THE FEMININE IMAGES OF JESUS IN MYANMAR CHRISTIAN CONTEXT

Abstract

First of all, I praise God for his/her unending love and care in my life. By God’s grace, I was able to come to Korea and study on attaining my master of theology in Ewha Graduate School of Theology. I thank God for the blessing he bestowed on me to accomplish my thesis. With deep gratitude, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my colleagues back home, past and present teachers and professors, and my relatives for their financial support, prayers, and encouragement to accomplish this thesis. My heartily gratitude goes to Dr. Chang Yoon-Jae, my honorable supervisor, for his guidance and patient. His encouragement gave me strength to complete my thesis. I pay my great gratitude to my two readers: Dr. Paik Eun Mi and Dr. Lee Yoon Kyung whose wise reflections and commands gave me new perspective to enrich myself through research. I would like to express my grateful thanks to Ewha Graduate School of Theology and United Board (UB) for helping me and giving me full scholarship in order to help me achieve my education and to study at Ewha Womans University. Through this help, I was able to concentrate my studies without any problems. My sincere gratitude goes to my parents U Mi Sai and Daw Tipal for their love and moral support. Their unceasing prayers give me strength and energy to continue working hard in every point of my life. My special thanks goes to my beloved husband Rev. Thing Sai, senior pastor of Sung Van Baptist church, Matupi, Chin State, Myanmar, who was beside me with his moral, mental and spiritual support to help me through times of discouragement and anxiety. I also want to give my thanks to my beloved son, Joseph Tin Tang for his thoughtfulness and prayer support. I am thankful to Sister Bawi Cing who recommended me to apply Ewha Graduate School of Theology because of her guidance I was able to join this University. Last but not least, my genuine gratitude also goes to Sara Ma, Curriculum Coordinator of Central Christian Academy, Suwon, Korea, who alongside with me helped me in my studies. In times of need and problems, she encourages me and stood by me. Her encouragement helps me be dedicated to finish my thesis. ;선교사들에 의해 도입된 그리스도론 개념은 남성위주의 개념이었다.이러한 전통적인 시각에서 예수는 승리를 축하하는 개선의 왕과 권위적인 높은 성직자이다.따라서 예수 그리스도는 교회와 신학에서 가부장제 종교의 의식을 지지하는 강한 남성의 모습과 하나님의 남성 이미지로 그려진다. 남성지향의 개념은 여성에 대한 남성지배를 보증하였고 여성으로 하여금남성의 지위보다 더 낮아지도록 만들었다. 여성은 여전히 그들의 존엄과 가치를 약화시키는 종교적인 제약 아래에 있다. 미얀마 교회들 안에서의 그리스도론은 예수의 남성다움이 하나님의 남성다움을 드러내기때문에 여성을 억압하는데 가장 많이 사용되는 것이다. 사람들은 하나님은 오직 남성 이미지들로 묘사되어야 한다고 생각한다.그러나 신학자들은 하나님은 인간의 언어로 완전하게 묘사될 수 없다고 주장한다. 하나님은 인간의 상상과 성별을 넘어선다. 비록 하나님이 근원적으로 남성의 모습인 아버지로서, 주(主)로서, 목자로서, 그리고 왕으로서 묘사되어왔다고 할지라도, 하나님은 하나님에 대한 진정한 개념이 없이 남성과 여성 둘 모두로 상상되어야만 한다. 따라서 이러한 연구는 특별히 예수의 여성다움에 중점을 두었다. 예수는 미얀마 여성의 고통을 이해하는 사람으로 그려진다. 어머니로서 예수는 그들을 돕고, 고양시키며, 양육하기 위한 여성들의 투쟁 한 가운데 선물이다. 복음서에 예수는 여성을 매우 중히여겼으며 그들을 사람으로서 대우했다. 그는 여성의 가치가 남성과 동일하다고 여겼다. 예수는 여성을 비인간화하고 평가절하하는 모든 장벽을 무너뜨렸다. 예수는 와서 미얀마 여성이 완전한 인간됨을 이루도록 동기를 부여하기 위해 매우 많은 제한과 사회적 장벽, 인종 차별과 억압을 제거하였다. 예수는 모든 사람을 억압으로부터 해방시키는 것을 계속하고 여성에게 는 남성과 함께 동일한 지위를 부여한다. 예수는 여성의 인권에 대한 지지자이다. 그는 여성의 고통을 치유하고 가부장제 문화에 의해 그들에게 부과된 굴욕과 그들의 깨어짐으로부터 그들을 안아 일으켰다. 그러나 반어적으로 여성에 대한 차별은 교회와 사회에 우세하며, 그들의 성직 서임식은 미해결의 문제로 남아있다. 이러한 배경에 반대하여 저자는 논거를 제시하고, 교회와 사회 안에서 미얀마 여성의 권리와 지위를 위해 성서적인 근거를 제공한다.
