 및 가능성을 알아보고자 문헌을 통한 이론적 배경으로 오뜨꾸띄르 의상(Haute Couture)과 아트웨어(Art to wear)의 개념과 특성을 정리 비교분석 하였다. 그리고 소재개발을 위한 한가지 방법으로 타피스트리의 개념과 특성, 제작기법과 사용된 재료를 개괄적으로 살펴보았으며 타피스트리를 이용한 디자이너들의 작품을 중심으로 사용된 기법과 소재를 분석한 후 이를 토대로 의상 4점을 제작하였으며, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현대 패션디자인에 있어서 소재의 역할은 패션산업의 기본으로서 새로운 패션의 흐름을 유도하며 디자이너의 창조성을 자극하여 참신하고 창의적인 아이디어를 제시할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 현대 패션디자이너들 중 알렉산더 맥퀸, 크리스찬 라크로와, 지방시, 장 폴 고티에, 파코 라반, 티에리 뮈글러 등과 같이 전위적인 작품들을 선보였던 디자이너들에게서 실험적인 소재개발이 많이 보여졌으며 소재에 있어서는 모피나 가죽, 플라스틱, 금속, 테이프 등이 사용되었다. 또한 타피스트리 기법에 있어서는 플레이팅과 평직, 파일, 루프 등이 나타났다. 셋째, 타피스트리는 직물의 기본조직과 유사한 형태와 특성을 의상 디자인에 활용할 수 있으며 철저한 수공에 의해서만 제작되므로 핸드메이드라는 메리트를 실어 고부가가치를 창출할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 넷째, 타피스트리는 기본평면의 조직위에 기법과 구조, 재료들의 조합방식에 따라 다양한 질감과 형태의 표현이 가능하므로 디자이너의 의도에 따라 표현이 다채로울 수 있다. 작품제작의 결과로 동일한 기법에서도 재료의 선택에 따라 직물 표면의 질감과 색채를 효과적으로 나타낼 수 있어 다양한 디자인 개발의 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해서 타피스트리를 이용한 의상이 아트웨어에만 국한되지 않고 고부가가치의 의상소재 표현기법으로써의 예술적 조형성과 실용성을 갖춘 의상으로 생산, 작업이 지속적으로 시도되어져 오뜨꾸띄르 의상에의 가능성을 모색하고 고급화, 개성화를 지향하는 현대인들의 요구에 맞추어 기성복에 있어서도 자수나 패치워크, 비딩작업 등의 수공예 적인 기법 등 표현방식에 있어서 점점 꾸띄르화 되어가고 있는 추세를 소화, 수용할 수 있는 의상디자인의 창출이 활발히 진행되기를 기대한다.

;Modern society experiencing the new century has met with sudden changes in the various aspects according to the advanced industrialization and people's lifestyle and thinking have changed suddenly. Also, in the clothing industry sensitive to social changes, production og more creative and differentiated goods suitable for consumers' demand as well as higher grade goods than the previous is rising as a key problem. And, the latest trend prefers creative goods. Moreover, unique items with somewhat higher price are highlighted rather than cheap goods by mass-production. Especially, items applying handcraft haver got into public favor increasingly. The reason why these items have been highlighted is that consumers requiring uniqueness and distinctiveness are increasing and many people want their own things different from others increasingly. This study was focused on the development of creative materials applying tapestry to produce original and high-grade clothes considering moderns' tendency that they value highly personal taste or style and are sensitive to the current trend and was attempted to find its possibility of development into high value-added clothes and to suggest the extension of expression method from existing fashion design that has applied only processed materials. In this study, on the basis of the signigicance of materials in modern fashion, the researcher examined the possilility to develop high value-added goods with competitiveness by development of materials and reviewed several cases that materials shown in the modern fashion design were developed as new materials through handcraft. In addition, the researcher compared and analyzed the concept and characteristics of Haute Couture and Art to Wear as theoretical background in order to examine a method and possibility to apply artistic factors of Art to Wear which attaches importance to resolution and aesthetic formativeness in selecting materials to Haute Couture. As a method for development of materials, the researcher examined the concept, characteristics, producing skills, and materials of tapestry in general. And based on designers' works applying tapestry, the researcher analyzed the used skills and materials and produced 4 clothes applying tapestry. Findings of this study are as follows: First, as fashion design has risen as a sensible-driven industry, variety and importance of materials as well as variety of design have been highlighted. It was found that materials in the modern fashion design, as a basis of the fashion industry, can lead a current of new fashion and give a novel and creative idea by stimulating designers' creativity. Second, it was found that since tapestry can apply form and visual and tactual texture similar to a textile's basic structure to fashion design and tapestry works are made just by handicraft, tapestry can create high added value with a merit of 'handmade'. Third, it was found that free and dimensional expression could be maed by proper application of file or slit loop, or double cloth thanks to no limitation in the expression through tapestry, and it was expected that a dimensional material might be developed by such technique. Fourth, it was found that a designer can diversly express a form according to his or her intention, since tapestry enables expression of various feelings of texture and forms according to the combination mode of technique, structure and materials on a basic plane. Moreover, it suggested a possibility of development of varied design because it can effectively desplay texture and color of a textile surface by selection of a material even under same technique. As above mentioned, it was found that tapestry is an important element having a possibility of development of diverse materials and contributiong to development of fashion design, which might meet modern people's expectation to new fashion and at the same time express designer's originality and personality. Through this study, a possibility of application of tapestry to Haute Couture having artistic formativeness and practicability through continuous trials of production and work beyond Art to Wear was examined as an expression technique of high-value added clothing materials. The researcher expects that for ready-made clothes, creation of fashion design capable of the more couture-oriented trend in terms of the expression mode of Hand Craft such as embroidery, patchwork, beading will be vigorously advanced in response to modern people's demand for luxury and individualization. It is judged that, however, tapestry can be hardly applied in making of a ready-made suit beyond Haute Couture; although tapestry has a certain priority in that clothes made by it has value of artistic expression, scarcity value, low possibility of reproduction or imitation and uniqeness, it requires long time and significant effort as it is made by Hand Craft, that is, it has low production efficiency and price competitiveness. As an effort to complement such limitation, research and development of a method of replacing Hand Craft with machine work is required. Also, alternatives like expression of a pattern of tapestry by printing, partial application of tapestry to a point of a dress, or small quantity production as black label shall be examined.
