Abstract
The purpose of this study is to suggest an ideal ballet education model for young children provided increasingly by private culture centers on the assumption that the early ballet education through physical activities is one of the most important elements for education of children for the whole man. As the optimum age for the early ballet education seems to be 7 and 12 years old, the program of education program shall be provided by culture centers. To recognize the importance and necessity of early ballet education and to facilitate design an ideal program, the history of ballet is examined and the importance of the early ballet is looked into in terms of three parts : physcis, society, emotion. Also, to understand which early ballet education is performed at the culture centers, five culture centers are chosen and their education system are analyzed to show their problems. Designing the ballet education program requires to describe the children's developmental features, to explore the contents of basic, practical learning, and to look into the quality of teachers who have direct influence on young students. Some program are desinged for early ballet education in private culture centers on the basis of such analysis. Their important findings are as follows: First, the education purpose of this program shall be to correct the body, to build up the basic physical strength, and to develop various educational fields in harmony through ballet. Second, it is recommended that the frequency and duration of ballet class shall be more than two times per week and one hour, respectively. Third, ideally, a class consists of 10 to 15 students and teo teachers - one main and an assistant - lead the class. Four, childrens are encouraged to start praticipating the claa at 7 pr 12 year when their muscles and bones grow fastest. Five, the children should have enough floor and barre(90cm to 1m high) and mirrors on at least two walls all of which are suitable to the physical conditions of young children. Furthermore, music with easy and plain rhyhem to children is played to help them to be familliar with a variety of rhtym. Six, most of what are taught in the class shall be empasized on basic practices such as wraming -up, barre-work, streching, and center-work and their movements shall not be complex but simple so that students learn them repetitively to expand their skill step by step. Seven, teaching points are that children are encouraged to learn correct position and movement and not to be develope bad habits themselves. Teachers also should try to teach them that they can develop naturally without their phsiaue damaged. Finally, it is advisable to pass a informal crticism in class for students to be motivated spontaneously and to have one performance or things like that per year, in which students are induced to participate actively and to have themselves exprassed as they wish. Just before the end of each term, every student is estimate'd to determine next program for the student who want further study. And, every new student undergose simple test to receive his or her class. It is advisable to classify the grade of class into three grades : an elemenary, intermediate, and senior courses.
