The purpose of the study is to examine the ability of children's reading and writing in their Kindergartens and home. The study questions are described in detail as follows; 1. What is the distribution for the ability of reading and writing of children? 2. Do the ability of reading and writing have significant differences pursuant to the teaching methods of reading and writing in their kindergartens and homes? 3. What is the correlation between the ability of reading and writing of children? This subject of the study were 256 kindergarten children, their teachers, and parents. The instruments in measure the abilities of reading of children were lettering cards designed by the researcher. As for the data collection for writing abilities, a series of methods were attempted in such a way of letting them to write appropriate sentences or words, and the letters they were acquired with. The examined data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard, ANOVA, and correlation accordingly. The results obtained in this study are given as follows : 1. The reading abilities of the children were revealed at the average ratio of 72 letters. The rating category revealed in the highest frequency was placed as the one of being able to perfectly read 100 letters, and thus 40.62% was occupied. According, 1.17% was revealed in the children who have not been able to get acquired with how to reading as yet. The average abilities of writing by the children were indicating as perfect words writing forms, and thus a stage was revealed as to write a character making strokes in a wrong order. As looking at the highest frequency, 43.35% was occupied as a stage of being incorrect in part no sooner than a certain sentence appeared. 2.1. A Significant difference was revealed in the reading ability of children depending on a teaching method of kindergartens (F=9.05, P<.0l). An undirective method group and a directive and undirective method group have been manifested as higher than the directive method group at kindergartens. A writing ability has also revaled a significant difference according to a teaching method at kindergartens (F=7.12, P<.0l). And undirective method group and a directive and undirective method group have been manifested as higher than t h e directive method group as kindergartens. 2.2. A significant difference was revealed in the reading ability of children depending on a teaching method at home (F=12.13, P<.0.l). An undirective method group and a directive and undirective method. group have been manifested as higher than the group that would not practice the reading-teaching and the directive method group at home as well. As writing ability has also revealed a significant difference according to a teaching method at home (F=12.65, P<.0l). An undirective method group and a directive and undirective method group have been mainfested as higher than the group that would not practice the writing-teaching and the directive method group as kindergartens. 3. The reading and writing ability were levealed as high correlation (r=.77, P<.00l). That is, the children who could read well was levealed as equivalent to good writing as well.-
