마크라메(MACRAME´)기법을 응용한 현대 복식디자인 연구

Abstract

Since history began, man has satisfied his cravings for art by expressing his feelings through continuous aesthetic will to create and through other artistic activities. As a form of art, clothing is a product of man's concrete creativity closely related with living, thus man's aesthetic sense of values is included in it. The purpose of this research is to approach to the matter of artistry in clothing, which is strongly emphasized in diverse discussion on modern clothing, and to apply Macrame´ technique, originated from ancient, to clothing. Modern clothing design demands the originality, artistry, and artistry of handicraft. In this point, by using diverse materials, this study is to make clothing which has a motive of the 'sea' image, and to examine the new feasibility of the way of expression in clothing design. As for theoretical background, the concept of artistry in modern clothing and relationship between the modern clothing to art to wear were examined. On the way of expression in modern clothing, handicraft technique was strongly stressed. And interlacing was a representative technique in handicraft. So in this research, the kind of interlacing and works by applying interlacing were examined. Examples of clothing by applying the Macrame´ technique and characteristics of beauty in the Macrame´ were examined as well. The research method in this study is as follows; literature review, photographic data, and reference works for theoretical background were collected and analyzed. The creation of works was focused on the 'sea' image. And the realistic and abstract image of submarine species were introduced in design. Including four practical works and four design suggestions, eight works were proposed all together. The result of this study is as follows, First, the Macrame technique, which makes it possible working only by hand without any special tools, can be easily applied into the formative approaches to express free lines and planes in clothing design. Second, the Macrame technique could be expressed with various materials and when it used jointly with fabric, it could be easily express the three-dimensional texture of the Macrame. Therfore, it is one of the techniques corresponding to the demand of diversification of material in the modern clothing design. Third, the Macrame technique, when used jointly with another techniques, brings the possibility of creating various forms. Fourth, by knotting with various colorful materials, the Macrame´ technique brings the mixing effect of color. Finally, the knot pattern of the Macrame´ could be creat the various spatial beauty of see through and be suitable for expression of 'sea' Image.;인간은 인류역사 이래로 끊임없는 미적(美的)인 창조의욕과 활동을 통하여 그들의 감정을 표현함으로써 예술에 대한 욕구를 충족시켜왔다. 예술의 한 형태로서 복식은 생활과 밀착된 구체적인 창조의 소산으로서, 인간의 미적 가치관이 포함되어 있다. 따라서, 본 연구는 현대복식의 다양한 논의중에서 점차 강조되고 있는 복식의 예술성에 관한 문제로 접근하여 연구해 보고자 하였으며, 또한 고대로 부터 유래된 마크라메기법을 응용하여 선과 면의 분할에 의한 조형미를 실험하였으며, 다양한 재료의 사용으로 변화를 시도하여 현대복식디자인에서 요구되고 있는 창의성, 예술성, 수공예성이 반영된 의상을 '바다'이미지를 모티브로하여 제작함으로써 복식디자인의 표현방법에 있어서 새로운 가능성을 모색하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로서 현대복식에 있어서 예술성의 개념과 현대복식과 미술의상과의 상관관계를 알아보았다. 또한 현대복식의 표현방법 중에서 수공예적인 기법이 점차 강조되고 있음을 주지하여 그 대표적인 기법인 엮음기법(Interlacing)의 종류와 실현작품을 검토한 후 그중에서 손쉽게 응용이 가능하며 오랜역사를 지닌 마크라메(Macrame')기법에 중점을 두어 미적 특성을 고찰하고 그것을 이용한 복식의 사례를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 방법은 이론적 배경의 연구를 위하여 관계문헌조사와 참고작품을 사진자료를 통하여 살펴보았으며 이를 토대로하여 작품을 제작하였다. 작품은 마크라메의 그물형태에서 연상되는 '바다' 이미지를 모티브로 하여 다양한 해저생물의 형태를 재현적 도입과 추상적 이미지 도입의 두가지 방법으로 디자인 하여 실물4점과 디자인 제시 4점을 합한 총8점을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 특별한 도구없이 손에 의하여 작업이 가능한 마크라메 기법은 복식 디자인의 자유로운 선과 면의 조형적인 방법 표현에 손쉽게 응용할 수 있다. 둘째, 마크라메는 한정된 재료에 국한되지 않고 다양한 재료로 표현이 가능하며, 또한 직물과의 접목은 마크라메의 입체적인 질감(Texture)을 강조할 수 있어 현대복식디자인에서 요구되고 있는 소재의 다양화 요구에 부합하는 기법의 하나이다. 셋째, 마크라메 기법은 다른 기법과의 병용으로 다양하며, 복합적인 형태의 창출이 가능하다. 넷째, 선으로 시작되는 마크라메 기법은 다양한 색상의 재료로 엮어 줌으로써 색채의 혼합효과가 자연스럽게 이어지는 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 다섯째, 마크라메의 엮어지는 형태는 다양한 투각의 공간미를 창출하며, 그물을 연상하게 하여 '바다' 이미지를 표현하기에 적합하다.
