70년대 섬유작품의 재료와 표현기법 연구

Abstract

In the concept of modern art, for many basic factors are related closely together and motivated to one another. Even in fiber art is, in some point, technical research and experimental approach have to be handled. It means that fiber art is deeply connected with creative factors to make a total harmony through artist's potentiality based on expression ability, individual technique, material and choice of motives. In this the this, I would like to study on the effects made from materials and techniques about fiber art work achieved in 1970s. One of the most important changes in this period is the choice of various materials. Since the 1960s Rope had been used as important material and in addition, other new techniques were developed. Specially, refined cotton has been selected and the dying and sowing have been developed for the material. One of the main attitudes in the 1970s, not only hand-made textiles woven by a loom but also commercial textiles woven by a loom, have been recognized by many fiber artists again. Felting and paper making were also new has been increased during the period. Interests on, in the 1970s, classicism have been accurred in. In making my on art work, I tried to express images mixed with nature by concentration on color by various dyed threads and the concept of time. I feel ‘Mountain’ and 'Cloud' are essences of nature in my works. Visual simplication and color are very important elements for expressing my imagenation.;현대 조형 예술은 여러 영역의 미술 개념들이 서로 새로운 자극을 제공함으로써 상호 영역이 확산 침투되어 그 한계가 유동적이기 때문에 모든 미술분야의 개념 규정이 사실상 무의미한 상태이다. 섬유 예술 역시 기술적인 연구와 실험 정신으로 재료를 다루어야 한다는 복합적인 요소가 강하다. 이것은 예술가 자신의 잠재적인 표현 능력과 개성적인 기법 및 재료, 소재의 선택 등을 통해 전체적인 융화를 찾는 창작의 요소가 풍부함을 가르킨다. 본 논문에서는 재료와 표현 기법의 효과에 관하여 70년대 제작된 섬유 작품을 중심으로 연구하고자 한다. 70년대 중요한 변화중의 하나는 다양한 재료 선택에서 찾아볼 수 있다. 로프( Rope )는 60년대 이후 중요한 재료로 부각되었고 이와 더불어 새로운 기법이 등장 하였다. 직물로는 일반적으로 섬세하게 잘 짜여진 면 ( cotton )이 주 재료로 선택되어 여기에 따른 염색 기법이나 바느질 기법이 연구 되었다. 또 하나의 주된 양상은 직기로써 짜여질 뿐 아니라 직기에 의해 구성된 직물에 대한 관심이 새롭게 재인식 되었다는 사실을 들 수 있다. 한편 직물에만 의존하지 않고, 펠트화 된 양모나 종이의 형태로 된 섬유질로도 표현 되었다. 또한 70년대는 고전주의의 회귀와 같은 양상이 나타나고 있다. 이러한 여러가지 변화에 대하여 알아 봄으로써 본인 작품 제작의 효과를 높이고자 하였다. 작품 제작에 있어서는 자연을 소재로 자연 현상이 서로 어우러지며 나타내는 이미지를 염색한 실의 색채 효과와 색채에 내재한 시간성의 문제에 중점을 두어 제작 하였다. 작품에 나타난 '산, 구름', 등은 자연대상의 시각적 단순화를 통하여 자연의 본질을 단순화한 이미지의 전환에서 그 본질이 파악 되어야 한다. 작품에 나타난 색채는 자연 대상물의 이미지와 뗄 수 없는 상관관계를 이루고 있으며 색채가 이미지 표현의 강력한 도구임을 보여주고자 하였다.
