스티치 니트(Stitch Knit) 기법을 응용한 니트웨어 디자인 연구

Abstract

Modern society has created unique and new techniques in field of fashion design, resulted from rapid changes for active response against the current of the internationalization and the subsequent variety of culture. Therefore, we should interpret fashion designs by means of new feelings, study an unbounded possibility to develop designs and materials, and hand to the next generation. Moreover, the knit industry is given a great deal of weight on the national economy as well as the contribution is significant in Korea, so that the knit design among other fields of fashion design has been recognized as a promising business type to allow the creation of higher added value compared to other business types in the textile field. In the light of this matter, currently, we should develop our own original brands in the world under a keen competition due to the internationalization by kicking the imitation of the advanced countries, and improve the quality and faculties required to compete with the fashion-advanced countries fairly. Though the weight of knit has been increased in fashion with popularity of knitwear and a consumers great concern recently, the knit industry in Korea requires diversified efforts to find various plans leading more creative, practical, and original knit brands in actuality. The "Stitch Knitting" technique developed in Japan can save time and efforts in knitting as well as express the desired design in a base directly and knit stitch considering a sense of the quality and color of yarn, resultingly allow faster, and simpler, and elaborated knitting that the existing knitting techniques. Accordingly, this study was attempted to introduce a "Stitch Knitting" technique of a new production technique of knitwear, to suggest new expressions and possibilities of knit, and ultimately to provide fundamental factors showing creativity and expression for the purpose of promoting the growth of the knit industry in Korea. A major issue of this study is the concept and production method of "Stitch Knitting", and the subjects of this study are data and works concerning the "Stitch Knitting" technique. As a material of work, 100% wool was used for a stitch knitting base and slub woolen yarn, artificial suede tape, ribbon tape, and rabbit fur was mainly used in stitch. The findings of this study are as follows. First, it was shown that the stitch knitting technique enables the easy expression of pattern effects, so that the expression scope of knitwear can be widen greatly. Second, as a easier and simpler technique compared to Hand Knitting technique, the stitch knitting technique allows the expression of embossed images on the surface of clothes as well as peculiar expression of a sense of the quality in clothes by strengthening features of yarn. Third, the stitch knitting technique can prevent the "Curl Up" phenomenon, which the edge is curled, as a feature of knit, and clothes with generally well-arranged silhouette can be made. Fourth, it was revealed that the stitch knitting technique that was combined and developed with knitting technique and stitch technique can satisfy an emotional demand of the moderns who pursue original and differentiated images. It is expected that this study will greatly contribute to expand a possibility to be familiar to knit for many people beyond the scope of knitted goods with the introduced new knitting technique, "Stitch Knitting" technique. This study is limited to vertical knitting and crossed knitting stitch among stitch knitting techniques. Therefore, a concern about wide studies with various stitch techniques as well as development of materials to show features of a handicraft technique should be expanded. ; 현대 사회는 국제화의 물결에 적극적으로 대처하기 위한 급격한 변화와 이에 따라 접하게 되는 문화의 다양성으로 인하여 복식디자인 분야에서 독특하고 새로운 테크닉을 창출하고 있다. 그러므로 우리에게는 복식디자인을 새로운 감각으로 해석하고 디자인과 소재의 무한한 개발가능성을 연구하여 다음 세대에 전수할 의무가 있다. 이와 더불어 특히 우리나라의 니트산업이 국가 경제에 차지하는 비중이 크고 그 기여하는 바도 절대적인 점을 감안 할 때 여러 분야의 복식디자인 분야 중에서 니트 디자인은 타 섬유업종에 견주어 고부가가치를 창출할 수 있는 유망한 업종으로 평가되고 있다. 이를 거울로 삼아 우리도 이제는 선진 모방형에서 탈피하여 국제화로 인해 경쟁이 심화되고 있는 세계 속에 우리 고유의 독창적인 브랜드를 개발하여 패션 선진국들과 당당히 마주 설 수 있도록 자질과 능력을 개발해야 할 것이다. 최근 들어서 니트웨어의 유행과 소비자들의 큰 관심 속에서 니트가 패션 내에 차지하는 비중이 커지고 있지만 우리나라 니트 업계의 현실은 보다 창의적이고 실용적이며 독창적인 니트 브랜드가 나올 수 있도록 여러 가지 방안들을 다각도로 모색하는 노력을 요구하고있다. 일본에서 개발된 "스티치 니트" 기법은 뜨는 시간과 노력을 절약함과 동시에 원하는 디자인을 직접 베이스에 표시함으로써 실의 질감이나 색채를 즐기면서 스티치하여 기존의 니트 기법보다 빠르고 간단하면서도 깊이가 있다는 것이 장점이다. 이에 본 연구는 니트웨어의 새로운 제작 방법인 "스티치 니트(stitch knit)"기법을 소개함으로서 니트의 새로운 표현 방법과 가능성을 제시하고 나아가 우리나라 니트 산업의 성장을 도모하기 위해 창의성과 표현력을 발휘할 수 있는 바탕요소를 제공하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 연구 내용은 "스티치 니트"의 개념과 제작 방법에 대해 알아보고, "스티치 니트" 기법에 대한 자료와 작품들을 설명하는 것이 그 주요 대상이다. 작품의 소재는 울(wool) 100% 스티치 니트 베이스를 사용하고 스티치에 사용되는 소재는 주로 슬러브 모사, 인조 스웨이드 Tape, 리본 Tape, 토끼털 등을 사용하였다. 연구의 결과를 종합하여 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 스티치 니트 기법은 자유로운 문양 효과를 표현할 수 있어 니트웨어의 표현 영역이 더욱 확대될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 핸드니팅(Hand Knitting) 기법보다 한층 쉽고 간단한 방법으로 의상 표면에 부조적 이미지를 표현할 수 있고, 실의 특성을 부각시켜 의상의 재질감을 독특하게 표현할 수 있다. 셋째, 니트의 특성 중의 하나인 가장자리 부분이 휘말리는 현상, 즉 컬업(Curl up)이 없으므로 의상의 전체적인 실루엣이 잘 정돈됨을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 니팅 기법과 스티치 기법을 결합하여 개발된 스티치 니트 기법은 독창적이며 차별화된 이미지를 추구하는 현대인의 감성요구에 부합됨을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 새로운 니팅 기법인 "스티치 니트" 기법을 소개함으로서 편물의 틀을 넘어 보다 많은 사람들이 니트와 친숙해 질 수 있는 가능성을 확대하는 데 기여하는 바가 클 것으로 생각한다. 본 연구의 범위는 스티치 니트의 종뜨기, 횡뜨기 스티치에 한정되어 이루어져 있다. 따라서 다양한 스티치 방법을 통한 폭넓은 연구와 수공예적 기법의 특징을 살릴 수 있는 소재 개발에도 많은 관심을 가져야 할 것이다.
