Knottong기법을 활용한 조형표현연구

Abstract

The fiber arts participated in the tendency of the times in modern arts and have enlarged the conciousness of the plastic arts by developing various kinds of expressions and materials. Therefore, today's fiber arts are changing from the past two dimensional expression mode to the new dimensional plastic mode which shows the expression style of three dimensions. After the 20C, fiber artists deny the fixed idea to art and art for arts sake and they generate relievable techniques by applicating and developing the skills used for utility in ancient techniques, so that they enable the artist to increase ability of new expression of plastic arts. Among the various skills that express relitf style, the form through the use of knotting can elevate the effect of work, and also exhibit plasticity harmonizing with space. In this paper I considered the origin and characteristics of knotting, observed in literature written about this subject and works of artist. And also through the work-production, a new expressional possibility by knotting has been researched, and eventually, the purpose of this paper is the study on the plastic value. In the work production, a natural material used and I tried to express image of nature from the emotions of inner mind. If this knotting is used on the basis of the fiber artists technical research and their experimental spirit, it can, fully utilized, exhibit infinite possibilities in creation of relief style.;섬유예술은 다양해진 표현매체의 기법과 소재개발의 발전 및 다분화된 인간지각의 발달로 말미암아 무한한 조형행위의 가능성을 가지고 자유분방한 예술전반의 시대적 조류 속에 과감히 참여하고 있다. 따라서 현대섬유예술에서는 과거의 2차원적 표현형식에서 벗어나 3차원의 부피를 갖는 조각적 작품으로까지 그들의 표현영역을 확대하는 새로운 차원의 조형형식으로 변하고 있다. 20세기 이후 섬유예술가들은 예술에 대한 고정관념과 순수예술지상주의를 거부하고, 여러 고대의 기법들을 재발견하고 응용 개발함으로써 새로운 표현확대의 가능성을 가진 부조형태의 기법을 이끌어 냈다. 부조형태를 표현하는 여러 기법 중에서 Knotting기법을 활용하여 표현되는 형태는 위사의 길이·색상·굵기 등에 의해 다양한 변화를 가져오며 재료의 변화에 따르는 표면재질감과 중량감을 볼 수 있다. 또한 Knotting기법 자체가 가지고 있는 부조적 특성과 2차원적인 평면에 3차원적 공간감을 형성하여 깊이를 느끼게 해주는 점을 고려해 볼 때 Knotting기법의 활용은 무한한 창작 가능성을 가져다준다. 본 논문에서는 Knotting기법을 중심으로 기원 및 조형적 특성을 문헌과 작가들의 작품을 통하여 고찰하였고 실제 작품에서는 Knotting기법을 활용하여 질감의 효과 및 부조적 특성에 의한 조형적 가치를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 인간의 본능적인 욕구 시각이나 촉각에 의해 요구되어지는 내면세계의 감정을 자연의 이미지로 결합시켜 표현하였다.
