밀리터리 룩 구두 디자인 연구

Abstract

복식은 그 시대의 미적 기준을 바탕으로 시대적 상황과 환경적 변화를 보여줌과 동시에 착용자의 스타일과 성격, 심리적인 상태까지도 표현한다. 복식에 영향을 주는 여러 요인들이 있겠지만, 그 중에 전쟁과 같은 큰 사건은 패션을 변화 시키는 중요한 매개체 역할을 한다. 특히 제 1, 2차 세계대전은 패션의 여러 가지 변화 요소 중에 군복의 이미지가 도입된 밀리터리 룩이라는 새로운 패션을 유행시키게 되었다. 밀리터리 룩은 군복에서 디자인 요소를 도입한 패션으로, 군복의 디테일을 응용한 의상과 액세서리에 이르는 것을 포함하는 개념이다. 빠르게 변화하는 현대 사회에서 패션 산업은 기존의 관념에서 벗어나 새로운 트랜드와 디자인으로 시장을 더욱 세분화 하며, 이러한 패션 시장의 변화와 함께 구두를 비롯한 액세서리 시장은 계속해서 새로운 스타일을 요구하고 있다. 수 세기를 거쳐 오면서 요즘처럼 패션에서 구두의 비중의 커진 적은 그 유래를 찾아보기 힘들 정도이며, 구두 디자인 분야는 괄목할 만한 성장을 하고 있다. 구두의 트랜드에도 밀리터리 룩은 꾸준히 등장하고 있는데, 밀리터리 룩 의상이 캐주얼의 유행과 더불어 다양하게 전개 되는 것과 비교하여 볼 때 단순한 군화 풍이 아닌, 기능적이거나 조형적으로 새로운 영역의 밀리터리 구두의 연구가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는, 기존의 군화 이미지의 구두 뿐만 아니라, 군복에서도 모티브를 얻어 수납과 고정 역할을 하는 포켓과 벨트의 기능적인 디테일과, 심미적인 요소인 상징적인 장식 디테일을 구두 디자인에 접목했다. 본 연구의 목적은, 한 가지 아이템으로 여러 가지 기능을 원하는 현대인의 심리를 적절히 수용하는 다양성을 이중구조의 조형물로 제시하고, 스포티하고 활동적인 이미지의 기능성과 섹시한 여성미가 크로스오버 되는 새로운 밀리터리 룩을 제시함으로써 구두 디자인의 표현 영역을 확대하는데 있다. 이론적 배경으로는 구두에 관한 일반적인 고찰과, 제 1, 2차 세계대전 당시 군복의 일반적인 고찰과, 미군 군복의 디테일에 대한 조형적 연구, 밀리터리 룩이 성립된 배경의 특징을 문헌 고찰과 사진 자료 수집 및 분석을 통하여 제시하고, 최근까지의 의복과 구두에 나타난 밀리터리 룩의 실례인 사진자료를 중심으로 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 군복에 관한 디자인적 조형 요소의 전반적인 고찰을 통하여, 제 1, 2차 세계대전 당시의 미군 군복의 디테일을 분석하고 여성 구두에 접목시켜 밀리터리 룩과 함께 선호되고 있는 활동적인 캐주얼 웨어와 조화되는 기능적이며 조형적인 작품을 디자인 하였다. 이와 같은 연구 과정을 통하여 롱 부츠, 발목 길이의 앵클 부츠, 롱 부츠를 겸할 수 있는 앵클 부츠, 슬링 백, 사이드 오픈 펌프스, 샌달 등의 작품을 총 11점 디자인, 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 군복의 장식 요소가 현대의 패션이 추구하는 기능성, 활동성과 접목되는 조형적 특징을 내포하기 때문에 밀리터리 룩은 지속적으로 유행 되고 있고, 구두 디자인은 이러한 군복의 장식 요소를 다양한 디자인 표현 방식으로서 도입할 수 있었다. 둘째, 직선적인 실루엣과 금속장식이 주는 차가운 남성적인 군복 이미지를 스트랩의 반복과 교차로 생긴 선적인 실루엣의 여성스러운 이미지와 융합하여 새로운 스타일의 밀리터리 룩을 제시 할 수 있었다. 셋째, 구두 디자인에 있어서 이중구조의 다기능성을 활용한 각반의 형태를 도입함으로써 용도에 따라 실루엣의 변형이 가능하도록 부츠의 다양성을 높일 수 있었다. 넷째, 군복의 대표적인 기능적 디테일인 포켓과 벨트 스트랩을 활용함으로 써 수납기능과 착용감을 주는 새로운 이미지의 구두 디자인을 제시하고, 장식적이고 상징적인 에폴릿(Epaulette)과, 배지(badge), 계급장과 훈장을 징 장식, 아일렛, 직조 테이프로 활용하여 조형적인 형태를 제시 할 수 있었다. 다섯째, 작품 색채에 있어서는 카키색과 빨간색과 같은 군복을 연상할 수 있는 대표적이고 상징적인 색채를 접목하였다. 파이핑 기법과, 피싱 기법을 통해 색채 대비를 표현함으로써 군복의 이미지를 더욱 부각 시킬 수 있었다. 이와 같이 본 연구를 통해서 군복의 기능성과, 장식의 조형적인 특성과 함께 다양성을 인식하고, 표현 방법에 따라 개성적이고 독창적인 밀리터리 룩에 의한 구두 디자인의 새로운 가능성을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 군복의 장식 요소를 활용하고 획일화 되어있는 군화 형태에서 벗어난 여성스러운 실루엣을 지닌 밀리터리 룩의 다양성을 인식하고, 이중구조의 형태가 독특한 조형성으로만 국한 되지 않고 기능성에 초점을 맞추어 더욱 다양하게 연구 되어지길 바란다.; Clothing, a means to express situation of a particular period, is a symbol reflecting not only the inner world of person wearing it but also environmental factors surrounding her/him, and mean to express situation of the times. Among those factors that affect clothing, big incidents such as wars are the most important factors that affect/change fashion, especially the World War ⅠandⅡ brought a new fashion called the ‘Military look” into vogue. Basically, the Military look is a fashion style that has the idea from the military uniform. The clothes and accessories were applied from the details of the military uniform. In this fast changing modern society, the fashion industries have been fractionated with new trends and designs, escaping existing concepts. With this change in fashion market, accessory markets, including shoes, continue to demand a new style. Shoes are given a great deal of weight on fashion market these days, and it is not too much to say that shoes now play a leading role in the fashion market. Remarkable growth has been made in shoes design! Military look has also appeared constantly in shoes fashion. Since military look clothes