모란꽃을 소재로 한 염색공예에 관한 연구

Abstract

우리의 경제적 생활수준이 발달 향상됨에 따라 생활문화의 수요자들은 보다 나은 디자인 제품을 요구하게 되었다. 디자인의 본래의 의미는 인간을 위한 작업으로 먼저 이해되는 것으로서, 인간의 기본적인 삶을 물심양면에서 보다 풍요롭게 해주는 것이다. 이에 인간의 생활주변을 보다 아름답고 편리하게 해주는 재료로서의 섬유는 다른 어떤것 보다도 중요하게 부각된다. 섬유로 이루어지는 생활용품은 다양하나, 그것은 기계제품과 수공예품으로 크게 나누어 볼 수 있는데 생활용품이 주거생활에 부드러움을 더하기 위해서는 기계제품보다 수공예품이 호소력이 강하다고 생각된다. 따라서 섬유로 이루어지는 염색 수공예품은 우리의 경제수준의 향상에 따른 수요자들의 요구에 부응하는 것으로 보여진다. 이런 시각에서 본 연구자는 주거공간을 구성하는 수공예품으로서 오래전부터 여성들의 생활용품에 시문되어온 모란꽃을 표현소재로 모란이 지닌 화사함과 부귀와 화목, 남녀화합을 뜻하는 길상적 의미를 생활공간에 연결시키고 공예의 본질인 용과 미를 충족시킬수 있는 염색품으로서의 가능성을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 생활속에 문양이 미치는 영향과 모란이 상징하는 의미를 문헌을 통해 고찰하고 염색과 생활과의 관계를 살펴보았는데, 이를 바탕으로 작품을 제작하고 분석하는 과정에서 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모란은 그가 지닌 풍부한 화엽과 화려한 꽃모양뿐만 아니라, 길상적 의미를 지닌 꽃으로 주로 여성들의 사랑을 받아왔고 그들의 생활용품에 주로 시문되어 왔기에 안방용품의 표현소재로 적합했다. 둘째, 꽃을 분해하고 다시 통합하는 과정을 통하여 사실적인 꽃의 묘사가아닌 연구자의 시각에서 한번 굴절된 새로운 꽃의 이미지를 표현하므로써, 사실적인 묘사나 패턴으로서의 꽃이 아닌 자연스런 하나의 화면이 생활공간과 조화될 수 있는 소재였다고 생각한다. 셋째, 섬유로 이루어지는 염색 수공예품은 섬유가 갖은 부드러운 특성이 실내공간과 잘 조화되어 염색공예로서 적절한 연구였다고 생각한다. 또한 앞으로 꾸준한 노력과 연구로 염색의 공예품에의 활용은 바람직한 일이라 생각되고, 이러한 염색 수공예품의 보급은 대중의 생활속에 파고들어 그들의 생활을 보다 풍요롭고 아름답게 해주는 역할을 해낼 것으로 믿어진다.;The consumers who can live more civilized society at the result of economic development have come to require toe better designed-products than that of before. Originally, the purpose of design is to make human life more comfortable. Therefore, we could frequently use fiber as a material which make human environment more beautiful and comfortable than other materials. There are various kinds of products which are made of fiber, but these are classified into two categories, machinery-products and handicrafts. of the two, handi-crafts more appeal to man than machinery products. In this respect, it can be seen that handi-crafts were made to meet the need of the consumers who live in the enhanced living standards owing to the economic development. From this point of view, I found a peony is a good expression subject matter for handi-crafts, especially for the main living room, also, I tried to explore the possibility of dyed handicrafts to meet the essential function of it, that is, utility and beauty. In this thesis, I attempt to study the effect of pattern in life and the, symbol of a peony through literatures, and the relationship between dying and life. Also in the process of making and analysis, the result of this study is as follows : Firstly, I found that the use of a peony as a expression subject matter for handi-crafts, especially for the main room handi-crafts, is suitable. It is partly depended on the woman who have used it for a long time, because a peony has beautiful flower shape and rich leaves and symbolizes a good-luck. Secondly, from my personal view, I found that a peoney could harmoney with the living space not as a pattern and real flower but as a new image of peoney. Thirdly, I found that dyed handi-crafts used a fiber is suitable for dred handicrafts because of it's soft quality. Also I found that the use of dyeing in making handi-crafts through the continuous effort and study is desirable. Consequently, the more we use dyed handi-crafts, the more we can live in a more beautiful and comfortable human life.
