무용전공자의 성격특성에 관한 실증적 연구

Abstract

이 연구는 사회화 과정에서의 경험(의 내용, 정도)과 성격형성과의 이론적 관계를 가정으로 무용이라는 독특한 경험이 성격에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 기술적 (記述的)수준에서 확인함으로써 교육적 노력으로서 무용이 갖는 심미적 가치를 경험적으로 밝히는 것이 목적이며, 아울러 무용교육에 있어서 그 성격특성에 대한 대책방법과 무용지도법이 필요함을 제시해 준다. 이러한 입장에서 본연구는 여대생을 중심으로한 무용 전공학생집단(발레 80명, 한국무용80명, 현대무용73명)과 일반학생집단(80명)과의 각 성격요인별 비교는 독립된 두개의 표본 평균간의 차이를 검증할때 쓰이는 t검증 방법을 사용하여 시행하였고, 전공별 및 경력별 각각 집단내에서의 비교는 집단구분이 3개 이상일때 집단간의 차이를 검증하는 분산분석법 (ANOVA)을 사용하여 개괄적인 검증을 한뒤 F검증상에 유의한 차이가 있는 성격특성들을 골라서 다시 독립된 두개집단을 조합으로 추출하여 t검증을 통해 분석에 정확을 기했다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 무용전공자는 일반인에 비해 정열성, 자립성, 신뢰성, 인습성, 안정성등의 다섯가지 성 격특성이 높은 빈도로 나타났다. 둘째, 발레전공자는 다른전공자에 비해 인습성이 강한 성격특성을, 한국무용전공자는 다른전공자에 비해 안정성이 강한 성격특성을, 현대무용전공자는 다른전공자에 비해 사변성이 강한 성격특성을 소유하고 있음을 시사한다. 셋째, 경력이 적은 A집단으로 갈수록 유연성, 방종성, 긴장성등의 강한 성격특성을 소유하고 있는 반면, 경력이 많은 D집단으로 갈수록 강인성, 인습성, 안정성등의 강한 성격특성을 소유하고 있음을 시사한다. 이러한 각 영역별에서 상대적으로 높고 낮은 성격특성이 나타난 결과는 무용경험에 따른 성격 형성 및 변화에의 영향에 대한 보다 인과적인 결론을 도출할 수 있는 경험적 연구가 후속되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.;The personality characteristics of dance majors as compared to non-majors were portrayed with a view to sheding light on the educational implications of dance experiences on the basic assumption that dance as an edncational endeavor would have a significant impact on forming individual's personality. A total of 233 female university dance majors with 80 non-majors were given the Korean version of Cattell's 16 personality Factors. Comparisons of personality patterns were made 1)between dance majors and non-majors, 2)among dance majors in terms of submajors, i.e., ballet, modern dance, and Korean dance, and 3)among dance majors in terms of their years of career. Analyses of data using t-test as well as ANOVAs revealed that: 1)dance majors were characterized by high passion, and independence while low in confidence, convention and stability as compared to the non-majors: 2)modern dance majors were higher in convention and discrimination than ballet majors, whereas Korean dance majors showed higher convention and stability than ballet majors; 3)the personality styles differed as a function of years of careers. The results, taken altogether, were in support of the implications that dance experiences do have, in one way or another, an influence on the formation of individual's personality.
