대나무 이미지를 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

복식을 연구하는 방식은 크게 네가지로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 즉, 복식의 역사적인 흐름을 보는 연구, 사회적인 수용성을 보는 연구, 복식생산 과정에 필요한 소재·구성 등에 관한 연구, 그리고 복식이 지니고 있는 미학적인 측면에 대한 연구이다. 본 논문에 있어서는 이러한 네가지 연구방식 중에서 미적인 접근에 치중하여 「대나무」라는 하나의 자연물을 응용한 의상디자인을 전개하고 있다. 이러한 「대나무」 이미지를 디자인화하여 의상에 적용하기 위해서 다음의 세가지 방법을 이용했다. 첫째, 자연 속에 존재하는 대나무의 모습을 미학적인 측면에서 바라봄으로써 직접적인 디자인 아이디어를 도출했다. 둘째, 한국인의 의식 속에 존재하는 대나무의 이미지를 형상화 하기 위해 문헌을 조사하고, 이러한 문헌조사를 바탕으로 한국인이 느끼는 대나무에 대한 감성을 간접적으로 도출했다. 세째, 대나무를 이용한 죽세공품의 조형미를 관찰함으로써 응용된 대나무 이미지를 의상에 적용했다. 이러한 과정을 통해 창조적 모티브를 얻고 이에 따라 총 8작품의 의상을 제작했다. 작품의 소재는 한국적인 요소를 강조하기 위해 5작품은 수직실크를 사용했고, 화려한 분위기를 내기 위해 2작품은 공단을 사용했으며, 1작품은 대나무의 딱딱한 분위기와 대조적인 울을 이용하여 제작했다. 이러한 작품제작 과정을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 「대나무」와 같이 특정대상을 주제로 디자인 모티브를 도출하는 방식을 제시했다. 이러한 방식은 자연형상에서 직접적으로 도출하는 것, 대나무에 대한 의식을 살펴보는 것, 죽세공품에 나타난 응용된 이미지를 이용하는 것으로 제시되었다. 둘째, 동양적이고 한국적인 디자인 소재를 이용하고 이에 한국인의 미의식을 반영하는 것은 궁극적으로 「한국적인」디자인을 도출하는 것으로 인식 할 수 있었다. 세째, 「대나무」이미지를 한국적인 수직실크, 화려한 이미지의 공단 그리고 부드러운 울과 같이 다양한 소재를 이용해 표현했다. 네째, 미적인 측면이 강조된 의상도 사회적으로 수용될 수 있어야 한다는 관점에서 작품구성에 실용성을 가미했다.;The approach of clothing can be classified by the interest of the researcher. Two basic approaches in clothing are 'creativity' and 'practicality'. Creativity in fashion design has two aspects, that is, historical and artistic aspects. On the other hand, practicality in clothing has social and productional aspects. In this thesis, I chose the artistic aspect. Of course, I didn't ignore the other aspects, but my main interest was to creat new fashion desgin by applicating the image of bamboo. To design the image of bamboo, this thesis developed three methods. First, I caught the design idea directly by observing the bamboo in ecological view. Second, indirectly I attempted to find our traditional views on bamboo. Especially I caught the idea in the 'Four gracious plants' and the 'Ten long life things' about which Koreans had some typical idea. Third, I observed the product made of bamboo. The product was, of course, artificial thing, but observing the product made of bamboo had another motif to catch idea. In these methods, I caught the creative motifs. With these motifs, I presented eight works which were motivated by the ecological bamboo, traditional view on bamboo and artifical products made of bamboo. The conclusion of this thesis is as follows. First, the method to catch the design motif from bamboo is suggested. Bamboo is specific nature thing, so these methods can be utilized to design other nature things. Second, to pursuit the image of bamboo is to search the beauty of Korean tradition. By developing new methods of expressing traditional motifs, we can instill into the minds of the masses the pride on our traditional culture. Third, it is possible to express same image in fashion design by different materials. In this thesis, bamboo image is expressed in design by vertically weaved silks, satins and wools. Fourth, practical aspect of fashion must be considered in making clothing, because artistic clothing should also be socially accepted.
