Olivier Messiaen의 La Nativite du Seigneur에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 Olivier Messiaen(1908-1992) 의 오르간 작품인 「La Nativite´ du Seigneur」(그리스도의 탄생, 1935)의 분석을 통해 작품의 특징과 그의 음악 기법을 살펴봄으로써 그의 음악을 이해 하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 20세기 초의 음악의 흐름에는 Messiaen에게 지대한 영향을 끼치는 세가지 음악적 경향이 있는데, 그것은 민족적인 요소를 활용하는 음악 양식, 신고전주의적 경향, 그리고 음렬음악의 발전이다. Messiaen은 이 세가지 음악적 흐름을 폭넓게 받아들이는 가운데서도 어느 한 조류에 국한 될 수 없는 독특한 세계를 구축하였다. 그의 음악은 부모로부터 받은 문학적 감수성, 색체적 감각, 독실한 신앙, 자연과 새에 대한 애정, 이국적 요소 등의 영향이 결합되어 특징적 성격을 나타내고 있다. 그는 이런 다양한 소재들을 그의 음악에 첨가시켜 독특한 음악기법을 창조했으며 특히 「나의 음악 어법」(Technique de mon langage musical)이란 저서에서 그 자신의 독특한 작곡기법을 설명해주었다. 「La Nativite´ du Seigneur」는 그리스도의 탄생을 찬미하는, 9곡으로 구성된 명상 모음곡이다. 이 작품에서는 첨가가치를 갖는 리듬, 힌두 리듬, 새소리 리듬 등 그가 연구해 온 리듬의 발전을 보여준다. 또한 조옮김이 제한된 선법과 그 선법에 의한 화성, 중·감음정을 집약시켜 놓았으며 확대된 장식음과 전타음(appoggiatura), 갑작스러운 전조나 동형진행 등을 보여주고 있다. Messiaen은 독특하고 창조적인 음악기법을 확립하고 체계화 된 이론으로 제시하여 현대의 작곡가들에게 많은 영향을 주고 있으며 20세기 음악에 있어서 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다.;The purpose of this thesis is to inspire an understanding of the organ music of Olivier Messiaen(1908-1992) through a study of his work 「La Nativite´ du Seigneur」(l935). There are considerations about characteristics of his work and his musical techniques through the analysis of this work. Messiaen's music was influenced by three early 20th Century music trends. They are: the identification of one's own cultural musical style: Neo-Classical music: and the development of serial music. Even though Messiaen accepted the above three influences, he created his own unique musical characteristics. Messiaen's music was influenced by a combination of his: inherited sensibility of literature: sensibility of colors: devout Catholicism: love of nature and birds: and exoticism. These factors are evidenced in the peculiar characteristics of his music. He is one of the most important composers of the 20th Century. He included a variety of sources and created unique musical techniques. Especially, he explained his musical language in 「The Techniques of My Musical Language」(Technique de mon Langage Musical). 「La Nativite´ du Seigneur」is a work praising the birth of Jesus Christ. It is composed of nine meditations for organ. It revealed added value, Hindu rhythm, and bird song rhythm. This clearly showed his contribution to the study of rhythm. It revealed the modes of limited transposition, harmony based on the modes, augmented and diminished interval, augmented ornament and appoggiatura, sudden transposition, sequence. Messiaen established a peculiar and creative musical technique. He also presented a systematic musical theory, which has greatly influenced modern composers, and established for him a very important position in the 20th Century Music.
