아동극 피터팬 "Peter Pan"을 위한 무대의상디자인 연구

Abstract

A play for children has an educational effect to help them for betterment of body and soul by way of offering vicarious experiences in drama. To the effect, the play should esthetic value as well as educational value. I have selected "Peter Pan" by J.M.Barrie to study more interesting design of study costumes for more dramatic effect on stage. "Peter Pan" has a five-act story mixed subtely with fancy and reality. I have designed the stage costume of the 10 characters selected among major and comic ones to draw the attention of children. The costume have been designed-with a view to miximizing children's visual satisfaction through toe following major methods. 1. To use color combination for pastel-tone to increase fantastic image and emphasize major characters with a complementary color. 2. To use funny ornaments and personify the abstract objects for amusement. 3. To use the 'felt' to emphasize formative beauty in three dimensions and to use the 'slash' to induce a audience to get dramatic visual effects.;아동극은 아동관객에게 극적(劇的)경험을 제공하여 심신의 발달에 도움을 주는 교육적 가치를 가진다. 또한 아동극은 이러한 교육적 가치와 더불어 미학적 가치도 지녀야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 J.M 배리(J.M.Barrie)의 작품「피터팬」을 선택하여 보다 극적인 무대효과를 얻을 수 있는 흥미로운 디자인의 무대의상을 연구하였다. 「피터팬」은 공상과 현실을 교묘히 배합하는 환상적인 내용을 소재로 한 전 5막으로 구성된 희곡으로, 본 연구에서는 등장인물중 주요인물과 아동의 관심을 끌 수 있는 코믹(comic)한 인물을 중심으로 10명을 선택하여 무대의상을 구상하였다. 디자인은 아동들의 시각적 만족도를 극대화하기 위한 의도로 구상되었으며 다음과 같은 디자인 방향을 가진다. 첫째, 환상성을 높이기 위해 파스텔톤의 색채배합을 주로 하였으며 주요인물은 보색대비로 부각시켜 강조하였다. 둘째, 오락성을 높이기 위해 재미있는 장신구를 도입하고 추상적인 대상을 의인화 시켰다. 세째 입체적인 조형미를 살리기 위해 소재로 펠트(felt)를 사용하고 슬래쉬(slash)를 이용하여 극적인 시각화 현상을 유도하였다.
