J.S. Bach, R. Strauss, D. Milhaud, M. Head의 성악작품에 대한 연구

Abstract

The writer gave a graduation performance on April 29, 1988 for the M.M. degree course. This thesis aims at investigating the backgrounds and characteristics of the performed compositions by four composers. Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), who mixed many kinds of national music in all areas of music is a representative of the Baroque period and especially composed many church cantatas. " Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen: BWV 51" for Soprano, among his fifteen solo cantatas, is divided into four movements: Aria - Recitativo - Aria - Choral (Alleluja) and uses a trumpet obbligato. This work accomplishes tonal comparison in which mainly triads, major and minor alternate. It progresses around mostly fifth relation keys and expresses great pleasure in praising God of using word painting. Richard Strauss (1864-1949) belongs to the late Romantic period and is prominent in symphonic poems, operas and songs. Op.27, composed in 1894, consists of four songs. Every song uses through-composed form, represents lyricism and progressive factors, deeply freer and more various harmonic movement than his earlier works, using complicated and frequent modulation, and chromatic movement and diverse harmony. Darius Milhaud (1892-1974) was a member of "Les Six" of France. He left a great variety of works in many areas of music. The characteristics of his music are polytonality and lyricism without losing tradition. "L'amour chant", a song collection in which 9 poems are set to music is composed with polytonality. Every song utilizes a melody line which is presented within the first few measures. 8 songs of the 9 are consistent in ending with pianissimo. Michael Head (1900-1976) was an English composer. The rhythm, melody line, and style of accompaniment of his music keeps abreast with the form of traditional music. His songs, which fall somewhere between the popular ballad and the art song, properly express the beauty of nature. "Over the Rim of the Moon (1918) " composed mainly in a conservative manner uses fourth, sixth and seventh intervals, and disjunct motion which are used in modern music.;본인은 1988년 4월 29일에 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업연주회를 가졌다. 본 논문에서는 졸업연주회에서 연주하였던 작품의 특징과 작곡가의 음악적인 배경을 살펴보았다. Johann Sebastian Bach (1685~1750)는 음악의 모든 영역에 있어 여러 국민 양식을 잘 융합시킨 바로크 음악의 대표자로 특히 많은 곡의 교회 칸타타를 작곡하였다. 그의 15개의 solo cantata중 소프라노를 위한 “Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen” BWV 51 은 4악장 「Aria-Recitative -Aris-Chora」(Alleluja)으로 나뉘어 있고, trum-pet의 Obbligato를 갖는다. 주로 3화음의 사용과 장조와 단조가 교차되는 조성대비를 이루며 대부분 5도 관계조 중심으로 진행되고 있다. 또한 word painting의 기법을 사용해 찬양하는 기쁨과 감정을 잘 표현하고 있다. Richard Strauss (1864~1949)는 후기 낭만파 시대의 한 사람으로 교향시, 오페라, 가곡에 탁월함을 보인다. Op. 27은 1894년에 작곡된 4개의 곡으로 각 곡은 모두 통작형식으로 되어 있으며 종전보다 자유롭고 다양한 화성진행과 복잡하고도 잦은 전조, 반음계적인 진행과 다양한 변화화음을 사용하여 서정적이면서도 진보적인 경향이 짙게 나타나고 있다. Darius Milhaud(1892~1974)는 프랑스 6인조의 한 사람으로 음악의 여러 영역에 풍부하고도 다채로운 작품을 남겼으며 전통성을 잃지 않으면서도 다조성과 서정성은 그의 음악의 특징으로 나타난다. 작품 “L'amour chant”는 9개의 시에 곡을 붙인 노래 모음으로 다조음악 으로 작곡된 곡이다. 각 곡은 모두 통작형식으로 되어있고 syllabic 양식과 종결부에서 새로운 선율이 아닌, 이미 제시된 한 선율을 사용하고, 한 곡을 제외한 여덟곡 모두가 피아니시모의 악상으로 끝맺게 되는 것으로 일관되고 있다. Michael Head(1900~1976)는 영국의 작곡가로 리듬, 선율, 반주형태가 모두 전통적인 곡의 형식을 고수하며 통속적인 발라드와 예술가곡 사이에 위치하고 있는 그의 가곡은 주로 자연의 아름다움을 다루고 있다. “Over the Rim of the Moon”은 네곡으로 구성되어진 연가곡으로 주로 전통적인 작곡기법으로 작곡된 곡이지만 간간히 현대음악에 많이 사용하는 4도, 6도, 7도의 음정도약을 사용하고 있다. 이상에서 본인은 각 시대의 작곡가와 작품에 대한 연구로 본인이 연주한 4개 작품에 대한 이해에 큰 도움을 얻고자 하였다.
