基督敎 思想에 근거한 使徒 Paul의 身體思想 硏究

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reveal Paul's thought of "body" which was written in his Letters in the Holy Bibly. As a whole, most of the book about physical education of the medieval ages was depressed by Christianity. So, I will discuss Paul's thought of "body" -which was oppsed to the dualism-in which he laid great emphasis on the importance of "body" and I will take another look at the thought of "body" in Christianity. For the purpose of this I studied about the Holy Bible, in which the Paul's letters were written, and relative books with this research. I analogized the linguistic conceptions of body - understanding, which were revealed in each materials, that I might study the Paul's thought of "body". In ancient Rome, the conception of "body" was to seperate the mind and body so they thought materials and physical things were fundamentally evil, but only spiritual things were good. So they made light of body. This conception was influenced by Hellenism, Roman philosophy, and extreme Stoicism. But, against this idea, Paul thought that ''body" was fundamental element to human being and he understood hunan being as a whole personality. This article reveals that: 1) Paul's view of ''body" and man a s a whole personality. 2) It is very significant in physical philisophy for him to assert one should have sound mind and body under the circumstances of the first century. 3) Also, Paul's view of ''body" - man as a whole personality- contains very much significance to present the direction of man's moral, ethical, and religious effort.;이 硏究의 目的은 聖書속에 포함되어 있는 Paul의 書信들을 통해서 그의 身體 思想을 알아보려는 데에 있다. 대부분의 體育文獻에서는 中世 體育이 基督敎 思想에 의해 침체되었다고 一括하는 데 그치고 있다. 이에 同 時代의 二元論的 思想에 맞서서 身體의 중요성을 力說하고 있는 Paul의 身體 思想을 考察함으로써 Paul의 身體觀은 물론 基督敎의 身體觀을 再認識시키려고 한다. 이를 위하여 本 연구에서는 Paul의 書信에 실려 있는 聖書와 이 연구와 관계가 있는 文獻을 연구 資料로 삼아 진행하였다. 그 各各의 身體理解에 나타난 言語學的 槪念을 밝혀 Paul의 身體 思想을 考察하였다. 그 결론은 다음과 같다. 로마 時代의 身體에 대한 見解, 즉 精神과 肉體를 완전히 分理하여 모든 物質과 肉體的인 것은 근본적으로 惡한 것이며, 靈的인 것만이 우수하다고 생각하여 身體를 경시하는 二元論的 思想은 헬레니즘 및 로마 時代의 哲學과 극단적인 禁慾主義의 異敎들에 의해 영향을 받은 것이었다. 이에 Paul은 이러한 思想에 반대해서 身體를 人間 存在의 本質的인 중요한 要素로 理解하고 있으며, 二元論的 思考와는 달리 靈魂과 身體를 有機的 통일체로서 全人으로 理解했다. Paul이 A.D. 1世紀의 時代的 상황 下에서 건전한 身體와 건전한 靈魂을 가져야 한다고 說破할 수 있었던 것은 體育 思想史的 측면에서 볼때 큰 意昧가 있으며, 또한 Paul의 身體觀은 全人으로서의 人間의 도덕적, 윤리적, 종교적 노력의 方向을 提示해 준다는 사실에서 모든 意義를 간직하고 있는 것이다.
