컴퓨터 프로그램에 의한 날염 디자인 연구

Abstract

Nature has been the subject of art from the beginning, and artists, responding to it, have worked on their feelings by producing new images. Thee was time when people merely refelected Nature as it is, but from some point on, they began to express its images that were internalized within themselves. Today the degree of such internalization is greatly enhanced due to the advancement of diverse material as well as to the development of technology. On the other hand, there is certain imperative in modern society to combine the artistic impulse with pragmatic need. Extending the art of screen-printing as , a method or realizing such conjuction is the purpose of this article. Paticularly such goal is approached here with an eye to screen-printing 's application to garment design. For this, on the one hand, the history of art in Its relation to Nature has been carefully reviewed; on the other hand, the current environment of textile industry is analyzed. With this research in background, I chose to investigate the theme of "wave image'' as a motif for artistic reflection to be utlized for garment design. The followings are the main ideas resulted from this study. First, Nature has always been the source of human aesthetic enrichment: From man Nature draws his wonder, which has been the unceasing motor of ever new creation. And such creation makes up the history of art. Second, images of nature has grown from mere imitation to internalized abstraction with the development of art. Third, the application of new technology, i.e. computer-aided design enabls to produce images or patterns not available before. Forth, textile design can be benefited by the efforts to bring together the two diverging spheres, Nature and technology.;예술가는 오래전부터 자연을 표현의 대상으로 삼아왔으며, 이를 근원으로 하여 생겨나는 내적인 감정을 작가의 독창적인 방법으로 형상화시켜 새로운 미를 표현한다. 이러한 자연의 표현은 시대의 변화에 따라 자연 그 자체를 표현하는데 그치지 않고, 예술가의 독창성을 중시하여 자신의 주관과 내적인 표현에 의해 자연의 이미지를 재구성하여 표현한다. 현대사회는 다양한 재료와 기술의 발전으로 인하여 표현방법의 범위가 무한히 확대되었는데 본 연구에서는 예술가의 예술체험의 대상인 자연을 연구자의 내적 심상과 결합시켜 이미지화하고, 이를 통해 독창적인 날염디자인의 창조 가능성에 주목하여 이를 실용화하는 한 방편으로 스클린 프린팅 기법을 이용해 특히 의상패턴으로 활용하려는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로는 우선 자연과 예술정신 간의 관계 및 그것의 표현으로서의 이미지에 대해 예술사 관계문헌과 참고서적을 통해 검토해 보며, 아울러 실용화의 조건이 되는 섬유산업의 현황도 개관해 보고자 한다. 이러한 검토를 바탕으로 컴퓨터 프로그램을 활용, 자연 이미지 중에 특히 물결이미지의 다양한 형태를 창출하여 현대인의 예술적 심상에 다가가고자 하며, 더 나아가 이를 의상에 적용해 봄으로써 그 실용화의 가능성을 모색해 보고자 하였다. 전체적으로 이러한 이론과 실제 작품제작을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 자연은 인간의 영원한 예술적, 심미적 원칙이며, 현대의 복잡한 삶을 반성케하는 인간정신의 원형적 공간이다. 인간의 예술정신이 단순한 모방에 그치지 않고 자연에서 다양한 이미지를 창출함으로 해서 예술사는 풍성하게 발전되어 왔다. 둘째, 자연에서 볼 수 있는 여러 이미지들은 인간의 역사발전 단계에 따라 단순화된 이미지에서 점차 복잡화된 이미지로 혹은 추상적 형태로 발전하였다. 셋째, 제작방법으로 컴퓨터 프로그램을 활용하여 자연 이미지의 대중화를 기도하였으며, 기존의 수공업적 방법에서 볼 수 없었던 새로운 이미지의 창출이 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 인간 예술체험의 원초적 고향인 자연과 첨단 산업 기술의 만남을 모색한 이론적 검토와 그것의 의상에의 적용을 통하여, 앞으로 계속적인 연구와 실험이 이루어진다면 좀더 창조적이고도 대중적인 의상예술이 가능함을 알 수 있었다.
