쇼팽(Frederic Chopin : 1810-1849)의 「바르카롤」 (Barcarolle, Op.60)에 관한 연구

Abstract

쇼팽(Frederic Francois Chopin: 1810-1849)은 슈만(R. Schumann), 리스트(F. Liszt), 브람스(J. Brahms) 등과 함께 낭만주의 피아노 음악의 대표적인 작곡가로서 서양 음악사의 흐름 속에서 그 만의 독자적인 위치를 차지하고 있다. 쇼팽의 피아노 작품 대부분은 낭만주의의 이른 바 성격적 소품(chracter piece)에 속하는 것으로, 그는 이런 소품 형식 속에 새롭고 풍부한 음악적 내용을 담아내고 있다. 예를 들어 스케르쪼(scherzo), 에튀드(etude), 프렐류드(prelude)등에 있어 그는 이전까지의 같은 장르들과는 다른 개념을 추구하였다. 녹턴(nocturn)에서는 선구자인 존 필드(John Field)의 양식을 심화시켰고, 발라드(ballade)라는 새로운 피아노 장르를 창조했다. 또 살롱 음악으로서의 왈츠(waltz)에 시적 정취를 부여하였으며, 민속음악인 마주르카(mazurka)와 폴로네즈(polonaise)를 민족정신의 표현을 위한 예술적 악곡으로 양식화하였다. 이렇게 그의 소품들은 어느 장르 할 것 없이 그 만의 독창성을 잘 드러내준다. 본 논문은 쇼팽의 독창적인 장르라고 할 수 있는 작품, 「바르카롤」(Barcarolle in F#Major Op. 60)을 통해 그의 피아노 음악양식에 대해 살펴보았다. 쇼팽 음악에서 가장 특징적인 것은 템포 루바토(tempo rubato)의 사용이다. 이는 시간의 변화를 이용하여 음가를 늘이기도 줄이기도 하는 것이다. 쇼팽의 템포 루바토는 기본적인 박자와 리듬 안에서 이루어져야 한다. 그는 당대에 혁신적인 핑거링(fingering)과 페달링(pedaling)을 사용하였다. 손의 안정된 위치를 고려하며 가장 자연스럽고 아름다운 음악을 위해, 전통을 깨고서라도 가장 편안한 핑거링을 사용하였다. 쇼팽은 페달링에 있어 그 중요성을 인식하여 페달로서 표현할 수 있는 모든 기능들을 연구했다. 절제적이면서도 다채로운 그의 페달링은 보다 효과적인 음향을 표현해 내었다. 그의 작품에 자주 쓰이던 장식음 역시 그의 곡을 더욱 빛나게 해 주는 주요 요소이다. 쇼팽의 피아노 음악 양식은 그의 「바르카롤」에서도 잘 드러난다. 정형화된 형식 없이 비교적 자유롭게 쓰여진 이 곡은 뱃노래로서 가질 수 있는 리듬과 다양한 다이나믹, 페달링 등을 갖는다. 「바르카롤」은 그의 후기 작품으로 테크닉과 함께 곡에 대한 지적인 이해와 감성적인 이해를 조화시켜 표현해야 하는 어려운 곡 중 하나임에 틀림없다.;Frederic Francois Chopin(1810-1849) is a composer representing the Romantic music, along with R.Schumann, F.Liszt, J.Brahms. He is a greatly renowned Polish composer, incomparable genius of the piano who created a unique romantic style of keyboard music. Most of Chopin's piano works are generally categorized as romantic character pieces. F.Chopin wrote the music with fresh, exuberant musical contents. He pursued a different concepts of music from the existing examples that are Scherzo, Etude, Prelude. In Nocturn, he deepened and developed the style of John Field, who was considered as a pioneer in the field. And Chopin also created a new piano genre, so-called the Ballade. In addition, he put the poetic moods on Waltz as a form of salon music. And he began to transform the folk music, such as Mazurka and Polonaise into the music as an art which expressed the Polish spirit. After all, his piano music pieces show the prominent originality. This thesis reviews the style of Chopin's piano music with Barcarolle in F# Major op.60. The most distinctive feature in Chopin's music is the use of tempo rubato, fingering, pedaling and ornaments. His tempo rubato should be performed within the limits of the basic tempo and rhythm. He innovated the use of fingering and pedaling. He used the most comfortable fingering for the pianist, based on the stable hand position. He recognized the importance of pedaling, and he studied as many techniques as possible based on it. The frequently used ornaments in his music are the crucial factor illuminating his works. The Barcarolle properly embodies his musical style. It was written without fixed form, and there are various kinds of rhythms, dynamics and pedaling as a boat song. It is a good example that shows some of the techniques especially to the piano music. Barcarolle is written in his latter period. It is certain that Barcarolle is one of the most difficult pieces to play with complete understanding on the work and with deep emotion in heart.
