Robert Schumann의 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 본인의 석사 과정 이수를 위한 졸업 연주회의 곡목 중 하나인 슈만 (Robert Alexander Schumann 1810-1856) 의 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」에 대한 연구이다. 본 연구는 이 곡의 특징을 면밀히 분석함으로써 연주자의 해석과 연주를 돕는 데 그 목적이 있다. 19세기의 낭만주의 음악은 순수 예술, 연극 또는 문학과 같은 다른 예술 분야와의 접목이 빈번히 이루어졌다. 이는 성격 소품이라는 장르를 탄생시켰다. 슈만은 이러한 흐름에 지대한 관심을 갖고 앞장 서 있던 독일 낭만주의의 대표적인 작곡가이다. 슈만의 성격적 소품은 문학적인 면에서 영향을 받았고 자신의 생활체험과 주관적인 감정을 바탕으로 작곡하였다. 그는 문학으로부터 받은 영감을 작품에 표현하려고 하였으며 이는 그의 내면적인 자아와 결합하여 열정적이며 외향적인 플로레스탄과 사색적이며 내향적인 오이제비우스로 표현되었다. 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」는 슈만의 성격 소품 중 하나로, E. T. A. Hoffmann의 소설「수코양이 무어의 인생관」을 바탕으로 하고 있다. 이 곡은 8개의 곡으로 구성되었으며, 형식적으로는 순환적 3부 형식과 론도 형식이 쓰였다. 리듬적으로서는 붓점 리듬, 헤미올라, 당김음, 연속적인 삼연음부 등 통일성을 부여하면서도 각 곡의 개성을 주는 요소로 사용되었다. 선율은 그 자체가 하나의 뚜렷한 성격적 요소로서의 명백한 특징과 두드러진 개성을 지니고 있다. 선율은 단순하고 짧은 음형의 반복적 사용과 대위법적 수법에 의한 전개로 이루어지며 고조되며 상승하는 멜로디가 각곡에 반복적이면서 점진적인 발전을 가지며 나타난다. 반음계적 화성진행과 잦은 전조로 조성이 모호해지기도 하였으나 B♭장조와 관계조(relative key)인 g단조로 전체적인 조성을 유지하였다. 본 논문은 「Kreisleriana Op.16」의 분석을 통해 슈만의 음악적 특징이 작품에 어떻게 반영되었는지 구조와 성격, 선율, 리듬, 화성을 통해 알아보았다. 슈만은 이 작품에서 각각 성격적으로 이질적인 곡들을 모아 전체적인 통일성을 부여하여 한 곡으로 완성하였다. 그는 각곡에서 그의 상상력과 독창성 그리고 갑작스러운 변화를 그대로 담아내면서도 전체적으로 통일성을 주었다. 또한 이 작품이 갖는 음악적 내용과 형식이 그의 세계관을 잘 드러내었다.;This is a study of 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」 by Robert Schumann, one of the works played during the recital for the completion of Master's degree. The purpose of this study is to help performers to interpret and play the 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」 more precisely by looking into the particular features of this piece. The Romantic Music in the 19th century is frequently under the influence of the other genre of Art, such as theaters and its literature. This came to be known as 'Character Pieces' and its adoption was promptly heard henceforth throughout the whole of europe. Schumann's character pieces were composed under literary influences as well, however combined with his subjective emotions. Evident are his efforts to express in music the inspiration from the literature, though controversial, E.T.A.Hoffmann's novel 『The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr』. However his on-going inner struggle between two personalities, Florestan the revolutionist and Eusebius the introspective dreamer which prevails in this composition as well as all other works of his. 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」 is made up of 8 pieces and has the forms of ternary and rondo. In this composition, aforementioned double personality-the delicate and frail-hearted "Eusebius" and ardent "Florestan" -is well personified and contrasted by mood changes throughout the eight pieces. As for the notational characteristics, we can observe various rhythms such as dotted, hemiola, syncopation, frequent use of triplets, and various melodies such as the tensive ascending melody, imitated or fugue melodies through repetitive and gradual melodical progression in each piece. Although the harmony includes chromatic scales and frequent modulation, making the tonality somewhat ambiguous, the whole tonality is maintained by B♭Major and the relative key of g minor. Schumann's greatest strength in formal construction is his ability to make a unity out of the most disparate material, to create a single work out of apparently complete single miniatures. In other words, his method of construction not only preserve the air of caprice and willful imagination of each piece but also create a complete single work as a whole.
