노엮개의 엮기기법을 모티브로 한 의상디자인

Abstract

Modern days enjoy the diversification of design trends and the highlighted emergence of creative, high-quality expression of each one's individuality. As one of the methods to express such individual designs, handicrafts such as embroidery, qualting, weaving, string works, beading, patchwork are frequently used. Likewise, as an alternative to recover humanism being forgotten in the modern civilization and to return to nature, the methods of handicraft may be introduced to the costume design where the original, formative beauty is sought for with handicraft respected in order to try a variety of design. In this study various wsays of knots, especially of Noyeockai, are applied to the costume design and tried to be in harmony with human body. The purpose of the study is to extend the range of expression in the modern clothing by not only analyzing the concept and technique of industrial arts but also, with such an analysis, testing a possibility that any manual technique can be a motive in the costume designe. For the content and methodology of the study, the concept of industrial arts and the history and techniques of Noyeockai, the traditional handicraft, are reviewed: The trends of introducing such manual techniques to the modern clothing are examined in detail. The study of concerning literatures and works is added to suppor this study theoretically. Eight works are produced in all using a variety of techniques of Noyeockai to make modern-styled clothing designs. The results of the study are as follows: First, Noyeockai with sheets of paper twisted or tied suggests a possibility of its motives for the modern clothing through the relationship between the formative, beauty of the traditional handicraft and the modern senses. Second, the creation of individual clothings is tried, which gets out of standardized clothing manufacture thanks to the hi-tech development by importing manual techniques to the design. Third, the application of twisting techniques in Noyeockai turns out to extend the range of expression which can express the solid, formative beauty in human body. Four, the costume designs using the motive in the traditional handicraft increase the pride of the Korean culture and help to have the traditional aestheic conciousness and the modern senses in harmony with eachother. Finally, it is recommended that new way of expression with manual techniques which are not tried in the study should be further developed and, in addition to Noyeockai, Wanggol handicraft as well as Deung handicraft should be explored more systematically and utilized as new motives of clotheing materials.;현대에는 디자인의 경향이 다양화되고 최고품질의 창조적인 개성표현이 강하게 부각되고 있다. 이러한 개성적인 디자인을 표현하는 방법으로 자수, 퀼팅, 위빙, 끈을 이용한 방법, 비즈장식, 패치워크등의 수공예적인 기법을 많이 응용하고 있다. 현대 문명속에서 사라져가는 인간성 회복과 자연회귀를 위한 대안적 방안으로 수공예를 존중하며, 개성적인 조형미를 추구하는 복식디자인에도 수공예적인 기법을 도입하여 다양한 디자인을 시도할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 노엮개의 다양한 엮기기법을 토대로 이를 복식디자인에 응용하여 인체와의 조화를 추구하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 공예의 개념과 기법을 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 수공예적인 기법이 복식디자인의 모티브가 될 수 있는 가능성을 시도하여 현대복식에 있어서 표현방법의 확대를 모색하는 데 그 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로 공예의 개념과 우리 민속공예인 노엮개의 유래와 기법을 살펴보고, 현대복식에 있어서 공예적인 기법을 도입한 표현양상을 구체적으로 검토하였다. 이론적배경의 연구를 위한 문헌 조사와 참고작품을 조사하여 이것을 토대로 작품을 제작하였다. 작품은 노엮개의 다양한 엮기 기법을 응용하여 현대적인 감각의 복식디자인을 하는 데 중점을 두어 총 8점을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 종이로 꼬거나 엮은 노엮개를 통하여 전통 민속 공예의 조형적인 미를 현대적 감각과의 접목을 통해 복식디자인의 모티브로서 그 가능성을 제시해 주었다. 둘째, 수공예적인 기법을 디자인에 도입함으로써 기계문명의 발달로 인한 획일화된 의상생산에서 벗어나 독창적인 복식창조를 시도하였다. 셋째, 노엮개의 엮기 기법의 응용을 통하여 인체를 통한 입체적인 조형미를 표현할 수 있는 표현기법의 영역 확대를 도모할 수 있었다. 넷째, 한국민속공예를 모티브로 활용한 복식디자인을 통해 민족문화의 긍지와 함께 한국 고유의 미의식과 현대적 감각과의 조화를 이를 수 있었다. 마지막으로 본 연구에서 시도되지 못했던 공예적 기법을 통한 새로운 표현방법에 대한 개발과 노엮개 뿐이 아닌 왕골공예, 등공예등 유사공예의 엮기 기법의 체계적인 연구가 더불어 복식소재의 새로운 모티브로 활용되기를 바란다.