appear together with casual clothes, it is necessary to study military look shoes not only on the ‘military look’ itself but also on the functional and formative parts. In this study, pockets to put things in, functional details of belt, decorative elements to represent the details of shoes design is added along with the main military look image. The purpose of this study is to present a new military look image by fulfilling the demand of consumer’s want for multi functional item with producing dual structure works and also to expand area of shoes design by presenting sporty and active image together with sexy feminine image. For the theoretical backgrounds, investigation was focused on common characteristics of shoes and military uniforms during World War Ⅰand Ⅱ, studies on formative characteristics of U.S. military uniforms and the concept of its origination of Military look were collected and analyzed from documents and pictures of Military look and Military uniforms. Furthermore, actual examples of clothing and shoes were analyzed from the relative pictures. Through this theoretical research, feminine military casual shoes were designed and produced by applying shapes and functional details of World War Ⅰ and Ⅱ's military uniforms, creating a functional, formative shoes(works) harmonized with casual wear with military style which is recently in vogue. After all this process of studies, 11 works were designed and made - long boots, ankle boots-length upto ankle, ankle boots that can also be worn as long boots, sling-back, side-open pumps and sandal. The results of the research are as the following. First, the reason that military look has continued to be in fashion is that it contains the decorative factor that modern fashion purses and also has the morphological characteristics. Variety of shoes design could be created by utilizing decorative element of military uniforms as those can be used for decorative and also influence the image of shoes Second, it was sufficient to portray a lovely feminine military casual look combining details such as straight linear silhouette and metal ornaments which represent hard, masculine image of military uniform with linear silhouette made by repetition and crossing the strap. Third, put practical use of gaiters on boots and could be done with many kinds of design. Forth, new image of practical dress shoes with best fit and function which took advantage of the most typical and functional details like pocket and belt strap were presented. And also formative structure of shoes made by decorative and symbolic details such as epaulette, badge and medal which were applied and transformed with stud, eyelet and weaving tape were presented. Fifth, Khaki and Red was used as basic material colors because they give a Military Look's image. As for details, piping was used to express the contrast of colors to highlight the military image. With this study, we can understand the functionality of the military uniform and the diversity and formative aspect of the ornament. It shows new possibility about shoes design with military look, as the original. And I hope that more studies will be done to utilize the decorative elements of military uniform. Studies should be done not only on the shoes as ‘Military shoes’ but the different aspects such as the feminine silhouette should also be looked on. And studies on dual structure, for example boots that can be worn in 2 ways, long boots and ankle boots, should not only be limited to the unique formative aspects but also be focused on the functionality
