한국에 있어 현대무용의 한국화 작업에 대한 고찰

Abstract

This thesis is to concentrate itself on how Korean and worldwide things, as well as Modern and traditional things have been confronted and accepted through general investigation on Koreanization work of modern dance in Korea. Also it explore that how they have been created, performed and experimentalized on the base of Korean things to 1980s of Renaissance of dance from 1926 of introduction of modern dance to Korea. In addition to them, there have been raising many disputes and questions from critics and audiences on "such works have been Koreanized". That is, it has pointed since 1980s that as modern dance has made great effort only to accept and learn western techniques and has depended only on their skills, We have not tried hard to develop our esthetic senses and thoughts. The works formed on base of Korean things have been more western and modern in term of expression, but have made adequete harmony or accord between Korean and western things and shouwn various aspects like creation of fresh and peculiar Korean unconciousness. The tendency to make Koreanization since 1980s has been prominent especially in field of dance, but its logic and scientific is weak, It is more absolutely necessary to grasp all the matters of works than to investigate in details subject, theme and esthetic formal aspects based on Koreanization of modern dance in Korea. So, in chapter Ⅱ. the subject, theme and unconcious aspects are observed generally in field of historical stream of Koreanization work of Korea modern dance while, in chapter Ⅲ mentioning Korean notion in dance, Korean notion and definition of dance through books as Fell as Korean things which dance directors have created consciouslly are looked into. And finally, in chapter Ⅳ, through practical work analysis, all the matters concerning Koreanization works of Korea modern dance are analized deeply and Koreanization works are deliberated in details.;본 논문은 '한국 현대 무용의 한국화' 작업에 따른 제반적 검토를 통해 한국적인 것과 세계적인 것, 현대적인 것과 전통적인 것이 어떻게 대결 수용되어 왔나 하는 것을 문제로 삼는다. 1926년 한국에 현대무용이 소개되고 80년대 무용의 르네상스에 이르기까지 `한국적인 것`을 바탕으로 하는 다양한 창작 활동과 실험이 모색되었다. 더불어 이러한 작업들이 과연 '한국적인 것인가?'에 대한 논란과 물음이 평론가들과 관객들에게 수 없이 제기되어 왔다. 즉 현대 무용이 서구적 테크닉에만 의존하여 왔고, 우리의 미적 감각이나 사상의 주제적 관념을 살리는데는 미흡했다는 지척이 80년대 이후 중요한 기운으로 부상하였던 것이다. '한국적인 것'을 토대로 구성한 작품에서도 그 전개상의 표현은 오히려 서구적이고 현대적이었으며 또는 '한국적인 것' 과 '서구적인 것'의 적절한 조화 내지는 접목이외에 이와는 별도로 새롭고 독특한 한국적인 미의식의 창안 등 다양한 양상을 보여왔다. 이와 같이 80년대 한국적인 추구의 경향들이 무용 현장에서 뚜렸했지만 이에 대한 이론적 과학적 접근이 미비했다. 그래서 이러한 시기에 '한국 현대무용의 한국화' 작업에 있어서 작품의 근간을 이루는 소재적, 주제적, 미형식적 측면을 살펴봄으로서 작품상의 제문제를 파악하는 일은 보다 실제적인 '한국적인 추구'의 작업들을 위해서 꼭 필요한 과정이라 생각된다. 이를 위해서 먼저 제 Ⅱ장 '한국 현대무용의 한국화 작업'에 대한 역사적 맥락을 통해 '한국화'작업에 대해 개괄적으로 살펴보고, 제 Ⅲ장 춤에 있어 '한국적 개념'에서는 현재의 한국적 상황에서 추구해야 할 측면들을 생각해 보고, 아울러 안무가들이 문제 의식을 가지고 창작에 주력했던 '한국적 인 것'들을 파악하였다. 마지막 제 Ⅳ장 실제적 작품분석을 통하여 한국 현대 무용의 한국화 작업에 따른 제문제점을 종합, 분석하여 보다 구체적인 한국화 작업에 대해 생각해 보고자 한다.
