환경철학의 존재론적 근거

Abstract

환경문제에 직면하면서 인간은 환경에 대한 비판적 재검토를 수행하게 되었다. 이 검토는 여러 영역에서 이루어지고 있으며 거기에는 환경에 대한 철학적 기반에 대한 논의들도 함께 이루어지고 있다. 환경철학의 근본물음 중의 하나가 환경철학에서의 존재론적 영역의 물음인 자연관의 문제이다. 인류역사 이래로 인간은 자연에 대한 탐구를 계속해 왔으며 그 자연관에 의거하여 인간과 자연의 관계를 규정지어 왔다. 근대 이후, 자연을 바라보는 주된 자연관은 기계론적 자연관이었다. 기계론적 자연관은 물질이 사유와 정신과는 무관하게 존재하며 오로지 물질적 인과성만이 작동하므로 자연적 유기체에 관한 한, 환원적 설명이 가능하다는 이해를 함축하고 있다. 기계론적 자연관의 전제가 되는 ㅈ정신과 물질의 이분법은 주체와 객체, 인간과 자연의 이분법에 상응한다. 그런데 근세적 세계관의 기반을 이루어온 자연관에서는 이러한 주객 이분법에서 정신, 주체, 인간이 존재론적 우위를 점하게 된다. 그래서 자연은 인간을 통해 규정되고 인간에 의해 그 모습을 드러내게 된다. 이로 인해서 인간의 자연에 대한 조절과 지배가 정당화되었으며, 지금의 생태계의 위기가 초래되었다. 필자는 이러한 기계론적 자연관이 환경문제의 근원적인 원인을 제공했다는 것을 전제하고 자연관에 대한 검토을 시도하고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 기계론적 자연관의 한계를 지적하고 그 대안적 자연관을 유기체론적 자연관에서 찾고자 한다. 유기체론적 자연관에서는 자연의 부분들이 서로 밀접히 의존해 있으며 하나의 존재 그물망으로 긴밀히 연결되어 있는 역동적인 자연의 모습을 상정한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 스피노자의 자연관과 라이프니쯔의 단자론에서 유기체론적 자연관의 단초들을 찾는 것에서 출발하여 화이트헤드의 자연관에서 그 구체적인 모습을 정리하게 될 것이다. 이는 '잘못 놓여진 구체성의 오류' 의 지적을 통해 근대 자연관의 한계를 지적하고, 관계적 범주에서의 사건개념을 설정하는 것으로 유기체론적인 자연관을 드러내게 될 것이다. 그리고 유기체론적 자연관을 자연과학의 진화론과 생태론의 성과를 바탕으로 정리함으로써, 유기체론적 자연관이 함축하고 있는 전체론을 보이고자 한다. 그런 전체론에 입각한 인간의 모습은 전체 자연의 부분으로 상정되며 이 둘의 관계는 상호 필연적인 관계로 드러날 것이다. 또한 환경철학의 존재론적 근거가 되는 자연관이 가치관을 수반한다는 것을 보임으로써 환경에 대한 인간의 책임의 근거를 마련하게 될 것이다. 마지막으로, 환경철학의 확장가능성을 철학의 다른 영역과 환경과학에서 찾아 보는 것으로 논문을 마치고자 한다.;Facing to environmental crisis, human beings became to reflect on nature. There are many ways to examine into environment. One of them is a philosophical approach. In this thesis, I try to examine about relationship between human beings and nature. Since modem era, the main view point of nature was a mechanism. It's ontological foudation is a dualism, which assums that in nature there are material causation and reduction. And dualism gives priority to human's spirit than nature. So human beings can control nature without limits. I find out that the reason of environmenatal problems and ecological crisis is the view point of mechanical nature which is based on the dichotomy of human beings and nature. I pick up it's limits and shaw the alternative view point, organism As ontological base of environmental philosophy, organism assums that human beings are part of nature and there are correlationship ,which is organic, mutural dependent. And we can find a dynamic net of nature as 'Becoming'. Through examing Spinoza's nature, Leibniz's Monadology and Whitehaed's philosophy of organism, I show the organism as the ontological base on environmetal philosophy. AN. Whitehead criticized modern cosmology by 'Fallacy of Misplaced Concreteness' and built up the concept of 'event' or 'actual entity'. In natural science, evolution and ecology has relation to the organism, which are holism. Concerning relationship between human beings and nature, human beings are part of nature and thier corelationship is necessary. And environmental ontology supervenes values, which can be based on responsibility for environment. And I search for the possibilities of environmental philosophy with other sections, which are environmental ethics, philoosophy of society and science and so on.
