August Bournonville에 관한 硏究

Abstract

덴마크의 코펜하겐에서 프랑스의 무용수 겸 발레 마스터인 Antoinc Bournonville의 아들로 태어난 August Bournonville은 탁월한 무용수요, 偉大한 敎師, 비범한 接舞의 天才로서 뛰어난 활약을 했으며, 오늘날까지 그의 名聲은 빛나고 있다. 부르농빌은 19世紀 浪漫主義 時代에 살았으며 따라서 그의 作品과 舞踊世界에는 낭만주의적 요소가 짙게 남아 있다. 부르농빌은 고국인 덴마크의 발레 發展에 주도적 役割을 했으며, 특히 덴마크 발레를 대변하는 Royal Danish Ballet단의 발레 마스터로 크게 활약했다. 부르농빌은 침체에 빠졌던 Royal Danish Ballet단을 세계적 수준의 발레단으로 끌어 올렸으며 그의 지대한 공헌으로 인해 오늘날까지도 그 名聲을 누리게 되었던 것이다. 또한 그는 수많은 발레리나와 남성 무용수를 輩出해 냈는데, 특히 그의 불후의 명작인 「La Sylphide」에서 女主人公을 해낸 Lucile Grahn과 Juliette Price는 기념비적인 存在들이며, 現代에는 Royal Danish Ballet단에서 활약하고 있는 무용수들이 부르농빌의 作品을 끊임없이 무대에 올림으로써 그의 발레 傳統이 世代를 이어가며 내려오고 있다. 부르농빌은 1836년 公演되었던 「La Sylphide」에서 그의 愛弟子였던 Lucile Grahn의 상대역인 'James'役을 맡았었다. 이와같이 남성 무용수로도 활약했던 그는 그당시 남성 무용수들의 位置가 발가락 끝으로 사뿐히 솟은 순결하고 안개같은 발레리나의 육체적 뒷받침을 해주는 役割에 불과 하다는 점에 크게 자극을 받아 남성 무용수의 지위 향상을 위해 노력했다. 무용단의 예술감독으로 남성 무용수들의 위치를 重要한 위치에 배치하였으며, 남성 무용수에게 보다 效率的인 'Elevation'과 'Ballon'과 같은 고도의 技術을 創案하여 남성 무용수들에게 이와 같은 기술을 연마 시켰다. 또한, 단지 기술 연마에 불과한 것이 아니라, 남성 무용수들이 주관을 갖고 內部로 부터 우러 나오는 발레를 追求할 것을 강조 하였다. 부르농빌의 이와같은 끊임없는 노력에 의해 발레리나만이 높이 평가받던 시기에도, 덴마크에서 만은 남성 무용수들의 重要性이 지속될 수 있었다. 부르농빌은 동작의 흐름이 음악과 관계된 안무를 통해 낭만주의 시대의 가장 위대한 안무가로써 활약했다. 부르농빌의 大作 뒤에는 춤의 스타일, 무용수들의 훈련방법 그리고 Hans Beck이 기록으로 남겨 후세의 무용수들에게 전한 확고한 교수법이 있었다. 부르농빌 발레를 무대에 올리려면 무엇보다도 그의 춤을 추는 법을 알아 내는 것이 중요하다. 그의 교수법은 그가 죽은 후에 'Bournonville School'로 성문화되어 발레 훈련의 기초가 되었다. 이상과 같이 본 論文에서는 부르농빌의 時代的 背景과 藝術世界를 살펴 보고 특히, 그가 남성 무용수 지위 향상에 끼친 지대한 영향과 그의 일생을 바쳐 헌신하였고, 오늘날까지 명성을 떨치고 있는 Royal Danish Ballet와의 관계를 살펴 봄으로써 발레에 끼친 부르농빌의 업적에 대해 고찰해 보았다.;August Bournonville, born at Copenhagen in Denmark as a son of Antoine Bournonville who was dancer and ballet master, has showed superior activity as a prominent ballet dancer, a great master and a genius of extra ordinary choreography, and so he has an undying fame even in these days. (today). Since Bournonville lived in the time of Romanticism in 19th century, his works and dancing was tinged strongly with those Romantic elements. He played an important role in developing his homeland's, -Danish- ballet, and especially he displayed activity as a ballet master of Royal Danish Ballet which represented the whole Danish ballet. Bournonville promoted the Royal Danish Ballet to a world-wide level and that is the reason why his fame remains today. Also he produced a number of ballerinas and male dancers, and particularly Lucile Grahn and Juliette Price who performed the female leading role of his master piece ‘La Sylphide’were best celebrities. At present, the Royal Danish Ballet performs continually Bournonville's works to succeed his ballet tradition. In 1836, Bournonville performed the main role, James's of ‘La Sylphide’with Lucile Grahn who was his best disciple. Thus, he took an active part in dancing and he strived to raise male dancer's position stimulated by the fact that a male dancer was expected only to support a ballerina's performance which was done mainly by toe to take an aspect of innocence and mist-likeness. As an art director of corps de ballet, he disposed male dancers to more important roles and disciplined them with highly effective techniques such as ‘Elevation’and ‘Ballon’. Besides, he not only disciplined them, but also emphasized that they must pursue more inwarding ballet with subjectiveness. As a result of his consistent efforts as such, it was possible to maintain the male dancers' important performings when at a time only ballerinas valued. Bournonville was the greatest choreographer of his times that participated in composition by making the movements correspond with music. Behind his masterpieces, there are certain teaching methods of dancing styles, disciplining male dancers and of others recorded by Hans Beck for posterity. It is very important to know Bournonville's dancing techniques to perform his ballet upon a stage. After his death, his teaching methods became so called ‘Bournonville School’as a basic law of ballet exercises. So, in this thesis I've studied Bournonville's life correlatively with his time and his artistry, and especially his contributions in ballet throughout the efforts to raise male dancer's position, which closely related with the Royal Danish Ballet that maintains its fame ever in these days.
