듀이의 도덕교육원리 탐구

Abstract

본 연구는 듀이의 많은 저서 중 에 서 도덕교육원리에 관한 부분을 분석, 체계화하여 그 교육적 의의를 살펴보는데 목적을 두었다. 오늘날 지식과 기술 우위의 교육풍토는 도덕교육의 중요성을 간과하게 하고, 현실의 도덕교육에 있어서도 여전히 시대착오적인 구시대의 교훈이나 몇가지 전통적 덕목 위주의 주입식 교육에만 그치게 함으로써, 앎과 행함의 괴리문제를 비롯한 도덕교육상의 많은 문제를 제기하고 있는데, 이는 도덕교육에 대한 보다 깊고 다양한 연구들에 의하여 극복되어야 한다. 듀이는 생활이 곧 도덕이요 도덕교육이라고 하는 광의의 도덕관에 기초하여 프라그마티즘의 도덕교육원리를 전개하였으므로, 그의 도덕교육원리에 대한 체계적 이해야말로, 현실과 유리된 도덕적 지식의 주입에만 머물러 있는 우리의 도덕교육을 개선하는데 시사하여 주는 바가 클 것으로 보고 전개한 본 연구는, 1. 듀이는 도덕의 본질을 어떻게 보았는가? 2. 듀이 도덕교육의 기본원리는 어떠한가? 3. 그 교육적 의의는 무엇인가? 에 초점을 두게 되었다. 이러한 문제에 대하여 연구를 진행시킨 결과 듀이는 도덕의 본질을 문제상황에 처하여 평가, 탐구하는 인간성에 기초하여 밝혀나감으로써 우선 종래 도덕관의 모순점을 상당히 극복하였고, 이러한 도덕관에 기초한 그의 도덕교육원리는 보아 실효성이 있고 전인적인 도덕교육, 융통성이 있고 민감한 도덕교육, 과학적인 도덕교육을 실시할 수 있는 것으로서, 우리의 도덕교육에 대하여 일깨워 주는 바가 크다고 볼 수 있는 것이었다.;The purpose of this study is to review the educational meanings by analyzing and systemizing the parts of the principles of moral education in Dewey's many books. Today's educational climate making much of knowledge and technology makes us to pass over the importance of moral education and result in emphasizing just anachronistic instruction or some traditional morals in a real moral education. In the light of basic educational goal of building up personality, these educational situations raise a serious problem and should be recovered through deep and various researches on moral education. Dewey, whose theory is based upon the broad view of moral that life is moral, moral education, developed a very useful effective and scientific principles of moral education of pragmatism. Therefore the systematic comprehension of his principles helps us to improve our present moral education staying at craming unreal moral knowledge. With the above-mentioned points, this study is focused on, 1. What Dewey thought of the nature of moral or value. 2. What the basic principles of his moral education are. 3. What meanings we can find out from his principles. Conclusively, 1. By defing that human being is destined to meet problematic situations, consider the given conditions and search for possible solutions which others would concede, Dewey maintained that value or moral can be originated in that human nature and recovered successfully the contradiction of the traditional view of value or moral. 2. His principles of moral education based on this view of moral is a more effective education method for the whole man, scientific, flexible, and practical moral education. 3. From his principles, we can get much useful ideas to carry out the better moral education.
