현대복식조형의 한국적 이미지표현에 관한 연구

Abstract

복식은 다른 생활조형의 분야와는 달리 움직이는 인간에게 입혀져서 표현되는 조형예술이며, 이러한 의복은 한 시대의 문화적 양식에 뿌리를 둔 인간의 의식을 반영하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 정신적 측면에서 전통의 문제를 고찰함으로써 현대에 있어서 전통에 대한 새로운 복식조형의 미적 가치를 연구해 보고자 하였으며, 이러한 시도를 통해 전통과 현대와의 단절을 극복하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로 정신문화전통과 현대화에 따른 한국복식의 변천에 관하여 문헌을 통해 고찰하고, 전통적 요인이 현대한국복식에 반영된 시대적 배경과 그 특징을 연대별·요인별로 나누어 연구하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 전통복식 유형 중 여성의 치마·저고리의 착장방법에 따른 형태를 우리 고유의 미의식인 「멋」을 바탕으로 하여 「하후상박(下厚上薄)」의 복식미를 현대적 감각으로 표현한 것이며, 특히, 불규칙한 곡선의 주름에 의한 리듬감과 조형성을 강조하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통한 작품제작 의도는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통을 과거의 특정한 유형으로 국한시키지 않고 정신적 측면에서 전통의 문제를 추구하였다. 둘째, 현대의 시점에서 전통에 대한 새로운 자각과 그 역할에 대한 인식을 유도하였다. 세째, 현대한국복식에 있어서 정신문화전통과 현대와의 단절을 극복하여, 국제성속에서 한국적 고유성의 확립을 위한 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 이상과 같이 본 연구는 현대복식을 단순한 서양화나 전통양식의 수동적인 수용 및 재현으로만 받아들이지 않고 현대의 시점에서 독창적으로 전통을 되살린다는 보다 적극적인 전통에의 참여를 제시하여 보았으나 민족의 고유한 정신적 유산을 지키며 현대화도 함께 해 나가는 문제는 우리 모두가 지속적으로 연구해야 할 과제일 것이다.;The clothing, distinctively from other plastic arts of living, is the movable plastic art worn on human body, therefore the human consciousness that is based on the cultural style of a time, can be expressed by the dress. This thesis, investigating the traditional style as a spritual one, is to study the aesthetic value of a new plastic clothing that includes the traditional conception in present, and through this attempt, the discontinuity between the tradition and the modernity is to be overcome. As a theorical background for this study, the changes of Korean clothing caused by the modernization of culture, are to be sought in the bibliography or documents. And also the backgrounds and characteristics of each epoch that the traditional factors have influenced on the clothing, are descrived chronologically and causally. On the production of works, the style of the traditional method of wearing the Korean woman's skirts and jackets, and it's beauty too-"poor upper part and rich lower part" which is based on the Korean characteristic "foppishness"- , are expressed with modern sense. Especially these works are focused on the plastic sense and it's rhythem by the irregural pleats of curved lines. The main purposes of these works are as follows; 1. to investigate the traditional style as a spiritual heritage, not to limite the tradition as a finite style. 2. to lead out the self-consciousness about tradition and the clearer cognition of it's role. 3. to show the way of establishment of Korean characteristic style within universalism, overcoming the discontinuity between traditional culture and modernity. As mentioned, this study is not to accept passively the modern clothing just as reception or revival of occidental or traditional style, but to participate actively in the traditional conception as it's renaissance with modem viewpoints. The problem, not only keeping our spiritual and cultural heritage from the past, but also keeping on modernizing in the present, is remained for our future.
