한국 제조업 부문의 산업내 무역의 결정 요인과 변화 추이에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문의 목적은 최근의 새로운 무역이론인 산업내 무역이론을 한국의 무역구조에 적용하여, 이론의 타당성 여부를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위하여, 우선, Krugman의 모형을 가지고 이론에 대한 전반적 설명을 하였으며, 측정방법은, Grubel-Lloyd지수를 이용하였다. 규모의 경제성과 제품차별화가 산업내 무역의 발생원인이라는 산업내 무역이론과 그것의 결정요인에 관한 실증분석을 하기 위하여, 상대국의 경제규모의 크기, 요소부존도의 차이, 상대국의 무역성향, 요소부존 정도를 설명변수로 하여, 세계 20개국과 한국의 89년도 산업내 무역지수를 종속변수로 하여 실중분석한 결과, 모든 변수가 설명력이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 상대국이 경제규모와 무역성향이 큰 나라일수록, 자본집약적인 나라일수록, 우리나라와 요소부존도가 비숫한 나라일수록, 한국과의 산업내 무역은 중가한다는 결론을 얻었다. 또한, 80년대 한국의 수출·수입량을 측정하여 산업내 무역지수를 도출하였다. 그 지수를 분석한 결과 점차적으로 산업내 무역은 중가함을 알수 있었다. 그리고, 1983·89년의 산업내 무역지수를 그 분포와 요소집약도별로 관찰한 결과, 우리나라의 산업내 무역은 점차 증가하고 있으며, 그러한 증가추세는 노동 집약적 산업보다 자본집약적 산업에서 더 크게 나타나고 있다. 이러한 점은 산업내 무역의 측면에서 볼 때, 매우 바람직한 현상이라 생각되어진다. 산업내 무역이론은 이론 자체가 선진국형 경제를 대상으로 하여 발전되어 왔으므로 개도국인 한국의 무역구조에 그대로 적용하기에는 어느 정도 무리가 따른다. 그러나, 현 세계경제의 추세로 볼 때, 한국경제가 나아가야 할 방향을 명확히 제시해 주고 있으므로 유용하다고 본다.;The purpose of this paper is to analyze whether the intra-industry trade theory, new trade theory recently is suitable to the Korean trade structure. First of all, the theory was explained comprehensively with Krugman model and Grubel-Lloyd index is used for measuring. In order to study empirically the intra-industry trade that the economies of scale and the differential products give rise to the intra-industry trade and the decision factors, an examined thing are the quantities of import and export of 1980s. For studying the decision factor which is heavy effect on the Korean intra-industry trade, the size of economics of the other country and the difference the trade size of the other country and the degree of factors endowment are used as independent variables, and 20 countries and the index of intra-industry of 1989 are used as dependent variables, then the result explained all variables well. That is, If the size of economy of the other country and the trade size of the other country are larger than, the capital of the other country is more intensive than, and the factors endowment is similar to that of Korea, the intra-industry trade with Korea will increase. Then, the index of intra-industry trade induced. The result that the intra-industry has been increasing in gradual was gained from analyzing the index. Observing the result that the intra - industry trade has been increasing in gradual, we know that the increase is more appeared in capital intensive industry than labor intensive industry during 1983 - 1989. The results are very desirable in the point of intra - industry trade theory. Because intra - industry theory has been developed by industrialized countries economies, the application t o Korea's developing economy is excessive. But, in the view of this world economy trends, intra-industry trade theory gives us very valuable bases to Korea economy.
