- Abstract
Serum ferritin, copper and fibrinogen as a serologic marker of carcinoma was measured in 10 with liver cirrhosis, 19 patients with carcinoma and 15 normal person.
The results were as follows,
1. There was significant difference in serum ferritin concentration between normal, patients with liver cirrhosis (P<0.05) and patients with cancer (P<0.05).
2. Serum copper concentration was significantly higher in patients with liver cirrhosis (P<0.05) and cancer (p<0.05).
3. There was no significant difference in serum fibrinogen concentration between normal, patients with liver cirrhosis and with cancer.
In conclusion, serum ferritin and copper have a role to detect cancer and differentiate hepatoma from liver cirrhosis, but fibrinogen is not a good serologic marker of cancer.
