쿠르트 요스의 DANCE-DRAMA형식에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to examine and evaluate the choreographic form and content of Kurt Jooss'S DANCE-DRAMA whlch influenced to a great extent on the development of the WOrld dance. Kurt Jooss's DANCE-DRAMA Was Conditioned by qeneral historical art trends in the early 20th century. Kurt Jooss responded to pressing demands of contemporary human life. His concern reflected the phenomenon of German Expressionism of his generation to his artistic desire. He was in those days involved in human life affected by war in the most direct way in terms of trends in German Expressionism. He also assimilated Rudolf von Laban's movement theory in those days and formed his unique choreographic style. Through his contribution and talent he influenced the German and Central Europian dancers. The following results are drawn from the examination and analysis of Kurt JOOSS'S choreographic form and its characteristics in his DANCE-DRAMA. 1. Kurt JOOSS'S DANCE-DRAMA reflected the artistic trend of German Expressionism. 2. Each movement in his DANCE-DRAMA carried dramatic value and he focused attention objectlvely on soclal realities through humor and satire instead of subjective moralization or judgement 3. Kurt Jooss created dance movements by combining elements of modem dance and the basic prindples of the classic ballet. 4. The dramatic expression was all in his choreography. For this he looked for the significant movements, that would convey the essence of a character, his emotion and actions, and his relationship to others and society. 5. And Kurt Joose's DANCE-DRAMA is "total art", which deliberately combined design, music, theme, costumes, story, staging, as well as movements into a complete wok of art Through his DANCE-DRAMA, Kurt Jooss created the unique choreographic form that bestowed dramatic value on dance movement vocabularies.;본 연구는 안무형식에 관한 연구의 일환으로 무용예술에 지대한 영향을 끼쳤던 쿠르트 요스의 DANCE-DRAMA라는 안무형식의 특성과 동작언어의 표현성을 고찰할 목적으로 이루어졌다. 20세기초. 독일은 1,2차세계대전을 겪게 되면서 전쟁으로 인한 파괴와 죽음 그리고 인간의 도덕성에 대하여 많은 경험을 하게 되었다. 결국 이 전쟁들을 통하여 독일은 극심한 사회적 불안과 혼란을 맞게 되었다. 이러한 사회적 배경은 독일의 표현주의를 출현시킴으로써 독일의 예술가들에게 지대한 영향을 주게 되었다. 이 표현주의는 그 당시 독일의 사회분위기를 그대로 반영하면서 쿠르트 요스 또한 이 표현주의의 영향을 받게 되었다. 그는 그 당시의 독일 표현주의 현상을 작품속에 반영하고자 하였다. 쿠르트 요스는 전쟁으로 인한 인간의 삶을 DANCE-DRAMA형식이라는 독특한 표현적인 안무형식을 통해서 나타내고자 하였다. 그는 또한 라반의 동적이론에 큰 영향을 받아 그의 독특한 안무스타일을 만들어 냈다. 특히 그의 표현주의적 무용은 독일과 유럽의 무용가들에게 중대한 영향을 끼쳤으며, 그의 무용이론과 지도법은 오늘날 독일무용에 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 이와같은 쿠르트 요스의 DANCE-DRAMA형식에 나타난 특징들은 다음과 같다. 1. 쿠르트 요스의 DANCE-DRAMA형식은 독일 표현주의 시대(1916-1926)의 독특한 예술적 경향을 반영하였다. 2. 쿠르트 요스의 DANCE-DRAMA형식은 풍자와 유머를 통해서 사회의 문제와 인간의 관심사들을 주관적으로 비판하거나 평가하는 것이 아니라 객관적으로 표현하고자 하였다. 3. 쿠르트 요스의 안무에 나타난 특징은 클라식 발레의 기본적인 원칙들과 현대 무용의 요소들을 혼합하여 동작들을 만들었다는 것이다. 4. 쿠르트 요스의 작품에 나타난 특징은 드라마틱한 표현력에 있으며, 각 개인의 성격의 본질, 감정의 행위, 그리고 각 개인과 사회와의 관계를 전달하는 표현적이고 의미깊은 동작에 있다. 5. 이 DANCE-DRAMA형식은 동작언어외에 공간디자인, 음악, 테마전개형식, 의상, 무대장치등을 결합시켜 종합예술작품으로 만드는데 그 특징이 있다. 이상과 같이 쿠르트 요스는 각 무용동작에 표현가치를 두면서 그의 DANCE-DRAMA형식을 발전시켰다. 그는 무용작품에 드라마틱한 표현을 도입함으로써 DANCE-DRAMA라는 독특한 안무형식을 창조하였다.
