자연의 조형화를 추구한 tapestry

Abstract

자연은 모든 예술 분야에 있어서 조형적 창작활동의 대상이 되었으며 인간은 자연에서 느낀 미적체험과 주관에 의해 순수한 조형의지를 표현하고 있다. 20세기 초 바우하우스 운동의 영향아래 급성장하고 있는 섬유예술에 있어서도 자연에 대한 연구와 표현은 섬유라는 매체를 통해 독특한 창작세계를 보여 주고 있다. 본 논문에서는 인간의 조형의지가 자연을 향한 끊임없는 동경과 연구를 통해 이루어졌음을 인식하고 연구자의 미적체험과 내면적 표현형식이 조화된 자연의 조형화를 추구하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로 자연의 표현과 변형에 관한 문헌을 통해 고찰해 보고 이러한 자연의 조형화를 추구하는 방법으로 재료와 기법에 의한 Texture표현을 통해 재창조된 자연에 관해 연구하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 재료의 질적인 속성과 그 적성이 조형상의 절대적인 요인이 된다는 신념에서 자연의 이미지에 부합되는 사이잘 삼, 마사, 등피등 천연재료를 사용하였으며 종이와 부직포등을 더하여 재료에 의한 texture표현을 하였다. 또한, 평직과 변화평직을 기본으로 하여 wrapping과 늘어뜨리기 기법으로 자연의 조형적인 texture표현을 모색하였다. 그리하여 자연의 생성과 소멸의 과정을 인지하면서 작가와 자연의 공감대를 형성할 수 있는 작업을 시도하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통한 작품제작 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연을 표현대상으로 할 때 자연의 이미지에 가장 가깝게 부합되는 재료로서 천연재료의 사용이 적절한 효과를 줄 수 있었다. 둘째, Tapestry에 있어서 texture는 작품의 성격을 결정짓는 대단히 중요한 요소로 반영되어 재료와 기법에 의한 texture표현으로 시각적 깊이를 더하여 보다 높은 차원의 조형성을 추구할 수 있었다. 세째, 부조적 형태에 의한 조형공간의 형성은 평면에서 오는 단조로움을 피하여 새로운 공간확장을 유도하였다. 그러나 재료에 대한 철저한 이해와 분석을 통해 새로운 표현방법의 모색이 필요하다고 느꼈으며 보다 창조적이고 조형적인 작품을 제작하기 위해서는 많은 시간과 노력이 뒤따라야 하겠다. 또한, 재료와 기법에 의한 txture표현의 가능성을 확립하기 위해서는 반복적인 실험정신에 의한 미적 가치관을 정립해 나가야 할 것이다.;Nature is a n eternal object of formative creation in all the fields of arts, and men express their pure formational will by aesthetical experiences with nature and their subjectification. And also in the world of fiber arts rapidly developing under the influence of Bauhaus movement since the early twentieth century, researches and expressions dealing with nature show to us their unique world of creation through their mediated fiber. Accordingly, this investigator recognized that the human formative will has become to be established through constant admiration and study of nature, and conceived it to be worthy of this study : how the formation of nature can be persued harmoniously and successfully in the processes of expression upon the individual aesthetical experiences and internalized spiritual values. For the theoretical backgrounds for this, I have investigated various expressions and deformations of nature and furthur studied the nature recreated by way of textural expressions through some adaptations of materials and techniques. In making art works, paying interest to natural materials which are compatible with the image of nature, I have made use of sisal hemp, hemp and rattan-skins and added paper to persue some appropriate ways for textural expression both in materials and techniques. And the result from the art works making with the processing study, a new approach to expressional methods from thoroughgoing understanding and analyzing of materials was proved to be essential and the texture was somewhat successful in persuing higher level of formative features very important elements which determine the very characteristic of the works. It should be very clearly established, however, that the sense of aesthetic value by a spirit of repetitional experiments has to be secured for creative and formation work of improvement.
