터킹(Tucking)을 응용한 현대 복식 디자인 연구

Abstract

자연이 지니고 있는 이상적인 조형방식을 통해 환경을 인위적으로 변화시키려는 인간의 노력은 인류의 역사가 시작된 이래 계속되어 왔다. 자연물의 존재적 수행력이야말로 생물학적으로 약한 인간에게는 언제나 동경의 대상이었다. 자연물 가운데 암석은 긴시간 동안 무한한 변화와 조화속에서 합리적인 형태인 자연적인 패턴을 만들어왔다. 일찍이 예술가들은 그속에서 자연 이미지를 재구성하여 시각화하여왔다. 암석 모티브를 이미지로 도입함에 있어 다양한 형태와 선적인 구성, 재질감의 아름다움들은 복식 디자인에 풍부한 이미지를 제공한다. 이에 본 연구는 암석의 모티브를 이미지로 형상화하여 복식에 도입함에 있어 선적인 구성과 질감을 강조하기에 적합한 터킹기법을 응용하였다. 현대 복식에서 질감의 표현영역을 탐구하여 터킹에 의한 보식 디자인의 질감표현의 가능성을 모색하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로 문헌을 통하여 암석에 대해 고찰하였고, 암석의 자연미를 선, 색채, 재질로 나누어 조형적으로 분석하였다. 또한 암석형태를 모티브로 한, 현대미술 작품들을 표집, 분석하였다. 그리고 터킹의 역사와 문헌자료, 선구성에 의한 터크의 종류를 방향, 간격, 높이, 넓이로 나누어 연구하였고, 터킹의 표현기법, 터킹을 응용한 작품을 수집, 정리, 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 총 8점의 작품을 제작하였으며 암석의 선적 조형성을 재구성하여 현대복식 소재의 재질감의 표현영역 확대와 소재개발에 의한 고부가가치의 실용적인 복식디자인을 창출하는데 그 의의를 두고 있다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻은 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 암석의 자연미를 표현하는 과정에서 터크 기법에 의한 부조적인 요철효과로 인해 독특한 재질감 표출이 가능하였다. 둘째, 균형, 대칭, 조직적 비율 등을 시작적인 조화를 이루는 암석의 선적 구조를 표현함에 있어서 터킹기법은 자유로운 방향과 다양한 높낮이의 선구성을 가능케 하여 조형성을 풍부하게 하였다. 셋째, 암석사진에 나타난 2차원적인 요소의 선을 3차원적 공간인 복식에 도입함에 있어서 드래이프성이 좋은 실크소재의 사용은 율동적이고 조형적인 형태미의 표현을 가능케 하였다. 넷째, 복식색채에 있어서 라이트 그레이(Light-Grey)톤의 색채를 주조색으로 하고 색채대비 현상을 제한하여 모노톤의 그라데이션 효과를 사용함으로서 부조적 질감의 음영효과를 부각시킬 수 있었다. 터크기법은 가치와 독창성, 실용성, 예술성을 위해 다양한 방법으로 복식 디자인의 시도가 가능하다고 보며, 앞으로는 다른 기법과의 결합이 활발히 이루어져 터킹기법의 다양한 사용으로 보다 창의적인 표현의 가능성이 이루어지기를 기대한다. ; We are connected whit nature from which we can verity both our existence and our life. Nature exists by itself but its subsistence is affirmed Through the eyes of human. Thus, it is impossible to sever the connection between human and nature is the zone of life. We get deeply impressed by the immeasurable beauty of nature that many artists have chance to seek for the theme of their works from the mysterious world. Nature creates itself with peculiar materials and surroundings. The duty of a designer is to develop new formative art products whit creative ideas. Four conductions from the theoretical study on this formative art project is that the technique of tuck that has used the effect of ruggedness has made it possible to express the unique quality of boulder‘s natural beauty. And the second certainty is the pursuit of cubic effect of silhouette by changing the line which is the second dimension of boulder. In other words, active and physical beauty can be added to the dimensional ornament of dress. Third, the technique of tuck which approaches balance, symmetry, and ratio of boulder visually is the pastel color grey tone is added to stress the boulder‘s natural beauty. Several controversial issues have arose during the workshop. First of all, the combination of tuck and other techniques requires some handmaking touch to the completion. Second issue is the limitation of angular measure of line. To cut the cloth on bias before stitching along the line of tuck in order to accomplish the intended design. Expression of tuck dose not fit of its subject matter and that it is only the silhouette‘s modification. Ultimately, there are various ways to bring about the tuck designed dress’s utility, originality, and its artistic value. I am assured that this art will be a sure method to improve creative ideas and expression.
