五方處容舞 構造에 關한 陰陽 五行學的 硏究

Abstract

This study is to analyze Obang-cheoyongmu, one of the traditional Korean royal court dances that has been transmitted as one of national musics and dances designated by the government through almost ten-hundred years, based on the principles of the positive and negative of China. Obang-cheoongmu was investigated and reappeared through "Akhakgyebum" by the members of Department of Court Music in the late period of Yi dynasty. The aim of this study has been set upon the definement of peculiar ideas and symbols in the dance on the basis of research and analysis of the formal characteristics and directions mainly with the principles of the positive and negative. Since every court music and dance characteristically contains national ideology and sprit of the times prior to individual originality, it is clear that also Cheoyongmu has been changed and developed into a religious characteristic and national morality according to changes and demands of the times. Cheoyongmu in Silla times was a kind of ritual dance to drive out the evil and welcome the good luck due to the legend of Cheoyong. And in Goryeo times it was changed into Double Cheoyongmu and performed in such annual events as Palkwanhoy and Yeondeunghoy. According to the records in "Akhakgyebum" finished in the Sungjong period in the early years of Yi dynasty, Cheoyongmu had been choreographed based on the principles of the positive and negative and changed into Obang-cheoyongmu under the influence of Confucianism. Therefore, the meaning of five colours of dancing dress, i.e., blue, red, yellow, black and white, and every dancing form accords well with the principles of the positive and negative. To say conclusively, it is my opinion that review on Cheoyongmu through analyses and researches contributes significantly to heighten the value of it.;본 논문은 천여년 동안 전통궁중무용으로써 전승되어 온 향악정재인 오방 처용무에 대하여 동양 전통사상인 음양오행학적으로 분석한 논문이다. 오방처용무는 조선말기 이왕직 아악부에서 악학제범을 통하여 고증, 재현된 것으로 그 형태적 특성과 방위를 나타내는 것이 음양의 개념과 오행학의 논리에 일치됨으로써 오방처용무의 구조에 음양오행학을 접근, 시도하여 그 자체가 지닌 고유사상과 상징을 규명하는데 의의를 두었다. 궁중정재는 작품의 성격상 일 개인의 독자적인 개성보다는 국가적 이념과 시대성을 내포한다고 볼 때, 처용무는 왕조의 교체에도 불구하고 신라에서 고려조로 계승되고 다시 조선조에 이어져 구나무(驅儺舞)로서 궁중의 잡귀를 쫓는 나례의 중심의식무가 되었을 뿐만 아니라 고려조에서는 연락무(宴樂舞)로써 고관들이나 왕까지도 직접 처용무를 추었으며 외국사신의 접대연에도 추어졌다. 따라서 고려시대의 처용무는 산대잡극의 중심적인 레파터리의 하나였고 당시 이곡의 詩에 의하면 2인무의 형식을 보이고 있으며 조선조 성현의 「용재총화」에서는 1인무로 기록하고 있다. 조선조 성종代에 완성된 악학제범에 나타난 처용무는 오방처용무로써 확대되었는데 누구에 의해 개작되어있는지는 알수 없다. 오방처용무는 무복의 색상이 청, 홍, 황, 흑, 백으로 동, 서, 남북, 중앙을 지시하는 방위를 의미하고 춤의 진행순차가 음향의 배열과 오행의 상생, 상극의 사상체계와 일치되는 점을 발견하게 됨에 따라 조선초기에 만들어진 오방처용무는 조선조의 건국이념인 유교적인 영향이 처용무에 까지 끼쳤음을 알 수 있다. 이러한 오방 처용무와 음양 오행학의 부합은 오방 처용무의 전승가치를 높일 뿐만 아니라 궁중정재 및 우리나라의 민속무용 전반에 대한 사상적인 기반을 재조명하는 데 상당한 의의가 깊은 것으로 사려되는 바이다.
