자연에서 유추된 상징적 의미

Abstract

In Twentieth century ,modern art tends to have a pluralism for having various modality in one age instead of having one certain art modality , so it has the diversity which explained with theoretical system and shows non-continuity. Post-modernism is the answer for the situation where modernism lost its ultimate substance. Post-modernism is also a new wave of art that defies modernism for its limitation and understands arts as the structure of Meaning that has its own life. Post-modernism movement has been developed in various ways to resist the world that is in danger for distrust in reason, side-effects of technologies, contaminated environment, exhausted natural resources. In arts it directs to a recurrence to the nature and the understanding human nature. The main theme of post-modernism is to understand an individual identity in the age where the identity of an individual is lost. Also, it continues its effort to sustain the role of art as an critique to the society and to manifest a individualism. In the age of post-modernism where modernism is being overcome, importance of content is being emphasized and meaning that conjoin form and content are being widened, I intend to revive the human spirit and to express my value inhered in my experience. I intend to suggest the invisible world through symbolic images with the intention that there exists more truthful world than commonly believed reality. Therefore, as an colorfield painter, I refer to Barnett Newman and Mark Rothko's spirit who concentrated on expressing religious conception. I took the image of water which is the part of nature as an subject matter. By taking water as a subject matter, I explored the meaning of symbols of water concentrating on values of Christianity. For the mode of expression, I selected paints that can appeal to the perceptual emotion to express images that implies spiritual world. Then, I explained the process of the induction of spatial implication by using the transparence of paints, uniform flows, deep matiere, and objects in three dimensional space. Finally, I would like to explore the potent of new direction and to reevaluate my work by presenting and analyzing my Paintings.;20 세기 현대미술은 특정한 미술양식이 아닌 여러 미술양식이 같은 시대에 병존하게 됨으로써 다원주의적 경향을 띄게 되며 현대미술은 비연속적이며 이론체계에 맞추어질 수 없는 다양성을 지닌다. 이러한 상장에서 포스트 모더니즘은 궁극적 실체를 잃어버린 모더니즘의 한계를 규정짓고 미술을 어떤 생명력을 가진 의미구조로 파악하는 새로운 경향으로 대두된 것이다. 이성에 대한 불신, 기술공학의 부작용, 오염된 공기와 물, 자원의 고갈등으로 위협받고 있는 세계에 대한 일종의 항거로서 포스트 모던운동은 문화전반에 걸쳐 다각적으로 일어났으며, 예술에 있어서는 자연에로의 회귀와 함께 인간본성을 인식하고 드러내고자 하는 움직임을 갖는다. 이렇듯 포스트 모더니즘은 주체 상실 시대속에 개인의 정체성을 바르게 파악하는 것을 주요 과제로 삼으며 예술의 진정한 비판력과 개인성의 참다운 발현을 모색하는 노력을 계속한다. 형식위주의 모더니즘 한계를 극복하고, 내용의 중요성을 부각시키며 형식과 내용을 결합하는 의미가 확산되는 포스트 모더니즘의 시대속에서, 본인은 인간정신의 회복과 경험을 통한 가치관을 표현하는 것을 작품제작의 주된 의도로 삼고있다. 본인은 작품을 제작하는데 있어 통상적인 현실세계보다 더 참된 세계가 존재한다고 보는 입장에서 정신성을 강조하고자 상징적 이미지를 통하여 비가시적 세계를 암시하고자 하였다. 색면추상화가로서 색이나 형식보다는 인간의 기본적인 정서, 특히 종교적 심상을 표현하는데 관심을 쏟았던 마크 로드코나 바네트 뉴만 의 정신성을 참고로 하고 또한 자연의 일부인 물(水)을 소재로 선택하여 물이 상징하는 여러가지 의미를 기독교적 가치관에 중점을 두어 연구하고자 하였다. 표현 방법으로는 정신세계를 암시하는 이미지표현을 위하여 감각적 정서에 호소할 수 있는 물질적 안료를 선택하였으며, 안료의 투명성, 일률적 흐름, 두터운 마띠에르, 그리고 3차원적 오브제의 사용으로 공간적 암시를 유도하게 된 과정을 설명하였다. 마지막으로 본인작품을 분석함으로써 작업에 대한 반성과 함께 새로운 방향의 가능성을 모색해 보고자 한다.
