문화운동의 철학적 이해

Abstract

The third world is in the height of culture movement. In Africa, it developed into a poem movement. In Latin America's underdeveloped nations the movement is led by the film makers, and a traditional masque dance (Tal-Chum) is popular in a host of South Korea's colleges and universities. The culture movements are supported by several theories , of which the influential ones are the theory of nationalist culture , the theory of popular culture , and the hegemony theory. These theories , in turn , seem to have a common philosophical basis : The liberation philosophy. This philosophy of liberation includes, again, the ideology of national liberation , of human liberation and the liberation of nature. The ideology of liberation in the third world aims at a new world that is free of the conflicts brought by the two established ideologies called capitalism and socialism. It defines the neo-colonialism imposed by the world powers upon the third world nations through cultural domination The philogophical basis of the culture movement is the principle of equality . But the point here is not just of the political equality among the indivisual citizens , but mainly for the kind of cultural equality among nations, sexes, and social classes.;오늘날 제3세계 국가들에서 일어나고 있는 문화운동은 기존 문화의 다양성을 입증해 주는 현상인가, 아니면 그와는 전혀 다른 가치체계를 지향하는 새로운 문화인가. 이 글은 이러한 문제로부터 출발하였다. 이 문제를 풀기 위해 제3세계 탄생의 역사적 배경을 살펴보아 통시적인 접근을 한 뒤, 아프리카 시, 라틴아메리카 영화운동, 한국의 대학가에서 시작된 탈춤, 마당극 운동의 현황을 통해 공시적인 접근을 함으로써 문화운동을 전체적으로 볼 수 있는 통합적 구성작업을 해보았다. 이러한 작업을 통해 문화운동의 대표적 이론유형을 추출해냈으며, 이것들은 민족문화론, 민중문화론, 헤게모니이론으로 집약할 수 있었다. 과연 이 이론들은 어떤 철학적 기초를 갖고있는가. 그것은 제3세계 스스로의 자기인식에서 출발한 제3세계적 관점을 갖고서 민족해방, 인간해방, 자연해방이라는 해방의 철학이었으며, 민중인 동시에 지식인인 새로운 인간의 탄생을 요구하는 인간관을 담고 있었다. 물론 해방의 의미란 마르크스적인 해방을 따로 필요로 하지 않는 주체적 존재로서의 정당성을 요구하는 해방이며, 기존의 자본주의와 사회주의라는 세계를 지배하고 있는 거대한 이데올로기로 부터의 해방을 통한 새로운 세계관의 요청이었다. 제3세계 문화운동은 지배 피지배 관계의 식민주의 문화가 정치적 독립 후에도 계속되고 있는 강대국의 문화적 지배로 이어지면서 내부적으로도 지배의 이데올로기가 강화되는 데 대한 저항으로서 나타났으니, 이것은 세계의 문화가 지배의 가치체계를 전파시키는 문화로 규정된 것을 의미하며, 새로운 문화운동은 평등의 가치체계를 지닌 새로운 세계관을 담고있다 볼 수 있다. 이는 세계사적인 인식의 대전환을 요구하는 중요한 운동이라는 결론에 도달하기에 충분한 것이었다. 따라서 문화운동은 기존 문화에 대한 상호보완적인 것이 아닌 대립적인 가치체계를 지향하고 있음을 알게되었다. 나아가 문화운동은 과연 인간이 창조한 문화가 무엇인가, 어떤의미를 갖고 있는가에 대한 반성적이고 비판적인 철학적 시각을 요청한다. 이는 문화철학의 가능성을 제시하는 것이다.
