형식미학적 접근방법에 의한 환경디자인연구

Abstract

환경디자인에 있어서 미적 가치의 실현은 그것을 경험하는 인간에게 즐거움을 주는 궁극적 목적이 된다. 연구자는 환경디자인의 미학적 접근을 위하여 최근에 대두되는 환경미학의 실증적 이론을 수단으로 하여 환경의 미적 특성에 의한 즐거움을 줄 수 있는 디자인 모형사례를 제시하고자 하였다. 환경디자인의 미학적 접근 틀로서 미적 대상과 관심으로서 환경을 이해하기 위해 가치의 개념으로부터 연구를 시작하였다. 이를 바탕으로 한 인간행태 및 공간의 지각에 관한 정보 이론적 연구는 환경창조를 위한 물리적 공간의 구성에 직접적으로 응용 될 수 있는 이론적, 실험적 토대를 제공해 주었다. 인간의 주위를 둘러싸고 있는 환경을 미적 대상으로 삼고, 환경을 구성하는 각각의 요소들보다는 인간과의 종합적인 관계를 다루어 보다 현실적인 문제해결에 중점을 두어 미적 경험과 반응을 살펴보았다. 경험미학에 있어 경험과학적 미학의 입장은 실증론적 접근을 토대로 귀납적으로 미의 원리, 특성, 법칙 등을 정립하려는 점에서 과학적·객관적 성질을 띤다. 따라서 선행연구에서 발견된 실증적 디자인 연구의 사변적이고 주관적 적용방안과 평가의 한계점을 형식미학적 접근방법의 구체적 모델을 통해 공간조직에 적용·평가 하고자 하였다. 디자인 연구를 위한 방법론으로서 형태주의적 접근은 형식미학에 있어서 자연·자연미의 가능성을 바탕으로 이루어졌다. 자연의 유기적 패턴 Organic Patterns in nature으로서 땅의 갈라진 형태 Fracture Pattern를 조형언어로 제시하고 카플란스의 선호모델 The Kaplan and Kaplan Preference Model의 개념을 운동에 따른 시점의 변화를 공간 탐색을 위한 자극정보로, 일관성 Coherence과 식별성 Legibility을 만족시키는 조형적 특성을 공간 이해를 위한 자극정보로서 디자인 모형사례에 적용하였다. 이론적 고찰을 통해 얻어진 형식미학적 개념적용 방안은 디자인 모형사례를 통해 물리적 환경으로 가시화되었다. 우리가 살고 있는 환경에서 문제점을 발견하고 그에 따른 해결책을 제시하기 위해 삼청공원을 대상지로 하였다. 자연경관이 우수한 삼청공원의 경관경험을 지원하지 못하는 지금의 실정을 바탕으로 공원 내 광장과 전망공간을 디자인하였다. 그리고 공간의 에위쌈 Enclosure의 개념과 연속적 조망의 변화에 따른 환경지각을 중심으로 공간을 계획하였다. 연구결과의 객관적 평가를 위해 카플란스가 제시한 환경의 정보적 내용을 바탕으로 언어기술에 의한 측정방법을 사용하고 연구방법의 타당성을 검증하였다. 외부환경의 휴게활동을 지원하는 공간을 디자인함에 있어서 자연에 내재된 패턴은 적절한 복잡성과 의외성, 신비성을 지니는 요소로서 자연의 유기적 형태에서 도출되는 조형언어가 디자인에 직접적으로 반영되어 공간의 형태로 적용되었을 때 단순성과 복잡성의 차원으로 형태적 가치 표현 할 수 있었다. 특히 카플란스의 환경선호모델은 공간의 조직·구조와 같은 물리적 장치를 계획하는데 기여하였고, 그것이 적용된 디자인사례연구는 개방적인 공간에 의한 식별성 Legibility, 다양한 공간형태에 의한 복잡성 Complexity, 호기심 Mystery을 끄는 요소로서 환경선호에 기여하였다. 연구자는 대상지가 지니는 환경의 물리적 가치를 바탕으로 삼청공원의 공간구성과 공간조직의 문제점을 파악하여 인간과 문화가 어우러지는 장소를 창출하고 그것이 갖게될 의의를 예측함으로써 문화창조로서의 환경디자인의 필요성을 강조하고자 하였다. 이는 디자인 방향에 잘 부합 할 수 있는 실제 대상지를 선정하고 이를 적용시킴으로서 연구의 타당성을 밝힐 수 있었다. 창조적인 환경디자인을 위하여 디자이너는 새로운 시도와 접근방법으로 끊임없는 노력을 해야 한다. 연구자가 제시한 자연의 유기적 패턴에 의한 조형언어와 환경선호에 의한 형식미학적 접근방법은 환경디자인을 통한 인간 삶의 질적 향상을 위한 새로운 시도로서 적용 방법의 개념과 기준, 체계적인 과정을 통해 지속적으로 연구되어야 함을 강조하고자 하였다. ; Realization of aesthetic values in environmental design becomes an ultimate purpose of human beings to bring pleasure to themselves for experiences. Using positive theory of environmental aesthetics as a means, I suggest an environmental design case study to provide pleasure through aesthetic characteristics of environment, for an aesthetic approach in environmental design. As a framework for the aesthetic approach in environmental design, I initiated my study from a concept of values for understanding of environment as a subject to aesthetic object and interests. Based on that, the Information theoretic study in regard of human forms and space perception provides theoretical and experimental foundation to be directly applied to formation of physical space for environmental creation. Selecting environment that surrounds human beings as a subject of aesthetics, I analyzed the synthetic relationship between environment and men, rather than each element that consists of environment. Furthermore, I examined aesthetic experiences and effects, focusing on more practical problem solving. In empirical aesthetics, empirical scientific aesthetics stands a scientific and objective viewpoint and based on positive approach, it