숲의 이미지를 형상화한 타피스트리 연구

Abstract

현대의 섬유예술은 재료와 기법의 규제 없이 총체적 조형예술로 추구됨으로 '현대적 조형활동' 또는 '현대적 표현행위'로 정의된다. 섬유예술의 전통기법인 타피스트리는 '미'라는 장식성외에도 섬유라는 소재의 독특한 매력인 방음, 흡음, 온도조절 등의 실용적 역할도 가지고 있으며 현대 타피스트리는 평면의 2차원적 표현에서 부조를 포함한 3차원적 표현양식을 추구하며 그 조형성이 강조되고 있다. 본 연구는 자연을 있는 그대로 바라보는 것이 아니라, 인간의 확대된 시각으로 자연을 관찰하고 자연속에서 얻어지는 감흥들을 새로운 느낌으로 전달하기 위해 날실의 굵기와 간격변화에 의한 타피스트리에 관심을 갖고 이에 의한 평면의 부조효과를 연구하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 이론적 연구방법으로는 국내외의 문헌과 세미나의 발표를 중심으로 현대 타피스트리의 발달과정을 살펴보았으며, 숲의 개념을 고찰하기위해 광의의 의미로 '자연'의 개념을 해석함으로써 연구내용에 대한 이해를 돕고자 했다. 또한 평면에서의 날실변화에 의한 효과를 날실의 굵기변화와 날실의 간격변화에 의해 제작된 작품들을 예를들어 제시하면서 분석하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 자연의 변화 특히 인간이 느끼는 대자연숲의 시적이고 운율적인 리듬의 이미지를 형상화하여 자연의 엄숙하고 적막한 분위기와 생동감있는 감각을 대조적이며 비유적으로 나타냈다. 기법은 기본적인 평직, 변화평직, 파일직으로 모사의 색실을 혼합사용하여 수직이미지와 부합시켜 표현하였다. 이러한 작품제작과 연구과정 결과 숲의 이미지 형상화를 모색하기 위해 날실의 변화에 의한 타피스트리를 제작할 경우 얻은 결론을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 숲을 형상화하는데 있어서 조형의지에 의한 날실변화에 의해 제작하여 양감효과로 입체감을 얻을 수 있다. 둘째, 숲의 나무의 형상을 양식화된 형태로 분석하며 '수직선'을 선택 반복 구성하여 숲을 '나무기둥의 수직적 이미지의 집합'의 의미로 해석하는데 있어서 날실의 수직적 강조는 효과가 있었다. 세째, 굵은 나무기둥의 변화 및 나무의 중첩에서의 공간효과를 위해 날실의 굵기변화와 공간의 조화와 대비 등으로 나타낼 수 있었다. 네째, 숲의 질감적 효과의 표출로 평직, 변화평직, 파일직 등 변화 있는 기법사용으로 부조적 효과를 표현할 수 있다. 다섯째, 색채표현의 경우 '음영의 반복'을 통해 크게 '자연'이라는 이미지로 원근감과 공간감을 높일 수 있었다.;In pursuit of a total formative art without any restrictions of materials and techniques, words "the modern fiber art" is defined as "formative modern working" or "expressive modern activity." Due to the peculiar character of fiber, a tapestry, the traditional technique of fiber art possesses practical roles such as soundroofing, should absorption and adjusting the temperature as well as beauty decorative art make. Seeking after not only the second dimensional expression on a plane but also the third dimensional expression inclusive of relief, the modern tapestry emphasizes its fromative character. To transmit the inspirations in the nature to new impressions, and not to see it as it is, but to observe it by the human's enlarged sight the writer of this dissertation becomes interested in the tapestry which is mainly woven by the thickness and interval variations of warp threads, so the fixed purpose of this investigation is to go deep into the study of relief effect on a plane using the thickness and interval variations of warp threads. The theoretical study covers the development of the modern tapestry on the basis of domestic and foreign articles and papers on related subjects form seminars; Besides, I add the concept of nature in a broad sense for the study on the concept of woods. By showing examples of some works, the study also analyzes the effect on a plane caused by the thickness and interval variations of warp threads. In making art works, I metaphorically expressed both sides of variation of nature, one is solemn and desolate atmosphere getting from shaping the rhythmical and poetic image which human feels in Mother Nature and the other is animated sense. Using some techniques of fiber art such as plane weaving, hit-and-miss weaving and pile weaving, I expressed that the mixture of colored threads is coincident with perpendicular image. To grope for the image of woods, in case of weaving a tapestry using the variety of warp threads, the results from the art works making with the processing study are briefly as follows. First, refering to the formation of woods, the change of wrap threads by modeling will can make the tapestry have a massive cubic effect. Second, by analyzing the form of trees in the woods into stylized form, choosing a vertical line and organizing it over again, the perpendicular emphasis of wrap threads is very effective for interpreting woods as the collection of perpendicular image in the tree pole. Third, the change in the thickness of wrap threads the harmony and contrast in the space can express the charge of a thick tree pole and the space effect by reiteration of trees. Fourth, by using the variable technic such as plain weaving, hit-and-miss weaving and pile wearing as the expression of textured effect in the woods, I obtained the relief effect. Fifth, in the hue, the image called nature through repetition of shade can increase perspective and the notion of space.
