라인홀드 니이버의 기독교 현실주의와 맑스주의 이해에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 오늘날 신학계에서 일고 있는 맑스주의 사용문제에 관한 논쟁에 입각해서, 이 문제에 대한 해결의 실마리를 제공하고자 라인홀드 니이버의 기독교 현실주의와 그의 맑스주의에 대한 이해를 고찰한 것이다. 제1장은 서론으로서 본 논문의 연구동가 및 목적을 밝히고, 이에 따르는 연구방법 및 한계성을 제시한다. 제2장은 니이버의 생애를 중심으로 한 그의 사상의 발전단계를 다룬다. 이를 통해 그의 사상적 전환이 시대적, 역사적 상황에 근거한 것임을 밝히고, 그럼으로써 그의 경험에 입각한 실용주의를 이러한 사상적 전환에도 불구하고 인정되는 그의 일관성의 근거로 제시한다. 제3장은 니이버의 사회윤리의 이론적 기반이 되는 그의 신학적 인간론을 다루고, 사랑과 정의의 변증법적 관계를 분석함으로써 니이버의 사회윤리의 구조를 밝힌다. 또한 그의 사회윤리의 실천에 대한 비판으로서, 이러한 사회윤리적 틀이 2차대전 이후 미국 국내정세 및 국제정세를 분석하는 데 사용된 면을 밝히고, 이에 대한 "기존 체제의 이데올로기"라는 비판의 타당성을 제시한다. 제4장은 니이버가 맑스주의에 심취했던 1930년대와 공산주의를 비판하기 시작한 1940년대를 통해, 그의 맑스주의에 대한 현실주의적 이해를 분석함으로써 니이버가 맑스주의를 그의 신학의 도구로서 선택적으로 사용했음을 밝힌다. 결론적으로 이와같은 니이버의 맑스주의에 대한 현실주의적 이해를 근거로 니이버의 맑스주의에 대한 이해와 해방신학 사이의 유사점을 밝힘으로써, 제3세계신학 특히 해방신학에서의 맑스주의 사용문제에 대한 긍정적인 평가를 내리고자 한다.;In view of recent dispute regarding the application of Marxism in the theological community, this thesis is an attempt to find a clue to resolving the controversy by studying Niebuhr's Christian realism and his understanding of Marxism. Chapter Ⅰ is an introduction, showing the motive and purpose of this study and presenting the research method and limits. Chapter Ⅱ treats the developing stages of Reinhold Niebuhr's idea mainly on his life. Through this, it showed that his ideological conversion was based on the historic circumstance of his time. In spite of his ideological conversion, there is consistency in his thought. This consistency can be traced in his pragmatism which is based on his experience of life. Chapter Ⅲ, treats Reinhold Niebuhr's theological doctrine of man which became his theological basis of social ethics, and analyzes the dialectic relation of Love and Justice, and the structure of Reinhold Niebuhr's social ethics. Also, as a criticism on the practice of his social ethics, it explains the aspects of this framework for social ethics which was used to analyze America's domestic problems and international problems after the second world war, and presented the validity of criticizing his theory as an ''ideology of the establishment". Chapter Ⅳ, shows that Niebuhr selectively used Marxism as his theological tool through the 1930's which Niebuhr infactuated with Marxism and the 1940's which he criticized communism. In conclusion, on the basis of Niebuhr's such a realistic understanding about Marxim, it shows similarity between Niebuhr's understanding of Marxism and Liberation Theology. The thesis makes an affirmative judgement on the issue of applying Marxims by Third World theology, especially, in Liberation Theology.