inductively defines principle, characteristic, and law of beauty. Hence, through a more concrete model, I intended to evaluate and apply a speculative and subjective method and limited capability of evaluation of positive design study, found in the preceding study, through a formal aesthetic approach method. As methodology for design study, formal approach has been applied to formation and structure of space, and in formal aesthetics this is based on functionality of nature and natural aesthetics. In design case study, fracture patters are suggested to be formative language as formal values of organic patterns in nature. The concept of the Kaplan and Kaplan Preference Model is applied to the design case study as two stimulating information: for space exploration as a change in time based on exercise and for understanding formative features to satisfy coherence and legibility. A method applied to a formal aesthetic concept obtained from theoretical contemplation becomes realized to physical environment through design case study. For that reason, I have decided upon Sam-Chung Park as a subject of my study, because the park enables me to find a problem in environment that we live in and to seek a solution. I designed the plaza and observational space within the park to afford the extraordinary scenic experience of Sam-Chung Park. I also designed the space focusing on the concept of enclosure and environmental perception corresponding to constant changes in a scenic value. For the objective evaluation of my study, I used a method of measurement by linguistic abilities, based on environmental information that Kaplan suggested. Also, I examined validity of the research method. In designing exterior rest area, patterns immanent in nature are elements of a proper mixture of complexity, unexpectation, and mystery. When formative language, in organic forms more developed from the patterns, is directly reflected in design, it can be expressed as formal values in shapes of both simplicity and complexity. Especially, the Kaplans environmental preference model has contributed to planning of physical equipment as formation and structure of space. Consequently, the applied design case study has contributed to environmental preference as elements of discernment by open space, complexity and mystery by various forms of space. Based on the physical value of the subject, I examined the problem of structure and formation of space in Sam-Chung Park, and created a space, in which humankind harmonizes with culture. By predicting its significance, I emphasized the importance of environmental design as cultural creation. This enabled me to select a place that corresponds to the direction of design and to clarify validity of my study. For creativity in environmental design, designers should pursue incessantly new methods and apply their ideas to designs. Formal Aesthetic approach method based on environmental preference and contrastive characteristics that I suggested, is attempted for the first time to improve quality of life through environmental design. I would like to accentuate that they should be further studied through concepts and standards of application method and systematic processes.
