鳳山 탈춤에 나타난 劇的 表現에 관한 硏究

Abstract

There is a similarity between dance and drama. They accomplish their expressions through the motions produced by a body and they are an art that arises from the motives and instincts of imitation and play. The essence of all arts is in an expression and their expressiveness aims at the expression of thought and emotion of each human creature. Therefore, the expressive art must necessarily involve a transmissive function and the inner communication demands the excellent expression of the transmissive medium. Moreover, the dance shares with the drama the spatial finitude of a stage. Thus their interconnections are menifest. The motions of a human body expresses human thoughts and emotions so sincerely that this study on the dramatic expression presented in the motions of our traditional dance mar contribute to the handing-down and preservance and development of the national dance-culture. Lending an emphasis upon the Pong-san mask dance, I expected to show some features of the dramatic expressions in the dance which is handed down and developed nationally. This dissertation is focused on the Mi-yal dance, the seventh part of the dance-motions of the Pong-san mask dance and I attempted to analysis it deeply in the method. The reasons why I chose especially to study the Mi-yal dance, that is to say, a specific part of the Pong-san mask dance which is a national drama in its kind is following. At first, the dramatic composition of the Mi-yal dance part is prominently distinct from the other parts and it is a total art in that it includes the elements of a dance drama and mimes and dances. In the second place, the Mi-yal dance part is characteristic of a spanless intimate relationship between the performers and the audiences. The third reason is that it is a model for measuring a certain interdependency between a dramatic expression and a dance motion. The last point is that, by showing the interconnectiveness of dances and dramas contained in the Pong-san mask dance this dissertation attempted positively to investigate the influence of the dance motions upon a dramatic expression on the one hand, and the expressive effect of the dramaic factor on a dance and the necessity of the effect on the other hand. Futhermore, by analyzing the plot and the dramatic structure and the characteristics of the Mi-yal part, I concentrated on observing an importance of the dance-factor and its interconnection with a drama and its function by the basic 'dance motion'. I believe that the above study contributes toward having a grasp of the intra-factor of a dance and a drama as a dramatic art and that it contributes to deriving a modern method of bequeathing our national drama to the next generation.;춤과 劇은 신체를 소재로한 움직임을 통해서 표현이 이루어지며 그 발생 동기가 모방과 유희 본능에서 비롯되는 예술이라는 유사점을 지니고 있다. 모든 예술의 핵심은 표현에 있으며, 그 표현성은 인간개체의 사상감정의 표현에서 이루어진다. 따라서 표현예술에는 필연적으로 전달이 동반되는데 그 내적인 전달에 필요한 것은 전달매체의 훌륭한 표현에 있는 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 춤과 극의 표현에 있어서 무대라는 제한된 공간을 공유하고 있는 점에서도 상호 관련요소를 지니고 있다. 신체의 움직임은 인간의 사상과 감정을 가장 진실되게 표현하는 것이므로 우리 고유의 춤사위 속에서 연출되어 지는 극적 표현성에 관한 연구는 민속춤 문화의 발전과 전승 보존에 도움이 되리라 본다. 더구나 봉산탈춤을 중점적으로 살펴봄으로써 민족적으로 전승발전된 춤의 극적표현의 특질 일부를 고찰할 수가 있다. 본 논문은 봉산탈춤의 춤사위 중에서 제7과장 미얄춤을 중심으로 심층분석적 접근을 시도한 것이다. 특히 본 논문에서 민속극중 봉산탈춤의 미얄과장을 선택한 이유는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미얄과장의 극적구성이 다른 과장에 비해서 뛰어나며 마임과 무극적인 요소, 노래와 재담과 춤을 포함한 종합적인 예술이다. 둘째, 미얄과장은 그 구성과 공연상의 특징, 그리고 공연자와 관객과의 밀접한 유대관계가 자유로운 형식을 특징으로 삼고 있으며 전형적인 한국가면의 한가지 형태이다. 세째, 춤과 극적표현의 상호의존도 측정에 있어서 미얄과장은 좋은 본보기가 될 수 있다. 네째, 본 연구는 이와같은 근거에 입각해서 미얄과장속에 들어 있는 춤과 극의 관련성을 연구하고, 춤의 동적인 움직임과 대사, 재담, 노래, 소도구 등이 극적표현에 미치는 효과와 이에따른 극적요소의 필연성을 실증적으로 탐구 하고자 했다. 또한 본 연구자는 미얄과장의 전개형식과 극적구조, 그리고 그 특징을 분석 연구 함으로써, 춤적요인의 중요성과, 연극과의 상호관계, 그리고 그 기능을 "춤사위"를 기본으로 살펴보는데 주력하였다. 이같은 연구의 성과는 극예술로써의 춤과극과의 관련요인과 탈춤에 있어서의 극적표현의 필연성을 파악케 할 수 있으며, 더 나아가 민속극의 현대적 계승방법을 유도할 수 있다고 믿는다.
