재료와 기법에 의한 섬유작품의 조형적 표현

Abstract

현대 미술의 다양한 방법적 시도 가운데에서, 특히 관심의 대상이 되어 온 것 가운데의 하나가 재료 및 매체개념의 확대와 그 가능성에 대한 실험이었다. 섬유예술은 이러한 현대 미술과의 상호 유기적 연관성으로 조형적 공감대를 넓히게 됨에 따라, 각종의 이질적 재료를 끌어 들이고 종래의 고착된 방법에서 탈피하여 형식에 구애받음이 없이 자유 자재한 상상력을 인간적인 방법으로 펴 나아가는 방향으로 전환 발전되고 있다. 그러므로 섬유예술가의 개성과 미의식을 표현하는 매개체로서 재료와 기법이 섬유작품의 조형적 효과에 미치는 의미와 중요성을 규명하는 것은 중요한 과제이다. 본 논문은 재료와 기법에 의한 섬유예술작품의 조형적 표현에 있어서 능동적이고 적극적인 방법의 시도를 연구의 목적으로 삼았다. 내면적 정신세계의 창조적 주관을 재료와 기법으로 표현하는 예술작업의 과정을 연구의 과제로 삼고, 순수조형예술로서 형성되어 가는 현대 섬유예술의 역사적 과정과, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Ritzi and Peter Jacobi, Olgo De Amaral, Claire Zeisler의 작품을 분석함으로써 재료와 기법에 의한 섬유예술 작품의 조형적 표현을 연구하였다. 위의 작가들의 작품들에 대해서 그 제작동기, 사용된 재료와 기법, 작품표현의 성격, 제작배경 등을 분석하였다. 섬유예술의 역사적 과정에 대한 서적과 예로 선택한 작가와 작품들에 대한 문헌연구 및, 자연과 일상생활 속에서의 미적감정을 재료와 기법에 의해 조형적으로 표현하고자 하는 의도로써 제작한 7점의 섬유작품을 연구의 범위로 삼았다. 본 연구는 자연과 일상생활 속에서 경험한 미적감정과, 본인의 정신세계를 섬유작품으로 표현하는 과정에서 다음과 같은 결론에 도달하였다. 첫째, 섬유는 그 종류와 기법에 따라서 제각기 다양하고 독특한 특성을 갖고 있는 물질적 요소이지만 이 요소들에 의하여 미적충동을 예술적으로 표현할 수 있다. 둘째, 창의적이며 독창적인 섬유작품을 제작하기 위해서 다양한 기법과 방법의 혁신, 그리고 새로운 재료의 개발이 절대적으로 필요하다. 세째, 개성적인 창조적 가치를 위한 내적과정으로서의 정신적인 문제를 끊임없이 탐구하여 외면적 표현기법과 내면적 정신의 가치가 어느 한 쪽에 편중됨이 없이 조화를 이루었을 때에 진실된 의미의 섬유예술작품이 된다. 요즈음 섬유예술은 범위가 더욱 확장되고 다양해지면서 점차 그 중요성이 높아지는 추세에 있다. 이러한 발전적인 흐름을 지속시켜 나가기 위해서는 섬유예술에 대한 고정관념 보다 더 넓은 개방적인 시각으로 표현에 대한 재료와 기법의 적극적 개발과 함께 이것을 내면세계와 창조적으로 조화시켜야 하겠다.;The arts created by human beings are not only merely derived from immitation of an object but also sought the possibility of self-expression through an object. Among the numerous artistic works which showed pure volition of construction to express free creative subjectivity of spirit, as the fiber art works formed creatively by using the materials and technique, methodical attempt with active and positive has been selected an object of this study. The process of artistic work expressing my spiritual world with materials and technique rather than logical deploment of limited theory has been taken as subject of this study, analyzing historical process in fiber arts to be modernized as fine arts. Herein, the analysis of Magdalena Abakanowicz, Ritzi and Peter Jacobi, Olga De Amaral, Claire Zeisler's works that attempted image formation. Through above mentioned process, analysis on a few pieces of fiber art works was made in relation with the motive of production, the process of creation on how the materials and technique have been converted into artistic works the materials used and their characteristics and expression of works and the background of production. In addition, publications on the history of fine arts, studies of literature on the artists and their works selected as examples of this study, and seven pieces of fiber works producted in an attempt to express creatively by using the materials and technique have been chosen as scope of this study. In this study, aesthetic objects and experiences in nature and everyday life were sublimated within my spiritual world produced into fiber arts, the following conclusions were to be come. Firstly, in producing the fiber works various materials and technique, methodical renovation are absolutely required. Secondly, when external and internal factors harmonized without attaching too much importance on one side, fiber artists can complete really production of work. Therefore, with a opened view than a fixed idea a continued research and experimental efforts on the materials and technique should be positively exerted and harmonized with spiritual world creatively.
