영재교육 연구논문에 나타난 교육기회평등관에 대한 일고찰

Abstract

Nowadays, one of the issues in Education is equal opportunity. It has been widely concerned that education for the gifted forsters human resources for the national and social development and have been studied for varies ways. Education for the gifted is blamed in terms of educational equal opportunity, but many studies about education for the gifted argued the equality of educational opportunity. This study analysed and discussed nine of theses about education for the gifted which published in Korea in 1980's. The contents and results of analysis are as follows. 1. Contents. ① How much considered about discrimination of the Gifted and accuracy of selection of the Gifted? ② All persons have to attended the process of selection and distribution of opportunity equally. How much considerd about this on the studies? ③ Which concerns with that the studies showed that the relationships of individual ability or educational outcomes and social mobility? 2. Results ① Studies concerned with discrimination, instrument of selection and method of the Gifted. But there were indicated that accuracy and neutrality of instrument and method of selection si secured. ② Studies didn't concerned with neutrality and impartiality of the process of selection and distribution of educational opportunity. ③ Studies didn't concerned with the relationships of educational outcomes and social mobility. In according to these results, there were limited by reason that existing studies didn't considered education for the Gifted in terms of social approach, but considered in terms of psycological and individualistic approach. So we endeavor to legitimated education for the Gifted in view of equal opportunity of education and understanding and analysis of out society at large.;교육기회평등의 문제는 오늘날 교육에 있어서 가장 큰 쟁점 중의 하나이다. 그리고 영재교육은 국가·사회발전에 공헌하는 인재를 양성한다는 점에서 큰 관심을 모으고 있으며, 여러 방면에서 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 영재교육은 교육기회평등의 관점에서 많은 비판을 받고 있으나, 영재교육은 교육기회평등의 관점에서 많은 비판을 받고 있으나, 영재교육에 관한 연구논문들은 영재교육의 기회평등성을 주장한다. 본논문은 1980년대에 한국에서 발표된 영재교육에 관한 논문들 중에서 9개에 나타난 교육기회평등관을 분석하고, 논의하였다. 분석내용과 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 영재교육연구논문의 분석내용 1) 영재의 판별 및 선발의 정확성에 대해서 얼마나 관심을 보이고 있는가? 2) 영재의 선발과정과 교육기회분배의 과정에 모든 사람이 공평하게 참여해야한다. 이 문제에 대해서 연구논문에는 어느 정도의 관심이 나타나 있는가? 3) 개인의 능력이나 교육결과와 사회적 이동과의 관계에 대해서 얼마나 관심을 보이고 있는가? 2. 분석결과 1) 연구논문들은 영재의 판별 및 선발도구와 방법에 큰 관심을 보이고 있다. 그러나 여기에서는 선발도구와 방법의 정확성과 중립성을 확보해야 한다는 문제가 지적되었다. 2) 연구자들은 선발과정과 교육기회분배에 있어서의 중립성과 공평성에는 관심을 보이지 않는다. 3) 연구자들은 교육결과와 사회적 이동의 관계에 대해서도 별로 관심을 보이지 않는다. 이러한 결과는 이와같은 연구물들이 영재교육에 접근함에 있어서 사회적인 측면과의 관계하에서 고찰하지 못하고, 영재에 대한 심리적 접근과 영재교육에 대한 개별적 접근만을 한 데에서 나오는 한계라고 하겠다. 따라서 영재교육을 교육기회평등의 관점에서 정당화하려는 노력은 앞으로 우리사회에 대한 전반적 이해와 분석 위에서 이루어져야 할 것이다.
