COFFEE-SET 디자인개발에 관한 연구

Abstract

현대 도자예술은 흙이라는 재료를 통하여 인간의 사상과 정서와 일상생활의 기록 등을 조형언어로 표현하고자 하는 욕구와 함께 새로운 조형예술로서 점차 자리를 잡아가고 있다. 이와함께 현대 도예가들의 작품제작 성향은 기형태 보다는 조형성을 추구하는 도조, 오브제, 환경도예 등의 형태가 대형화되어가는 방향으로 흐르고 있다. 이에 우리 도예가들은 이런 작품제작에 필요한 소재를 요구하고 있으며 현재 종이는 도자조형의 아이디어 소재로서 많이 사용되고 있다. 종이는 중국에서 발명된이래 많은 변형을 거쳐 오늘날까지 진행해내려 오면서 이미지 전달의 매개체, 정보의 저장수단 등 종이의 다양한 기능 중 예술 소재로서의 기능 역시 종이가 발명된 이래 지속적으로 그 소임을 다하여 왔다. 종이의 모양과 형태를 관찰해 보면, 종이 특유의 질감, 형태, 여러가지 재미있는 표현 효과등 무한한 조형 가능성을 발견할 수 있으며, 그러한 조형 가능성은 종이작업이란 행위를 통하여 현대 조형세계의 새로운 영역을 확장시키게 되었다. 본 연구의 동기는 종이의 성질을 응용한 작업의 새로운 조형적 형태 연구와 종이의 다양한 작업에 의한 관심에서 시작되었으며, 여기에서 얻어지는 표현방법을 소재로 COFFEE-SET제작에 적용하므로 신선한 생활용기를 개발하고자 하는데 연구의 목적을 가지고 있다. COFFEE-SET 제작에는 종이의 성질을 응용한 작업중에서 접기, 구기기, 자르기, 찢기, 오려붙이기를 응용하여 일부 또는 전체적인 형태에 적용하였다. 본론에서는 의사표시 전달도구로서의 종이가 고대 이집트 파피루스에 의해서 출현한 것과 작가의 내면적 정신세계를 표현하는 조형적 작품활동의 소재로서의 종이의사용과 종이 재료를 새로운 각도에서 파악하기 시작한 종이 작업의 기원이 큐비즘, 미래주의, 다다이즘, 슈리얼리즘이며 죠르쥬 브라크나 파블로 파카소등의 큐비스트에 의해 빠삐에 콜레스 시도된것을 알아 보았다. 아울러 종이의 조형재료로서의 특징과 성질 -접기, 붙이기, 구기기, 찢기, 자르기, 말기- 에 대해서 알아 보았다. 커피세트 디자인의 일반적 고찰에서는 커피세트의 발달을 간단히 살펴보고, 커피세트의 구성-커피컵, 잔받침, 설탕기, 밀크기, 커피포트등-을 알아보고 커피세트 제작에 필요한 특성을 이해하였다. 또, 현대 종이 조형작가-조우지프 저커, 케롤라인 그린월드, 니더엘-하이라이, 수잔앤커, 찰스힐거-들의 작품표현 방법의 특징에 대해서 알아보고 종이의 광범위한 예술소재로서의 사용을 이해하고자 하였다. 작품제작 방법에 있어서는 종이의 깨끗한 질감을 그대로 표현해주기 위하여 대량생산이 가능한 이장주입기버(Slip casting)을 사용하였다. 그리고 태도의 사용은 식기로서의 기능을 고려하여 백새도가 높은 고려도토를 사용하였으며, <작품2,3,4>는 다양하고 아름다운 색상을 표현하기 위해 색토를 사용하였다. 1차 소성은 가스를 연료로하는 0.5㎥ 가마에서 9시간에 걸쳐 820℃까지 소성하였으며, 2차 소성도 같은 가마에서 12시간동안 산화소성하였고 마침온도는 1250℃였다. 일부는 효과를 높이기 위하여 전기가마에서 전사지를 사용하여 800℃에서 3차 소성하였다. 유약은 투명유와 Matt유로 담금법하였다. 종이는 오늘날 많은 예술가들의 아이디어 소재로서 인정받고 있으며, 종이의 종류와 기능이 다양해짐에 따라 그것에 대한 활용도 다양해지고 있다. 아울러 여러가지 종이의 여러가지 입체적인 조형을 시도해 봄으로써 종이의 풍부한 표현 가능성을 실험할 수 있었다. 이러한 과정을 통해서 본 연구자는 종이의 성질에 의해서 표현되는 여러 재미있는 효과를 파악하고, 이것이 순수한 흙이라는 재료로 만들어진 COFFEE-SET에 적용됨으로써 단순한 식기의 개념에서 탈피하고, 도자식기의 조형미를 갖는 예술작품으로 표현될때 우리의 생활은 좀더 신선해질 수 있다는 것을 알았다.;With a hope to express our thought, emotion, and daily life as a form of formative vocabularies through earth, the modern pattern art is getting established as a new formative art. In this trend, modern patterns seem to be likely to pursue after the formativeness rather than pattern in their production styles, with which they produce large ceramic sculpture, objects, or environmental concerned ceramic wares. So, potters need more materials for such products. In fact, paper is one of the favorite ones to be used to get good ideas for ceramic formativeness. Careful observation of its patterns and forms will reveal a limitless possibility of formativeness ranging from special felling and pattern peculiar to paper to a variety of funny, expressive effects, which expend the new circle of modern plastic world through the paper work. This study is motivated from the interest in the various works with paper and the study of new plastic patterns with paper and aims at developing fresh cases which can be used in our daily life by applying the good ideas resulting from the study said before to the production of coffee set. 'To produce the coffee set, among many working methods folding, wrinkling, cutting, tearing, and pasting are employed and applied to the whole or section of patterns. This study discusses the appearance of paper as an agency of expression, the ue of paper as materials for formative works to express the minds of artists, and the origin of paper from which it started to be viewed from the different viewpoint. Additionally, the features and characteristics of paper as a formative material such a s folding, attaching, wrinkling, tearing, cutting, or rolling are looked into. To produce the coffee set, a slip casting of plaster is taken to express the clean feeling of paper as it. For earth material, Milyang white clay with good whiteness is employed to take into consideration its functions as a table service and some colored clay is used to express various, beautiful colors. The first heating production has been made in a kiln of 0.5㎥ for 9 hours at 820℃ using gas. The second, oxidized heating production has been made in the same kiln for 12 hours at the finishing temperature of 1250℃. Some pieces which have to be expressed more notably undergo the third heating in a electric kiln at 800℃. Glaze is dipped in clean oil and matt. Now paper plasticity is used as one of the art form and becomes to be utilized in various fields, as its kinds and functions get increasingly diversified. Many present artists recognize paper as one of the real, artistic materials in creating works and attempt to expreiment its rich expressiveness by producing many patterns from it at various levels. As such, the plasticity of paper is explored through this course and it is expected that our life can grwo lively when such as element is applied to the production of a coffee set which is also a work of art, not merely a cup.
