패션일러스트레이션의 질감표현에 관한 연구

Abstract

Fashion illustration, in the beginning of forming its concept, was of a fixed concept to simply illustrate or draw dress, and however, nowadays with increased concern and diversification of fashion, it as positive, creative activity takes a part in the extension of the area of art. Therefore, in the expressional method of fashion illustration, choice of new materials was demanded, thereby requiring researches into the positive expressional technique which heightens visual effect with the revival of the characteristics of texture and the method of the expression of texture which can respond to the image and purpose of any dress while being effect in expression. In the present study, with recognition of the importance of the effective expression of the texture of a subject matter for the expression meeting the purpose of modern fashion illustration and having individuality, a semi-three-dimensional embossing technique was utilized on the surface of paper as an effective expressional method of texture. The purpose of the present study is to effectively introduce some woven stuff having the three-dimensional surface effect of matter through the paper-embossing technique which gives the feelings of a peculiar plastic beauty of shade by light as well as the visual and tactile senses of texture, and to heighten the decorative effect of fashion illustration as a diversified expressional method. For the theoretical background of this study, the definition, use, and historical transition of fashion were reviewed through some literature, and additionally some expressional techniques of illustration and the expression of texture according to subject matters were reviewed through some reference data and some works of fashion illustrators. Total 14 pieces of work were produced and introduced for the pupose of this study, which represent the subject matter of texture that is clearly composed. For general colors, the work pieces were processed of silkscreen with warm and soft colors by means of pastel, thereby intending the three-dimensional effect of embossing. The method of poduction was to make paper patterns from thick paper, then cut the forms intended to express, and put them on the paper pattern, and finally press them by a press. Conclusions based on such as study are as follows: First, the embossing technique emphasizing the expression of texture in fashion illustration is fit for the purpose of precisely expressing the beauty of dress and for the visual effect that sensually delivers the individuality of fashion illustrators and the subject of a work. Second, since in the fashion illustration of embossing technique, natural shade effect can be expected according to the jdirection of light and visual effect can be heightened by the projecting parts, it suggests there is the unlimited potential of three-dimensional plasticity. Third, since the embossing technique of fasion illustraton enables to express the visual sense of texture as well as the tactile sense of texture which can be felt directly by fingures-paper embossing, it delivers a plenty of senses to the public, thereby heightening the decorative effect of fashion illustration. Fourth, even though paper embossing has been majorly used for both techniques of press and print, with the introduction of a new expressional method of the texture of dress to the public, it suggests that more diversified roles of paper embossing can be materialized.;패션 일러스트레이션은 성립 초기엔 단순히 의복을 기록하는 고정화된 개념에 불과하였지만 오늘날에는 패션에 대한 관심의 증대와 다양화로 적극적인 창작활동으로서, 표현의 예술 영역을 확대 시키고 있다. 패션 일러스트레이션의 표현방법에 있어서도 새로운 재료의 선택이 요구되었고 의상이 지니고 있는 재질감의 특징을 살려 시각적효과를 높여주는 적극적인 표현 기법과 의상의 이미지와 목적성에 부합되면서, 효과적일수 있는 질감표현의 방법을 연구하게 되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 개성있는 표현기법으로 소재의 입체적인 질감을 효과적으로 표현하고자 종이표면에 반입체적 엠보싱 기법을 사용하였다. 본연구의 목적은 빛에 의한 음영효과의 독특한 조형미와 함께 시각적 촉각적 재질감을 느낄수 있는 종이 엠보싱기법을 통하여 소재가 지니고 있는 입체적 표면의 재질감을 대중에게 효과적으로 전달하고 인체와 의상실루엣의 과감한 생략의 표현으로 패션 일러스트레이션의 예술성과 장식적 효과를 높이는데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로 패션 일러스트레이션의 정의와 패션 일러스트레이션의 역사 및 기능과 용도를 문헌을 통하여 고찰하고, 일러스트레이션의 표현 기법과 엠보싱의 개념 및 종류, 직물 소재에 따른 엠보싱 표현기법을 참고 자료와 작가들의 작품을 통하여 살펴보았다. 작품제작은 총 14점으로 질감의 입체적인 표면효과가 뚜렷하게 구성된 텍스츄어의 소재를 표현하였고 전체적인 색상은 아이보리 계열의 파스텔톤으로 따뜻하고 부드러운 색상으로 실크스크린 하여, 엠보싱의 입체적 효과를 높이고자 하였다. 제작방법은 두꺼운 종이를 소재로 형지를 만들어 그위에 표현 하고자 하는 형태를 커팅하여 붙인뒤, 판화용 종이를 놓고 에칭 프레스(Press;압착기계 )로 눌러 제작하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 패션 일러스트레이션의 질감표현을 강조한 엠보싱 기법은 의상의 아름다움을 정확히 표현하는 목적성과 함께 작가의 개성 및 작품의 주제를 감각적으로 전달하는 시각적 효과에 적합하다. 둘째, 엠보싱 기법의 패션 일러스트레이션은 빛의 방향에 따라서 자연스러운 음영효과를 기대할수 있고, 돌출부위로 시각적 효과를 높힐 수 있으므로, 부조적 표현의 입체적 조형성에 대한 무한한 가능성을 제시하였다. 세째, 엠보싱 기법의 패션 일러스트레이션은 시각적 재질감(Visual Texture)과 함께 손으로 직접만져서 느낄 수 있는 촉각적 재질감(Tactile Texture)을 동시에 표현함으로써, 대중에게 풍부한 감각을 전달하며 일러스트레이션의 예술성과 장식적 효과를 높일 수 있었다. 네째, 종이 엠보싱은 주로 인쇄와 판화의 기법으로 사용되어 왔지만, 패션 일러스트레이션에 있어서 의상소재의 질감표현 방법으로 새로이 시도하여 봄으로써 보다 다양한 역할이 가능함을 알수 있었다.
