초등음악교사의 자질에 관한 연구

Abstract

아동을 대상으로 하는 음악교육은 초등교사의 자질과 음악적 전문성이라는 두가지 분야를 포함한 교사의 자질을 바탕으로 이루어져야 한다. 이 두 요인이 충분히 갖추어졌을 때 바람직한 초등음악교육이 이루어질 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구의 목적은 현재 우리나라 초등음악교육을 담당하고 있는 공 사립 음악교사들의 자질을 초등교사의 자질과 음악적 전문성에 따라 분석하여 보는 데 있다. 연구의 결과는 초등음악교사 채용준거, 전현직 교육프로그램 개발, 초등음악교육을 위한 지원전략 수립에 필요한 기초자료가 될 것이다. 본 연구의 가설은 다음과 갈다. 1. 초등음악교사의 자질은 교사의 전공에 따라 유의한 차이가 있을 것이다. 2. 초등음악교사의 자질은 공사립간에 유의한 차이가 있을 것이다. 3. 현장에서 교사가 느끼는 어려운 점은 공사립간 차이가 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 서울소재의 77개 공립국민학교의 음악전담교사 77명과 사립 23개 국민학교의 음악전담교사 44명으로 부터 회수된 설문지를 자료로 사용하였다. 수집된 설문지 분석을 통하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 초등음악교사의 자질은 전공별로 유의한 차이를 보였다. (음악교사의 전공은 일반초등교육, 음악교육, 순수음악 등 세 종류였으나 순수음악의 경우 표본집단 수가 상대적으로 작아 여기에서는 일반초등교육과 음악교육의 결과만 요약하였다.) 음악교육을 전공한 교사의 초등음악교사의 자질이 일반 초등교육을 전공한 교사의 자질 보다 높게 나타났으며, 전공별 차이는 사립국민학교보다 공립국민학교 내에서 더욱 크게 나타났다. 2. 초등음악교사의 자질은 공사립간에 유의한 차이를 보였다. 공립국민학교와 사립국민학교 교사들의 초등음악교사의 자질은 사립의 교사들이 높게 나왔으며 공사립간 차이는 같은 전공내에서 음악교육을 전공한 집단보다 일반 초등교육을 전공한 교사집단에서 더욱 큰 것으로 나타났다. 3. 현장에서 음악교육을 하면서 어려운 점에 대한 의견은 공사립간 차이를 보였다. 공립국민학교의 교사들에게 있어 가장 어려운 점은 음악적 전문성의 자질 부족(51%)과 특히 반주능력 부족(24%)에 대한 것이었고 사립국민학교의 경우 국악교육(25%)에 대한 문제로 나타났다. 두 집단의 공통적인 의견은 자료의 부족에 대한 것으로 공립(17%), 사립(22%)의 교사들의 공통적으로 지적하였다.;This thesis aims to investigate characteristics of music teachers in elementary schools. More specifically, this study focuses on the difference between two groups of music teachers: one with degrees in music education and the other with degrees in general elementary education. In addition. the difference between private and public schools is also investigated. In order to achieve the goal, three major hypotheses have been established and they are: 1. the characterics of music teachers with degrees in music education are different from those of music teachers with degrees in general elementary education: 2. the characteristics of music teachers in public schools are different from those found in private schools: and 3. the difficulties faced by music teachers in public schools are different from those in private schools. A questionnaire entitled as "Elementary Music Teachers' Characteristics" was used for the survey. The questionnaire can be divided into two major portions; one about the characteristics of elementary school teachers and the other about the music professionalism. This study has collected responses from 121 music teachers: 77 in public schools and 44 in private schools. From the analysis of the responses, the following conclusions have been obtained. 1. There is a significant difference between the characteristics of the music teachers with degrees in music education and those of teachers with degrees in general elementary education. The first group of teachers has better characteristics than the second group. And the difference between two groups is more noticeable in public schools compared with the difference in private schools. 2. It has been found that the characteristics of the music teachers in private schools are different from those in public schools. The music teachers in private schools have better characteristics when compared with the teachers in public schools. Moreover, this difference is more significant when comparing the characteristics of the music teachers with degrees in general elementary education. 3. The music teachers in public schools have different difficulties than those experienced by the teachers in private schools. The public school teachers are most concerned about the lack of music professionalism(their insufficient music background) while the teachers in private schools are most concerned about teaching Korean traditional music. Both groups of teachers agree that it is very difficult to obtain proper materials for their class.
