세포 이미지의 형상화

Abstract

We, human beings, have a strong drive to express whatever we see and feel in our life world and the Nature. Like a layman, artists manifest our innermost streams of experiences on objects, but unlike him they express them into "the visual images" with their own unique modes of expressions. Specifically Speaking, he represents what we feel and experience in the presente of objects into Visual images by means of imputting his mind into the given spaces, made of line, plane and colors. Essential spects of artists' appoaches to the given objects, therefore, are spiritual ones. through such spiritual strivings he "figurates" what he experiences in his surroundings into visual images. The basic differences between artists and scientists lie in how to approach to the given object. We, artists, approach to the givens with subjective, spiritual and aesthetic eyes, on the other hand scientists do to them with objective eyes and technological devices. The purpose of our works is to express vividly and freshly dynamic images extracted from a cell which we consider as a basic unit of eiving organism. In our treatise, we suggest that we can accomplish such a purpose through our subjective, aesthetic and spiritual figurations of experiences of image of cell beyond scientific description with a use of a microscope as a product of modern technological developments. Therefore, in our works, we emphasize on the figurations of aesthetic image rather than scientific image to express the livelines of cell vividly. In conclusion, we can arrange our suggestions into three points as follows: First, An act of art is begun by trying to comprehend all the aspects objects. Surrounding us. Therefore, the discoverries of liveliness of objects and artists' aesthetic experiences on them are the basis of figuration of visual images. Secondly, we could derive sufficient formative effects from even a cell which we have considered stereotypingly as the unique material of scientific researches. Lastly, in the process of manufacturer we could create various atmospheres through the technique of paraffin. It could increase the effects of liquidity and space sense. For my future as an artist, I will study the aesthetic images of cell more sincerly than ever and I believe it will be hopeful for my artistic activities.;우리 인간은 누구든지 본능적으로 보고 느낀것을 표현 하려는 충동을 지니고 있다. 이러한 표현 방식에는 언어 글 등 여러가지의 방법이 있겠지만 미술은 사물에 대한 직감적인 체험을 통해 자기의 내면의식을 시각적으로 표현하는 조형예술인 것이다. 작가는 선, 면, 색채 요컨대 주어진 공간에 감정을 담아서 자기가 사물을 바라보고 느끼는 심상을 자기 나름대로의 언어로 표현하는데 작품에는 작가의 이같은 심리적인 고백이 그대로 반영되어 나타난다고 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 사물에 대한 본질적인 접근은 대부분의 예술가가 그들 나름대로 추구하는 정신적인 것이며 이러한 추구는 우리를 둘러싸고 있는 모든 자연환경 우주질서를 중심으로 끊임없이 이루어지고 있다고 하겠다. 이러한 과정에 준거해서 우리는 우리의 작품에서 육안으로 관찰할 수 있는 것 보다 우리 주위의 모든 생명력 있는 사물의 기본을 이루고 있는 세포를 유동성 있는 형태로 관찰하여 그 속에서 생동적 이미지를 추출하여 나타내려 하였다. 작품에서 표현하고자 하는 세포는 과학문명이 고도로 발달한 오늘날 현미경과 같은 과학문명의 산물로써 과학적으로 파악된 세포라기보다는 모든 사물의 기본을 이루는 최소 단위인 생명력의 형태라는 의미로 파악된 세포라는 데에 그 가치가 있다고 본다. 따라서 세포 그 자체의 이미지를 표현하기 보다는 본 연구자의 주관적인 미적 체험에 의하여 세포 이미지를 형상화 하였다. 이와같이 과학적 이미지의 세포를 예술적 이미지의 형상화로 작품 제작을 해나가는 과정에서 얻은 결론을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예술은 주위 대상의 모든면을 관찰하면서 부터 비롯된다. 그러므로 대상이 갖고 있는 생명력을 발견하는 일과 미적체험은 대상을 시각적 이미지로 전개하는 바탕이라 할 수 있다. 둘째, 세포의 이미지를 작품의 주제로 삼아 작품을 전개해본 결과 처음에 우려했던 것과는 달리 소재로서 적절하였고 조형적 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 셋째, Silk천에 산성염료를 이용하여 작품을 제작하는 과정에서 그 재효적인 특성은 부드러운 분위기를 연출할 수 있었고 파라핀을 이용하여 뿌리고 막으며 덧칠해 나가는 기법의 효과는 대상에 대한 유동성 공간성 등을 형성하는데 매우 효과적 이었다. 또한 작품제작을 통해 앞으로의 방향을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 염료와 섬유의 불규칙적인 특성에는 매우 독특한 우연적 효과가 내포되어 있으므로 계속적인 경험을 쌓아 간다면 독특한 분위기와 함께 폭넓은 개발로 보다 다양한 가능성을 발견할 수 있을 것이라 믿는다. 둘째, 작품제작 과정을 통해 얻은 조형의식을 바탕으로 생활과 가까와질 수 있는 차원까지 발전해 나갈 수 있도록 연구해 나가려 한다. 셋째, 작품을 제작해 나가는 동안 그 동안의 연구가 나에게는 커다란 도움이 되었으며 이를 바탕으로 앞으로의 작품 생활에도 훌륭한 밑거름이 되리라 본다.
