Abstract
IPPA (The inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment) Scale을 번안하여 사용하였으며 '독립성'의 측정을 위해서는 Sullivan과Sullivan (1980)의 부모-자녀분리 측정도구(Adolescent-Parent Separation)와 Hoffman(1984)의 PSI(The Psychological Separation Inventory)의 문항들중 일부를 번안, 수정하여 사용하였다. The purpose of this study was to examine the relation between adolescents' attachment to mothers and adolescents' independence. The subjects were 219 university students(second year) selected from 6 universities located in Seoul. The Inventary of Parent and Peer Attachment scale(IPPA), The Psychological Separation Inventory(PSI) and Adolescent-Parent Separation Scale were used for collecting data. For the statistical analysis of data, t-test, F-test, x^(2), Duncan's multiple range test, Cluster analysis, stepwise regression and Cronbach's for reliability were used. The results were as follows: 1. There were no significant differences according to adolescents' sex, initial separation of leaving home, parents' education, and parents' age in the adolescents' attachment to mothers. 2. In terms of adolescents' independence degree, adolescents' sex, initial separation of leaving home, and parents' education seemed to be significant variables. 3. Adolescents' attachment to mothers was not significantly correlated with independence degree. 4. The variables which affected the independence degree of adolescents have influencing power in the following order: Communication, Trust, Alienation, mother's education, sex.
