타피스트리 재료의 특성에 대하여

Abstract

섬유(Fiber)는 인류가 인간다운 문화 생활을 하면서부터 우리의 실 생활에 매우 유익한 재료로서 다양하게 쓰여져 왔다. 필요에 의해서 동물의 가죽이나 모피 또는 식물의 줄기·잎등을 그대로 사용하다가 도구를 만들어 사용할 줄 알게되면서 섬유를 방적한(Spinning) 실로 서로 교차시켜 직물(Fabrics)을 만들어 내게되었다. 방적 섬유의 기술은 민간이 유랑생활을 버리고 한 곳에 정착해 살면서 전세계적으로 일어 났으며, 원료는 지역적 토양과 기후에 따라 달리 택해졌다. 기술은 기본적으로 거의 같았으나 재료의 성질에 따라서 차차 수정되어 개량 되어왔다. 수직(Tapestry Weaving)은 이러한 재료의 발달과 더불어 발전하게 되었으며 재료에 따라서 각기 다른 특성과 질감을 가진 직물을 만들어 내었다. 이 직물들은 실용적이거나 혹은 장식적인 목적으로 사용되었으며 현재까지 발전하여왔다. 현대에 이르러 시대적 흐름과 사회환경에 따라 변화를 이룬 미술 양식으로서 다양한 표현 양식과 재료선택 영역의 확대로 인하여 많은 변혁을 가져와 여러 창작 행위를 보여주게 되었다. 이와같은 변화는 타피스트리(Tapestry)에 있어서도 예외는 아니다. 직조에 사용되는 도구의 발달과 더불어 독특한 질감과 중량감을 주는 실과 천의 조형이 이루어지게 되었으며, 이외에도 현대 과학 문명의 발달에 의한 새로운 화학 섬유의 출현에 따라, 그 선택의 범위가 더욱 넓어져 작품의 성격도 매우 다양해지고 있다. 따라서 앞으로 더욱 많은 재료의 출현 가능성을 가진 섬유예술(Fiber Art)은 다양한 재료의 특성을 충분히 살려서 차원높은 예술 양식으로 발전시켜 나가야 할 것이다.;Fibers have been very useful materials in many ways in real life as people started having civilized life. People had used furs or skins of animals or Leaves or stems of plants if they were needed. However, as they were starting to make and use tools, they began making fabrics by crossing threads using fisher spinning. The techniques of spinning fibers took place world widely as human stopped a wandering life and lived in one place. The row materials were chosen according to the geographical difference in soil and climate. Basically the techniques were quite similar but improved in accordance with the characteristics of the raw materials. The tapestry weaving has advanced with the development of raw materials and according to the raw materials fabrics with different characteristics and texture were produced. These fabrics were succeeded to next generations for the purpose of practical or decorative use of item and still keeps on developing. In modern days as time and social environment change, there are more ways of expression and more material selections to engage in creative art in materials, shapes and techniques. These changes are not exception to tapestry. In accordance with the development of tools used in weave, there have been many changes in weave decision making in materials. Also with new inventions in chemical synthesis in modern scientific world the characteristic of production have been more diversified than ever as the choices of materials are increased more and more. Therefore the fiber art should be developed to even higher state of art with special emphasisin characterises of materials since there are more possibilities in developing new materials.
