광섬유에 의한 빛을 도입한 패션 일러스트레이션 연구

Abstract

The modern fashion illustration has a special purpose to deliver fashion message and a lot of value in creative and unique visual expression arts. It has built its own field as a new visual art field. The fashion illustration has developed into the professional field that has an important expression function by extending to various field such as materal, expression technique, function, and so on. Thus, constant studies and experiments are needed about pecular expression technique that can improve new materials and visual effects. From the whole point of modern formative arts, the activity of the light was a major feature in the 20th century. and it is predicted that the application of the light have various appearance in 21th century. In this paper, therefore, I will introduce a new expression technique by application of optical fiber, and extend the expression field with creation of commercial value added in fashion illustration. To achieve this study's purpose, I checked the history of fashion illustration, exhibitions, documents and searched the various expression patterns by analyzing volumes, photographs, treatises, and internet sources. Besides, I inquired into the formative arts of the light from the ancient to 20th century on the whole, and I analyzed the patterns of the formative arts of the light especially in 20th century, At the part of the expression technique, I examined the concept, the history, the present condition of production, the example of application, and the possibility for expression materials of optical fiber. I produced 10 works which focused on designing to create fashion illustration including the change of color, and which applied delicate pointillism and handicraft. The result following these experiments are; First, the optical fiber technique is practicable as the new expression materials and techniques, because it can express from a plane to the cubic, and the delicacy which can be made by handiwork. Second, as the fashion illustration used optical fiber expresses the light directly, it can produce the change of the light color. The control of the light luminosity and the change in part or in general can be accomplished by the writer's intention. Third, the fashion illustration used optical fiber can express not only visual quality but also tactile sensation of the various lengths of optical fiber. At last, the fashion illustration used optical fiber can function as an illumination, and it makes us feel fine and refresh unlike the general illumination such as a glow lamp, a fluorescent lamp, or a neon lamp. To sum up, this study provides various effects and possibilities of the technique of optical fiber in the realm of fashion illustration. It also proved that the new expression field can make commercial value added. This lead to a conclusion that fashion illustration is a field full of endless trials and experiments which will eventually expand the boundary of it and heighten its quality.;현대의 패션 일러스트레이션은 패션 메시지 전달이라는 특별한 목적성을 가지는 동시에 독창적이고 개성있는 시각적 표현의 예술성에 더 많은 가치를 두고 있으며, 새로운 시각예술분야의 한 장르로서 독자적인 영역을 구축하고 있다. 또한 패션 일러스트레이션은 재료, 표현기법, 기능 등 다양한 영역으로의 확대가 이루어지면서 패션의 중요한 표현기능을 지니는 전문 분야로 발전하였다. 따라서 새로운 소재와 시각적 효과를 높일 수 있는 특색 있는 표현기법에 대한 부단한 연구와 시도가 요구된다. 현대 조형 전체의 관점에서 보면 빛의 커다란 활약이 20세기 조형에 있어서 하나의 큰 특징이었으며 21세기에는 빛의 활용이 더욱 다양한 양상으로 나타날 것으로 예측하면서 계속적인 변화의 흐름 속에서 패션 일러스트레이션에 빛을 도입하고자 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 현 과학기술문명의 각 분야에서 각광을 받고 있는 '광섬유'를 적극 활용함으로써 새로운 표현방법을 제시하고 패션 일러스트레이션의 상업적 부가가치 창출과 함께 표현영역의 확대를 도모하고자 한다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로 패션 일러스트레이션의 개념과 기능 및 용도를 문헌을 통해 살펴보고, 국내외 단행본·국내외 사진 자료·논문·인터넷 자료 등을 정리, 분석하여 패션 일러스트레이션의 다양한 표현유형들을 살펴보았다. 그리고 각종 예술관련 서적, 논문, 인터넷 자료 등을 통해 빛에 관한 일반적인 개념과 특성을 알아보고, 고대에서 20세기 이전까지의 예술에 나타난 빛 이미지의 조형성을 총체적으로 고찰하였다. 특히, 20세기에 중점적으로 나타난 빛을 이용한 조형 표현의 유형을 분석하였다. 표현기법 측면에서는 광섬유의 개념과 역사, 제조기술 현황, 그리고 적용사례와 광섬유의 표현재료로서의 가능성을 알아보았다. 이를 토대로 광섬유를 사용하여 점묘법적인 섬세함, 수공예적인 기법으로서만이 창출할 수 있는 섬세함을 응용하여 색광의 변화를 담은 패션 일러스트레이션을 창출할 수 있도록 디자인하는데 중점을 두어 총 10점의 작품을 제작하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 광섬유기법은 평면에서 입체까지, 인간의 손에 의해 만들어질 수 있는 섬세하고 정교한 표현까지도 가능하여, 패션 일러스트레이션의 새로운 표현재료와 기법으로 그 가능성을 제시하였다. 둘째, 광섬유를 이용한 패션 일러스트레이션은 빛을 직접적으로 표현해 줌으로써 색광의 변화을 도입한 패션 일러스트레이션을 창출할 수 있으며, 빛의 밝기 조절과 빛의 부분적 혹은 전체적인 변화는 작가의 의도에 따라 쉽게 이루어질 수 있어 작품으로서의 흥미와 신비감을 전달해 줄 수 있다. 셋째, 광섬유 기법을 이용한 패션 일러스트레이션은 시각적 재질감과 함께 광섬유의 길이에 다양한 변화를 줌으로써 손으로 느낄 수 있는 촉각적 재질감을 동시에 표현할 수 있다. 넷째, 광섬유를 이용한 패션 일러스트레이션은 조명으로서의 역할도 가능하며, 백열등·형광등·네온 등과 같은 일반조명의 빛과는 달리 산뜻하고 상쾌한 기분을 자아내는 빛을 연출할 수 있으며 다양한 색상변환 및 연출이 가능하다. 본 연구를 통해 광섬유를 이용한 빛을 도입한 패션 일러스트레이션 작품의 활용가능성과 그 예술적 가치부여의 가능성을 확인할 수 있었으며, 패션 일러스트레이션의 상업적 부가가치 창출과 함께 새로운 표현 영역으로써 발돋움 할 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다. 이에 지속적인 관심과 연구가 필요하며, 표현 재료의 무한한 가능성을 제시하며 후속 연구를 기대한다.
